A.K.A: how not to be that guy.
The K-Boxes are where we spend most of our time, and we have some etiquette we like to follow.
When you first join a K-box, have your microphone muted as to not accidentally interrupt whoever is performing. You can unmute between turns, but keep your mic muted through every performance, so that you do not disturb or interrupt the current performer.
Did you join the queue? Make sure everything you need is ready to go before your turn starts! Have your song picked, your lyrics up, and your backing track or instrument ready. Making people wait while you prepare isn't fun for you or them.
The time you have at your disposal for your turn is six minutes, starting from when the bot pings you that it's your turn! Any preparations and delays will take time away from your turn, giving you less time to preform. Keep your turn to a maximum of 6 minutes not only to not strain that magical performance muscle of yours, but as a courtesy to the other people in your voice channel, and the people in the queue.
Commentary about performances is a great thing. Banter and conversation is something we encourage as long as it is done with respect. Please do keep in mind how long this conversation goes on for. The K-Boxes are for singing, and a little bit of dialogue is okay but long tangents and monologues, not so much.
If you and your friends go on a ten-minute tangent discussing that perfect sandwich you had for breakfast, everyone else will have to wait for you guys before they get their turns. Feel free to share your more long, winding anecdotes or comments in the text channels or the lounge voice channel instead, since that's what they're there for!
Respect the queues! Don't ask to skip people in the queue, or sing two songs in a row. A lot of people won't tell you no because they don't want to cause a fuss, but abusing this is not acceptable behaviour.
Respect the audience! If you are going to sing a song that is commonly known to be a meme (like "Pen Pineapple Apple Pen, All Star, or Never Gonna Give You Up), please try to make it as tolerable as possible.
As part of respecting both the queues and the audience, don't go hopping between vc's joining multiple queues at once. Listen to your kbox companions perform, and they will listen to you! Why should they bother listening to you if you are too preoccupied with performing continuously to listen to them? This is karaoke, not a one-person show
Don't argue with the mods or hosts when they are trying to diffuse a situation. Our number one priority is to resolve discussions/interruptions in the K-Box channels, allowing everyone to continue performing and having fun. This is why we are avid users of the ‘server mute’ function. Don't take it personally; we want to make sure there are as few interruptions as possible. Don't try to be a rule lawyer or accuse us of being authoritative or unfair. We strive to be as fair as possible in our judgements, but it's difficult when 5+ people are screaming at us.
