Frequency Asked Questions

Below you'll find very commonly asked questions that can help you navigate yourself around the server easier. The channel will be regularly updated if there are questions that are seen as common. Feel free to ping @ruby terrace if you have noticed a common question that would be nice to add here!

[?] How do we sing in the server? What else can we do?

Information on the VC types and descriptions are here. https://discord.com/channels/269408827059732490/1029807196801871953 When joining a "Kbox" however, you'll need to queue up, wait for your turn, and mute upon entering a VC because there's an 80% chance someone is performing. If you're not, you may be muted.

[?] How do I get streaming perms?

Read “[?] How do I check my level and/or gain levels?” for info on how to obtain streaming, video, image, and link embedding permissions.

#

[?] How do I check my level and/or gain levels?

You level up by chatting in any of the text channels. For every message you send you get a randomized amount of XP, there’s a cool down for XP so spamming won’t work.

Streaming/Video Permission in Voice Channels:
You will only be able to turn your video on and/or stream at level 2+.

Image/Link Embed Permissions in general and/or integrated text channels:
You will only be able to attach images and embed links at level 5+.

You can check your rank in #bot-spam with the $rank command.

[?] How do I put a backing track/instrumental for a song I'm singing?

There are multiple ways you can do this!

  1. You can play a YouTube Video from the same device you're using to sing and have it going on in the background as you sing. Sing2Piano/Sing2Guitar, SingKingKaraoke, and Edkara are my personal recommendations for pop song instrumentals!

  2. You can play a YouTube Video from a different device and project it to the mic of the device you're using to sing.

  3. You can use a software such as "VoiceMeeter" to play as you sing. There are many tutorials on YouTube to help you set it up.

For methods #2 and #1, you'll need to follow the instructions in
"[?] I'm performing but my sound keeps cutting out. What do I do?" to ensure your audio doesn't cut out when you sing.

[?] Where can I post things I've made? What are guidelines on advertising?

If you made a song, cover, or some beats that you'd like to receive feedback on and/or get some love for, feel free to do so in #1058509917050380409 or #1058511104629801041 . Do read the post guidelines first!

Discord links are not allowed in the server. If you send one it'll be deleted. If someone wants to join a server (ie. emoji, hangout, pfp server), then you're free to send them a DM invite, just don't send unsolicited links to anyone.

If you want to plug your twitch, tiktok, instagram (proceed with caution with what you want to share as it IS public), then do so in #self-promo !

[?} How can I apply for the staff team?

You can apply to be a Community Host with the following link: https://forms.gle/4GNCPWdvvoc6BaAT8

Although applications are open, we accept a small amount of individuals every few months to ensure a good flow in our team. You can reach out in regards to the status of your application if you have not received a response in 1-2 months by contacting @ruby terrace

[?] What are the regulations around different performances with no singing, different languages, etc..?

You don't have to necessarily sing! If you're more of an instrument expert, you can perform a piece with said instrument.

In terms of languages, you can sing in any language so long as you follow the rules (no excessive swearing, make sure the song has appropriate content)!

[?] How do you change the voice channel (VC) limit?

VC limits can only be changed once when someone first joins the vc, and a prompt pops up asking the user what limit they'd like to set (see image below).

The VC limit cannot change whilst users are still in the channel. Once the channel empties out, and someone joins again, that is when the limit can be changed.

[?] How do I get in touch with the staff team for reports, suggestions, complaints, etc..?

You can contact staff one of two ways. For general help, you can ping the <@&534472414105698305> role, and staff will be alerted with the first ping you do, please do not ping multiple times.

If you’d like to address something more private, you can make a ModMail by messaging (DM) @frank patrol as you would any other member. Please ensure you include what you need help with in your initial message, as it helps us help you faster.

Please DO NOT ping staff directly, please use either methods above to ensure you’re helped within a reasonable amount of time.
