As in the 2016 movie about an 1830s slave rebellion or the 1915 KKK propaganda movie?
The 1915 one
Considering that I’ve only seen clips of it back in film school because I prefer not to watch extremist propaganda as entertainment, saying that it is a double-edged sword is an understatement
Do I see its significance and relevance to film history? Certainly
Is it a good movie? Debatable
Like other films that provide a sympathetic lens for extremist groups (Romper Stomper looking at you) I can’t say that they’re good films
One can explore the villain’s argument without making a despicable real-life villain the protagonist
Take for example these relevant films:
Mississippi Burning
BlacKkKlansman
