But most Snyder fans have pretty much moved on
And they see it as pointless to hate on the new Superman
I wish that were true
It IS pointless... since well... Snyder himself has moved-on, and him and Gunn doesn't hate each others, and seemed to have at minimum a courteous professional relationship, at most ok friends.
Where did this false ass narrative that they hate each other come from
It’s not false narrative, just a very loud minority
Things like this is everywhere, not that they are the majority, just, again, a very dedicated, and very loud small group of Snyderbros.
It’s even sadder they do this if they are grown adults
FEELS like a 65:20:15 Love -> like -> hate spread
There are a few people who hates it, but the majority are on the positive sides
The hate are mostly on the overly bright nature and the jokes
I MAY be biased though, since I'm on the LOVE side... the LOVE ratio might not be so high, but imma gonna ignore that I have confirmation bias ehehe
I think I'm in the middle of love and like. It handled a lot of things going on well, but had some iffy dialogue and character moments. Generally enjoyed my time and excited to see where future movies go
Very excited for Supergirl if it goes a lot more space fantasy as rumoured
I just want to see Milly Alcock getting drunk and unleash the inner Kryptonian rampage lol
Also this superman and pattinson batman would fuck so hard together in a cross over
Would love a world's finest adaptation with those two
I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon... we first need to fix Bruce Wayne from the Matt Reeves series... you can't have a Batman and a Bruce Wayne being essentially the same character lol...
and that's why you do Hush as Part 2. Hush takes on Bruce Wayne's identity and while trying to take back his identity, Bruce realises what he needs to be as both batman and Bruce wayne
But that's just a theory--
Here's something that I'm curious to hear other people's reaction towards:
A lot of film reviewers I've seen that aren't comic-book oriented have been super harsh on this film. Calling it nonsensical; I heard one reviewer say something like, "the Minecraft Movie has a better representation of its source material than Superman" and I was just blown away.
I deeply enjoy this movie, despite a lot of it's legitimate flaws (pacing felt off & wish some scenes were given more room to breathe, not all the Gunn humor worked well, etc.). So I'm just curious what you all think about that.
Gotta call up Matt Reeves now and have him redo the script 😭
I guess that's the thing I'm curious about: do you guys know anyone who wasn't comic book people who did enjoy it? Because I'm seeing a lot of folks split about it.
I watched it twice, and tried to judge it as a film first, and still found it fine. Nothing innovative, or groundbreaking, but enjoyable with its sincerity -- even if it was messy.
I get being tired of certain reboots. But I feel like for Superman, it was kind of warranted w/ how much of a shitshow the DCEU felt. I usually disdain reboots, unless it's
- Actually well-made
- If it's necessary at all
I don't know what's going on with some of the critics... a LOT of the comic and geekdom critics and pundits had been praising it... let me check my fav Mainstream critics Kermode and Mayo... one moment
Heh, he JUST turned it in to Gunn last week too... and Gunn said he thought that it's fantastic and basically going to approve it lol
Mark Kermode said he enjoyed it way more than he thought that he would... there are some parts he thinks goes a bit too silly and are a bit overstretchy, but he generally liked it and is good fun.
And he's DEFINITELY not a comic book critic.
Ya know I see the Superman speech in the third act being posted everywhere but they always cut off the last part
The last part where he says that he hopes Lex realizes it's his own greatest strength too
That shit hits HARD
Even after EVERYTHING he still tries to reach Lex and help him be better
THAT'S MY GOD DAMN SUPERMAN
Signed sealed delivered
Yeah people are idiots, that's the SOUL of the monologue
Sometimes I drive to work and just think about this movie and get teary eyed
I've listened to the score non-stop
My wife is in Vermont and I can't wait for her to get back so we can watch it together
The Gunn did not misfire
Both Gunn and Corenswet said in public that the day they shot that sequence was their best day on set... one working with a director, the other with an actor...
They quibbled for a lot after he did his version and Gunn asked him to do an angry version... then he walked to the back of the set and Gunn tap/light punched his chest (on the S I assume) saying "it's from HERE"... then Corenswet went "OK", and delivered the version we saw on screen.
Positivity, empathy, belief in the good of people, and desires to do good, are Superman's REAL powers.

In this breakdown of the new Superman score, I reveal how a secret 3-note melody hidden inside the original John Williams theme became the key to finding the character's human core.

@timber obsidian For some strange reasons... "Maybe that's the real punk rock" line got to me in theaters
I did just watch Superman 78 again too
Honestly when this comes out on physical I'm pairing this with Supes 78 and Iron Giant
My hope core trilogy
That was a cute scene
Stupid ass test audiences
This film was great
I left the cinema in such a hopeful state
I don't know how to explain it
I feel like I understand the criticism of the overly bright nature and comedy but to me it fit
My biggest issue was it felt a little overstuffed
Also nicholas hoult was a perfect Lexus Luthor
I loved how petty he was
I understand that as well
There's so much going on but overall I'd say this is a great start to the dcu
This is probably my... 4th? favorite DC movie
Ooh nice
What are your top 3?
Ooh these actually look dope
Mr terrific was awesome in this film
He did one of supergirl I’ll post it if I find it again
Ooh I'd love to se that
Thanks for sharing
https://youtube.com/shorts/sdECUNNRW8Y?si=00JqSwGe-gCwSxOF easily one of the top best movie title sequences i've ever seen
YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS UP WTF💀
he shoulda kept ultra man punching krypto
yo that's recorded non trailer footage. big no, i think.
the movie is out
...and?
do i spoiler censor it or
well yah, but not with actual movie fotage, i think
its fine apparently but spoiler censoring is recommended
since its already out officially
its in the rules, no piracy
That is technically piracy so I will need to delete that
I hate my YouTube feed
i didnt know mb, i found the vid funny so i thought-
but i didnt know it was sorry
It’s the same regurgitating nonsense regarding the box office of the film…
The algorithm is garbage lol
Also, if you watch one video out of your normal habits, thats all you see for like days lol
Yea. I love this Superman and all I get is Critical Drinker and friend videos…
Oooof
None exactly address what issues are legitimate because they assume logic means whatever they can rationalize on their own has to be dead set options for characters… I had a genuine headache listening to 7 hours of EFAP breaking down the movie and just listening as to what didn’t work. It’s more like routinely complaining for the sake of it at this point.
Anyways, glad the movie went past the Superman Returns original run. Here’s hoping it makes 500 mill.
Why would you subject yourself to efap of all people 😭
But yeah
I hope it breaks 500
is 500mil good for what it cost?
It probably won't break even with 500 million dollars but it would still be great for Superman considering the state of DC before and even Marvel btw as both Thunderbolts and Brave new world haven't made 500 million dollars as well.
This is a low bar but still, and there's a chance Superman may get close to 600 million dollars as well
You listened to 7 hrs of that?? That's a lot, I don't listen to those people because I feel like they already have made up their minds even before watching the movie. I did watch a video from Film threat and their discussion on Superman and lore changes, it was interesting with diverse opinions and not just total bashing.
superman is 100% breaking 600 million
the real question is whether it gets to 700 million
Hope so and I mean getting to 700 million dollars would just be incredible but I have serious doubts about that
What how do u know that
First let it make 600 million lol
It looks like this movie will make less than MOS, and the latter’s performance was considered a disappointment.
Yes but Man of steel didn't have good reception like Superman has plus DC brand wasn't tarnished like right now
I don’t understand why people are excusing this movie’s overseas failure. Supergirl will probably tank, if this movie is only making over 600 million.
Even if Superman makes less than MoS it is a success because it has now rehabilitated the DC brand
Superman doesn’t have good reception outside America. I don’t know what you’re on
It’s not even a good movie and some are overhyping this as if it’s some groundbreaking superhero movie.
It's nearing 200 million dollars overseas though and there's still time alright.. vast majority of Hollywood movies will never make that much money internationally
That's your opinion which is fine. I think it's a great movie and the majority of people who have seen it like or love it.
This is some serious cope. You had Iron Man 3 making over 1 billion back in 2013 lol.
DC’s biggest hero is struggling to make probably 600 mil.
Ah.. times have changed a lot since 2013. Even MCU movies aren't doing well anymore. Like Superman is gonna make more money worldwide than past 2 MCU movies and that's a win.
Be realistic, instead of fanboying Gunn.
Fantastic Four is gonna outgross this movie and it will do much better overseas. MCU is fine
Ya because DC brand is bad right now. You forget about DCEU and think that DC was doing great before Superman came along.
Worry about DCU.
Let's wait and see for that.
DCU has just started, we will know more next year when Supegirl comes out.
And that will flop. Nobody gives a crap about Supergirl
Speak for yourself alright. You don't know that.
DCU is dead on arrival just like DCEU.
Totally disagree on that. Superman has received great reception already and it is doing well financially compared to past DCEU movies.
I hope WB doesn’t sell DC to Sony, if things get bad.
They should focus on Reevesverse and that will make them big money.
Critically acclaimed movies/tv shows and huge numbers.
You don't know Hollywood business ok.. like you don't even know that WB has made most money in box office right now with Minecraft movie and sinners
Even if superman loses money.. overall they will be in profit due to other movies.
So there's no question about selling WB right now.
I’m not talking about Minecraft and Sinners.
Those are WB movies and DCU is under WB
They are doing fine even if Superman underperforms
Also Zaslav ain't stupid like past DCEU people where they were reactive and changed their plans completely based on box office of single movies
Again, I’m talking about DC. Not their other movies. Learn to read
If DCU is a flop, then I don’t think WB is willing to take any chance with DC.
This is a win for DC and Zaslav is more than happy right now with what Gunn has accomplished here.
Like both DCEU and DCU flopping is pretty bad
We won't know that for some time. You can't judge the whole DCU by just Superman movie because that would be stupid.
You need to wait for at least 2 to 3 years and see the results and even if it doesn't do well then, we can have different conversations.
Are you for real? If DC can’t even make big numbers with their biggest IP after Batman, then yeah they should forgot about other characters. This is precisely what happened with DCEU.
They’re mismanaged
Zaslav is a moron.
How many times I have to say this?? DC brand was tarnished with DCEU ok.. their movies weren't even making 200 million dollars worldwide. You totally forget the context.
And then people say.. but these were obscure DC characters, well in MCU even obscure characters were making a lot of money like Guardians or ant man
They’re not the MCU, and will never be. MCU used to make billions with rando characters, something DC can’t accomplish consistently.
And now DCU will share the same fate. Superman isn’t exactly making great numbers.
Ya because their brand was tarnished and DCEU was a failure as they couldn't make Superman or Batman movies they were loved by many.
It's making a lot than what many predicted. Most important is that majority of people like the movie ok.
As I said before.. the first Batman begins movie made 385 million dollars back in 2005 and that was because Batman brand was tarnished. It is a similar situation with Superman.
You are coping hard, if you think a 600+ million Superman is a great start to DCU. Superman should be making over a 1 billion considering how big the IP is. WB was pretty disappointed when MOS made 670 million.
Why are you forgetting the context??
This film will probably make even less, and Gunn fans think this is some impressive start.
It's like for you.. DCEU never happened and this Superman is a fresh start after no DC movies were made for over 10 years.
wHy aRe yOu fOrGeTtInG tHe cOnTeXt?
Keep giving excuses
Why did Batman begins make 385 million dollars in 2005?
It was a great movie back then.
“DC brand was damaged due to DCEU, so we should excuse the underperformance of Superman WW”
Not excuse.. it is putting in context that Superman movie was made in the backdrop of DC brand being tarnished and a lot of people had given up on seeing DC movies.
The Batman literally made 772 million back in 2022. It’s silly to claim DC brand is completely damaged.
Batman wasn't DCEU
You know how slow paced and long that film was for a superhero movie? The Batman is a DC movie, correct?
WB wasn’t only making DCEU movies
Yes but it was a standalone movie and people knew that.. because we had a Affleck Batman before.
You know what did other DC movies make after Batman ??
Aquaman 2 was a sequel of Aquaman which made over a billion dollars and it only made 440 million dollars worldwide.. Superman is gonna cross that.
Superman is a household name like Batman. Yet it underperforms. Aside Aquaman, smaller DC characters have been epic failures. Even then, Momoa’s popularity was like the main reason behind the first film’s success. Then people didn’t bother for the second movie. Supergirl and Clayface won’t be box office success, and that will end up destroying the DCU.
Even if Supergirl or Clayface are positively received, the box office is what truly matters
Why didn't Aquaman 2 make more money?? Also Flash is a huge character in DC and it didn't make much also.
And you said people didn't bother.. exactly.
What are you even arguing?
You’re proving my point
My point is that DC brand was so bad that even top level DC characters like Flash and Aquaman weren't making much money.
Superman is a household name but it is also a DC character and the brand matters a lot.
They can make money if they have lower budgets and Gunn has said their budget won't be huge
Aquaman isn’t a top DC character lol.
What ?? He's a member of Justice league. Are you even serious ??
He’s literally considered a joke until Momoa played him in the first movie during peak of his popularity.
Being part of the Justice League, doesn’t mean Aquaman was some well known character to the general audience prior Momoa.
What about the Flash then ??
Aquaman made over a billion dollars while Aquaman 2 made less than half of that
The Flash is the most popular DC character after Batman and Superman. You’re just proving my point. DC is irrelevant outside Batman to the GA.
We will find out soon
When Superman itself is struggling, then you can imagine the other projects
Nobody can predict what will happen next. Let's wait and see what happens next.
Only Gunn’s cult thinks Superman is a success just because it’s doing well domestically. If I recall, he even acknowledged that the overseas performance isn’t great. These people are as deluded as Snyder fanboys if they think the DCU won’t end up a catastrophic failure.
Reevesverse should’ve been the main focus.
Many predicted DCEU’s downfall since MOS and BvS.
Hell, when MOS underperformed, people were already skeptical.
Nobody can say DCU is definitely gonna be a failure, you are not a fortune teller. Also, We are getting Batman 2.. we also got the Penguin TV show which was great. Reeves Batman is there also.
Gunn exactly hasn’t made Superman more appealing to the general audience aside the U.S.
Superman is a canadian creation, just like basketball.
Reevesverse isn’t part of the DCU. That’s what WB should be focused on, not another dumb shared universe bullshit.
Oh.. so WB should only make Batman movies?? And ignore all other great DC characters, that's ridiculous.
Not really. Basketball was also created and played first in the U.S.
its creator was canadian born
james naismith
Yes, because they are terrible handling other characters. They want to make their own MCU, but they have failed with DCEU, and now DCU will be an epic disaster as well.
I imagine that’s because we’ve had many Batman’s and many Batman movies, same with Superman while the rest don’t have too many movie appearances which is GA’s main way of knowing heroes but arrowverse has done some goodness in acknowledging some heroes. It’s just now that the shows nosedived and ended so their relevance has faltered
We don't know that. Let's come back in a year and two, then discuss.
I'm excited about upcoming DCU projects. Can't wait for peacemaker season 2, Lanterns then, Supergirl looks interesting and very intrigued by Clayface. Gunn is also developing DCU Batman and wonder woman.
Wasn’t James Naismith already an American citizen when he created the sport in Massachusetts? Pretty sure everybody considers Basketball as an American invention, and Superman as well.
Shuster was Canadian-American, while Siegel was American. Superman’s motto used to be “Truth, Justice, and the American way”.
He’s probably the most American superhero.
Eh. Potato, potahto.
if you guys think "naturalized american" means "american citizen", great. Just understand it applies to all naturalized.
or at least it should.
CAUSE I'M A PUNK ROCKER YES I AM
it will take more than one DC movie to rebuild dc brand, so they focus on more lower budget movies and quality to rebuild audience trust.
The issue with this movie is let’s say fantastic 4 is super mid it prob wouldn’t impact Superman, but fantastic 4 is…. Fantastic I worry Superman will reach 700m
Fantastic Four will make this film irrelevant
Don’t we need more data points we have only Superman and creature commandos to go off tho?
Based on early reaction, I’m inclined to believe
I strongly disliked the first 2 trailers and haven’t watched any since. I was checked out of fantastic 4 till this week, where I had a little more hype after rumors about the quality.
I think people would be more hyped for F4 due to that post credit scene alone lol.
Ah yeah, I had someone spoil ts for me 🥲.
Dude apparently based on some reactions (take with grain of salt) Pedro is amazing as Reed Richard’s, based on the two trailers I’d seen I felt he wasn’t gonna be that great
I’m not much of a fan of his acting, but I heard he was a good Reed. The others were also good too apparently.
You're failing to take into consideration how much extra revenue is being generated by this movie due to the increase in sales of comics, figures, other Superman movies, etc.
EVEN IF it doesn't break 500m, that's fine.
But it will, so long as WB circulates it in theaters long enough
Word of mouth is doing wonders
It had the goodwill of the first Avengers movie lol
Why does a Superman movie need to even be a billion dollar smash hit
Because.... It would piss off the Snyder fans
Sorry cult
THIS MOVIE SUCKED!!!! #SUPERSHIT
This is crazy
very similar 🤔
Very campy and uses overwhelmingly bright colors
Ngl he along with Josh Hutcherson were my first crushes when I was watching their movies as a kid. So seeing Jimmy get some attention was like an odd callback from those TASM days.
Who else thinks the Justice Gang wasn’t needed?
I loved the Justice Gang
Mr Terrific was the best member of the group
Guy Gardner was so damn good. The trailers made him look so goofy and the film made him seem much more than a silly haircut
Just re-watched it, god damn I enjoyed it even more. I think on a second watch I truly understand what this Superman is standing for, and experiencing it after knowing a lot of the major events helped me enjoy the visuals even more. All the visuals have a narrative purpose. I really liked it.
Fuckin hell the that scene where he's just commanding the narrative at the Pentagon.
This is awesome
I'm just a punk rocker yes I am
I wonder what villains we’ll see if there’s a sequel
Bruh when he's protecting the baby with his life in the anti proton stream
Hopefully Brainiac
becasue all big films need to make a billion now
So that’s the bare minimum 😭
blame avengers. they did it first (for a superhero film)
The Dark Knight did it before Avengers
I also think the translation is manipulated cause terrific says he heard someone say it's real instead of examining it himself. I think either lex made a really well doctored translation or he got an insider in the authorities doing it for him
initial worldwide 2008 gross of $997 million and subsequent releases thereafter.
So no, it didn't 🙂
movies should aim for high quality, low budget.
I don't trust lex's words
I thought it had a rerelease before Avengers, but I looked it up and it was a couple months after
Also don't trust the authorities since they kinda submitted him to lex knowing what he was gonna do w him
also, you could argue that Dark Knight was a bit more of an elevated comic book film compared to Avengers, but the original point stands. studios have decided that only a billion counts as a success.
Wild how Batman Begins made less than 400 million yet its sequel made a billion
and I'm in the minority of people who feel Begins was the best of the three.
Better as a Batman movie

Lego Batman unironically the second best Batman movie oops
This is a spoiler channel
You dont have to spoiler warn anything in here
I was driving for work and that was the only movie thing that was uploaded that day.
I actually think this too.
no pirated footage means no pirated footage.
I had a theory that it might be a message that could help Kara cope with her purpose considering her careless partying and partial abandonment of her good boy Krypto. It would be neat, I’m fine with the parents being evil but it’s so awkwardly written to be translated in the way it has that at that point Lex’s engineer seems to be the source of that particular version. I do hope it also helps contextualize Clark’s struggles of his identity too with his cousin considering it’s awkward to think she lived that culture as a child and would know about the more sinister message.
Yeah I misunderstood what was happening there lol
I got the context afterword, mb
I tend to listen because I like people who claim themselves to be film critics to actively betray that mentality with any film I’m aware of. For example: their Last Samurai vid had me stare the screen blankly as to how Mauler can’t empathize with country men killing one another…
What I’m most excited now is Supergirl and Brave and the Bold Batman. From the moment I heard that announced i was sold on the universe, it’s my favorite Batman and the most different. I hope this sees the light of day.
Here's the thing though
The Batman movie they're doing is going to suck eggs if they're still going with the director of The Flash.
Granted, the bit of Batman action there was on that bridge was pretty cool
But I have no faith in that project
As of right now
I was shocked to see John Cena in the movie lmao
Lmfaoo
I didn’t see him?
It was absolutely needed for this story of Superman and to set up a world with other metahumans plus to differentiate them with Superman because while fighting the kaiju, Superman was most concerned about Collateral damage while the justice gang weren't.
I'm excited about those both as well and I can't wait for DCU Batman to meet with Superman and how that dynamic is gonna be plus we are getting Bat family too, esp if Robin is Damian Wayne then we already may have Nightwing or Red Hood in DCU.
Regarding Mauler, he's just so negative all the time, he's no fun. Film threat is a bit more balanced than these guys esp with Superman discussion.
i agree
its smart to introduce groups like that as early as possible so they dont run into introduction problems down the line
I love how Gunn is able to make so many characters feel alive and compelling even with shorter screentime, alongside those with more screentime
He balanced everyone and everything so expertly so as to not make it feel overstuffed
He is great at balancing humour too
It never ruins or harms a moment
I agree
i also love how he incorporates music
the only character that I would say could have used "better" writing is Hawkgirl
but i think she just needed more screentime than anything
I cannot get enough of Nic Hoult as Lex
I love everyone but he was absolutely the best
He was so good, can't wait to see him again
One of his best performances too
Yup
I would actualy be really interested to talk to people who didn't like the film
see if my complaints are common.
I'm not saying i want o ttrash it or convince anyone it sucks, i didn't think it did -- but i was very not into it, and I'mc urious if other people felt the way i did.
I'm sure there are other people
Only thing that pissed me of was Krypto being a mangy little mutt. Yes, i know its Jemas Gunn's dog's breed, but...Krypto"s a lab.
Krypto looks kinda like my dog so i love the movie design
I liked the change made it fun to see how cute but aggressive he is
I noticed the main themes a little more in the second viewing. It's used in a very subtle way through out the film. Also lex's theme.
I didn't mind cause it feels like a dog.
Especially the humor part. I think people forget what version of these heroes are meant to portray. It’s meant to be more light hearted, it’s deliberate and explicitly so, however, the series like in Brave and the Bold does not shy away from more serious episodes and those like Clayface horror film will be compelling of a watch.
If it looked like my Bishon Frise we would have problems. I don’t think this lil guy can be Krypto.
^seeing Superman crash in the beginning.

James Gunn's Superman centers around a misunderstood message from...
btw james gunn has confirmed that the message was real and that he wont retcon it, saying its literally the entire point of the movie
he also confirmed again that dcu batman WONT be pattinson
I swear he already confirmed both of these lol
many times
but people keep asking him because they refuse to accept the truth
so he keeps having to confirm over and over again
its crazy how the literal ceo of dc studios will say something and people will be like "wellllll idk... anything could happen 🤷♂️"
like no
thats not how it works
Lol
Yup… it’s in the video…
i would hope so lol
new rockstars has kinda fallen off recently, im getting more and more annoyed of erik voss
he holds onto weird personal theories with no evidence a little too much
Also is the clip of lex with dictator in private where dictator calls him clever for faking but, lex says it was real. I’d forgotten that portion.
and tries to present them as fact and base other info around them
yeah he wouldnt tell a trusted confidant in private its real if he faked it
In this he presents 4-5 options/idea about the tape he presents them in a way that isn’t dismissive and provides evidence for the one he agrees supports, so long as he isn’t criticizing the film for being poor if his ideas and theories don’t come to pass. I don’t have too much issue, he also had a brainiac theory which seemed intriguing idk if that will happen, it’ll be fun to see where this all goes with supergirl.
but like
theres only one option
the message was real
Was that from the mephitso thing back wandavisin
i dont understand why people are theorizing about it
i mean it was reasonable there
there were a lot of hints at characters like mephisto or nightmare in that show
but like he was convinced deadpool & wolverine didnt take place in the void and refused to acknowledge it might be (this was after the trailers were out)
Voss’s idea 4 or 5 was that the message isn’t perfect translation mapping kryptonian to English. do humans in this universe have perfect tools that can map non earth languages to English correctly.
Eric makes the following point, words like “rule,” “conquer,” “dispatch” to humans carry strong authoritarian or violent connotations. But in Kryptonian, these could mean different things, “dispatching” could be difficult decisions for survival, rule ~ guide. Kinda like how some words get lost in translation like jihad which means to struggle. To some westerners they hear the word and it evokes “holy war” fear…etc
I’d def recommend skimming through his vid at the very least it’s more fun Superman content.
That’s wild 😭
didn’t they show alioth in the trailer
Read a thing the other day that stuck with me - Superman is a firefighter, not a cop.
He's not there to uphold the law or bring people to justice. He's there to try and save as many people as possible, and I think this film really nailed that.
yes
This Jor El is straight up Omni Man and Superman is pretty much Mark

Where is the Superman set
David corenswet wants a lego set so bad lol
They stopped making dc movie lego sets besides batman movies because of all the flopping and poor sales
I will get on my knees and make an alter to james Gunn if he gets lego to make dcu sets
It feels more likely now
Probably sometime next year we find out
They'd be silly not to make a Lego game from it.
This movie was just so good
It was like if hope was a movie
The first act was a little slow
But the entire movie just understood the core concept of superman so well
Maybe if I rewatch I’ll enjoy it more
so one thing i didnt get... when Superman was in the pocket dimension, why did he still have powers? wouldnt that dimension be far away from Earths sun?
Superman is like a solar battery. He absorbs and stores solar energy.
Him being far away from the sun doesn’t diminish his powers.
Yeah, this
I just realized something
Would Mr mxyzsptlk work as an antagonist in movies?
Because I would imagine fighting him is gonna be boring.
He's for sure gonna defeat the justice league alone and toy with them, that would be boring to watch
And the only way to defeat him wouldn't be good for movies either
He's kinda more fitting for television
While it would be incredible visually, it would take so much time and money to get right
He works really well in My Adventures with Superman
It'd be like Bat-Mite
Any toon force character is bonkers
True, in my adventure with superman they changed him a little bit I think
They would probably have to do the same if they want to make him the main antagonist
from my understanding, he's a trickster with no real evil intent. He could be an antagonist and a foil, but would probably need someone else to be the actual big bad
Mr Mxy is the biggest Superman stan
Ah nice
I don't recognise a lot of them
Because it’s so contrary to what we think of Kryptonians. They are the most evolved version of what humans could be. Which is why it’s a bit bothersome.
I think regardless if it’s true or not it never really mattered to Supes because he realized that the ones who were there to care for him and nurtured him were his parents.
I’d like the idea that the rest of the message was meant for Kara because now we have an awkward reality that I’m sure she is well aware is her duty considering her being an older cousin. It’s very Zod (MoS) like of a message and I get the change of pace but it’s more interesting revisiting the clash of ideal hero man of tomorrow figure vs Clark Kent’s identity being human like us. If anything that’s the core struggle with godlike characters that make em cool.
Awesome
That's fine and all but honestly, the message of the movie hits harder when his Kryptonian parents aren't actually the best people
It's fine to change lore if it services the story
And this does
That portion and the way it was integrated feels a little rushed. We get a scene of supes being distraught by the msg w/the justice gang then it’s kinda tossed to the background.
but it works
I thought it would service the story more by disclosing it with an “actual interpretation” in a later film, now it would be a retcon but it would be a plot point where Kara and Kal don’t understand one another as he already has a made up interpretation of his actual parents and Kryptonian society. It would be a neat revelation where you can have this horrible message and use it one more time (not like Michael Shanon in the DCEU) and re-contextualize Kara’s purpose while also helps Sueps from stereotyping Kryptonians as a backward society.
I think what really threw me off was the way how the interpretation goes to an extreme and it’s Lex of all people asserting that this is the truth. This along with Gunn flirting with current events to portray aspects of this movie, I thought this was a moment that depicts the good natured cause being misrepresented by assumptions laid out by the likes of msm types who paint a narrative. It uses empathy with Lex saying, “well, I’m afraid”. It also puts Superman down because he is saying, “what’s wrong with that?” at the first half of the message which can be conflated as him being in favor of the whole message, hence why people in Metropolis turned on him at an instant.
At the end of the day I’ve come to terms with it, but I just assumed based on what Gunn was depicting that this was the angle he was going for.
I genuinely love this movie. It’s just a genuine thought I had while watching which is why I believe it to be doctored by the monopoly cult driven Luthorcorp who has MIC, home tvs, resources for languages and tech research for crazy inventions at the whim.
The best superhero movie since The Batman - no competition whatsover, even with F4. Saw the film three times already. Just so fricking good
Yea it’s my favorite superhero film DC ever put out in terms of making a whole cinematic universe.
I'd go as far to say it's the best live action superman adaption since Christopher reeve
Literally the BEST title card for a superhero movie in YEARS
I agree
That scene was honestly amazing
I could feel that hatred in lexs voice
Dude he might be my favorite Lex and this just started
I can see how much of a menace he will be with the way how much hate energy he gives into that role.
He feels like a mix of a modern lex, with the New 52 comic version, with a side DCAU - cause that Lex was a pure hater too
Meaning he is by far, in my book, the best live action version of the character
Without a doubt
This dude is PETTY
Also, can we just appreciate Lex's Theme?? It's freakin AWESOME
Superman, The Batman, Superman: The Movie, The Dark Knight, and Joker 2019 are the best DC movies ever released
Agreed
Superman ad on my screen 🥹
1A 1A 1A 1A 1A 1AAAA👹
do NOT let ultra man play battleship
I heard a theory he might come back as bizzaro in the future
thats my theory as well
Itll be cool to see if that's the case
I'm honestly so hyped for the clayface film
We probably wont get a purely superman film for a while though
That's some interesting worldbuilding
F4 was way better than Superman, and Thunderbolts was also better.
Cant they have an opinion?
Yeah and this is mine
“No competition whatsoever”
F4 says hi
It'd be funny if Jor-El and Lara's message to Kal-El to conquer, kill, and have many wives isn't reflective of Kryptonian society THEY'RE just the weird ones
Not comparable.

I doubt it
That will be even more strange

The best way they'd do that would be he comes back and Supes tries to rehabilitate him since he isn't under Lex's control anymore
But he can't help but mess it up lol
Would make for a fantastic dynamic
Cause I've never seen Bizarro as actually evil
That would be really cool
Bizarro isn't evil I don't think, he's just... thinks different lol
470 million!!!!
Yea like water is dry and goodbye nobody. ;)

Saddest bizarro moment is in Red Som when he’s supposed to be America’s (Lex) response to Superman and notices he’s seen as a monster and a freak. He sees a nuclear missile and sends it to the air sacrificing himself with his final words: “hello, everybody. me very pleased to meet you”.

Red Son Superman is short but gets everything right about the character and also questions the very concept of his hero antics. “Why don’t you put the world in a bottle Superman?”, will always be my favorite punch line.
Making peace with yourself is harder than it looks.

seems pretty likely it passes 500M this weekend
After watching f4 and superman, I gotta say I liked this one more
This seems more interesting than Superman.
I like both for different reasons both reasons make their respective characters better within the context of who they are.
it's funny when my parents came to see the movie, their immediate takeaway was that Nicholas Hoult was one hell of an actor as Lex Luthor
Right
I liked F4 more, I did like how they tried put the humor in Superman(the movie) but it was mostly miss for me. I also, found Superman's speech to Lex Luthor about being human cringy.
I thought the speech was pretty good in the sense that Superman is frustrated in proving a point and is trying to get that across the ego driven lex. I also really like how Lex consistently touts humanity’s greatest but really it’s a pretext to saying how great Lex is.
If Zack Snyder directed this movie, the internet would rip it apart
Snyder could never direct this movie. Far too colourful and fun
If he did everyone would despise it
I mean, I despise his DC films anyway
no, let me correct that - I despised his Man of Steel so much that I actively avoided all the others
Bros whole purpose here is to shit on Superman
this how chatgpt works?
Wouldn’t be surprised
Absolutely not.. plus as already said by Koz, Snyder would never direct this type of movie
I disagree with that. Why would critics give a pass to Gunn if they didn't like this movie?
This movie would’ve been way more violent, less joyful and more dark and depressing
And worst of all
No underwear…
Superman committing public nudity removing the trunks
Because they love James Gunn
And they hate Zack Snyder
I don't think it works like that

😭 yo this is nuts
Is there gonna be an upload every week?
Yes.. for each episode of season 1 and also season 2
Looks like Superman is gonna have an estimated final take of $600+ million world wide. Thats pretty good considering the competition it faces
Word of mouth carrying
also considering the current state of dc, not a single dc movie made it to even 400M in the last half decade
Since the beginning of time
600 million dollars is definitely a possibility.. I think Superman will stay in theatres for at least a month
Estimated totals through Sunday for Superman by international market include:
U.K. - $29.0M
Mexico - $20.3M
Brazil - $13.9M
Australia - $13.3M
France - $11.5M
China - $8.8M
Spain - $7.9M
India - $6.7M
S. Korea - $6.2M
Japan - $6.0M
Germany - $5.7M
Italy - $5.4M
#Superman
i think shins right when he says word of mouth is carrying. Ive seen Superman and FF and feel Supermans word of mouth will be far better than FFs. I was kinda bored by FF
Disagree with you about FF but I mean Superman is a bigger character than FF, I do think due to marvel brand FF might do better internationally
BTW.. FF made 118 million dollars domestic opening weekend.. a bit less than Superman but still good
We are good
yrah FF will def do better worldwide. Supermans widely known to be al all American chacacter. Im honestly surprised anyone from another country watches him. If China had a superhero who fought for truth, justice and the Chinese way, i probly would skip it
It has grossed over 200 million dollars internationally which for a quintessential American superhero ain't bad esp in the Times we are living in
I just need both to do well enough to stick around 😂
Same
F4 opened below Superman
Guess, I was wrong😑
The MCU brand is in much worse shape than I thought
Point is it doesn't matter if it's good it'll work
What do you mean? F4 was great, but many people didn’t like the fact the film had less action.
Less action=less money for superhero movies
Superman was more of a spectacle and it will have stronger legs
Def not for the actual avg audience.
my main takeaway with F4 was it made me feel as if id seen this movie 100 times before. just formulaic af and i was bored to tears
F4 has legs
The average audience literally want more action lol. Superman has opened more than F4 for a reason.
I didnt get the feeling from Superman that I'd seen this film before
One common complaint I’m seeing is that F4 had less action scenes. Even though the movie is great, but that’s just my opinion.
There is also another factor. Marketing
I thought the opposite. It was not your typical MCU movie and felt different.
Maybe that’s why I liked it so much. The cinematography, the writing and certain set pieces was very un MCU like.
Idk where you got that analysis cause in my theatre everyone was genuinely focused on the experience.
Like ||that space sequence in the film wasn’t your typical MCU experience.||
||quipping characters every 5 minutes, the earth about to be destroyed and only a select group of heroes who are good for the sake of good can stop it. they save the day and no one was killed. Ive seen this film 100 times.|| Boring to me
||Characters in this film wasn’t quipping 5 minutes. If anything it was a more serious movie than Superman lol. In Superman, it was all jokes and had less seriousness. Even during serious situations, they were cracking jokes.||
||The only jokes came from Johnny and even in this movie, he was way more mature than I expected.||
||flameguy and rockman were quipping with each other everytime they were together||
||There is no way in hell you think Reed, Sue and Ben was cracking jokes every time. Aside Johnny and Mole Man, there were barely any jokes. Hell, we see Reed and Johnny get mad at Mole Man when he cracked a joke, but he only did it to ease the pressure. It’s a more serious and darker film than Superman.||
Guys there's a spoilers channel dedicated 😂
yes, but we're comparing it to Superman...
||They weren’t quipping every time though. This movie was far more serious than Superman. Superman was making jokes during serious sequences in this movie with Mr Terrific for example and there are fight scenes in this movie treated as joke.||
i guess my hatred of the FF going into the film plays into it. Ive hated the FF characters and powers for the last 45 years. They probly wouldve had to make the greatest cape film in history for me to like it
Where is this narrative coming from?
No way you think this movie is more serious💀 when fights are treated as jokes here.
i guess Gunns way of joking lands with me more than the jokes in FF
+1
There you go
Some of the highlights I’ve seen from the YouTube crowd has been praise for them taking time to portray the characters correctly
Oh yes plus.. FF doesn't have huge name recognition as Superman
||the jokes in F4 are like Madam Webb level terrible jokes||
No
Dude, there were barely any humour in F4.
we can agree to disagree 🙂
They fall flat but idk if they are Madam Webb level bad
It was more like a DC movie than MCU movie
And their pre-marketing was lousy
Dawg there def is, it’s just dry humor
The trailers didn't hit much and hence they released clips..
Yeah, but pretty minimal. Reed was incredibly serious.
Reed and Sue were serious
Johnny is supposed to be funny, but Quinn’s version was more serious than Chris Evans’ iteration.
I had zero problems with humour in F4.. none
The moments between, Johnny + Ben, Johnny+ Silver surfer, Herbie
FF powers meaning you don't like Incredibles too?
Incredibles is far and away better than the FF. Those powers look way better in cartoon form as well
I agree with this.. there were stuff in Superman that was unique like pocket universe
Same I loved the restraint. Especially after love and thunder.
Oh what some f4 spoilers
Yeah, but what does that have anything to do with my point? Superman was more of a mindless popcorn movie, so people would prefer to watch that
Ya.. let's not talk F4 in here
F4 even opened below Superman and the latter has crossed 500 million.
You mean F1
The scenes were they took time to show us these characters are praised, most people glaze the family aspect of the movie which is good , what scenes solidify the family aspect?
Nah F4. It has opened below Superman by 2 mil.
More the the quieter scenes show there family dynamic
Oh yes.. it is all about legs and word of mouth.. F4 has that too
Yes, it’s supposed to do better due to the family aspect.
Superman does have more action scenes than F4 though and people love more action scenes esp for a repeat viewing
Idk
We’ll see
One reason Superman is doing well is because a lot of people are watching it many times
I think at this point.. Superman could be the biggest superhero movie of the year
I think it was earlier predicted to open more than 220 million.
Superman had a clear message, one of the them where actively intervening in international politics and even inspires the less actionable Justice gang to take action by end of the movie to stop a situation they found to be morally wrong, similar to current events in America where people who have power are just sitting idly by and watching democracy get crapped on- it’s meant to inspire people not to be bystanders.
In contrast, F4 resembles a “disaster” movie, with Galactus as an overwhelming force of nature. It’s got cool implications for MCU story, and also the whole Sue breaking stereotypes of pregnant woman thing was good.
Clark faces challenges in being recognized as “human,” as seen in his intense discussion with Lex at the film’s end. It’s not just a one off either there are many others throughout the film that to me imply it’s meant to serve as an allegory for the experiences of non-white immigrants and undocumented individuals, whose intentions are often questioned.
Superman is white. He’s also Godlike
Can’t compare tbh
Your average immigrant in America had to work much harder and the struggle they went through isn’t something I would compare with a fictional Godlike character who could conquer the whole world if he chose to.
Less action does equall better. Just look at Andor.
Damn
You’re right that Superman is godlike, but his story isn’t meant to be a 1-1 match with an average immigrant’s life.
It’s metaphorical, Lex’s manipulation of the media mirrors real world xenophobic propaganda, where fear is weaponized to turn people against immigrants or undocumented groups. Superman’s character is recast as a threat, not because of his actions, but because of what he is, a foreigner.
reflecting the way some immigrants are vilified not for their deeds, but for their origins or perceived differences.
Another moment, this one is small but highlights solidarity among the marginalized. When bystanders remain passive, it’s the immigrant who offers a hand, someone who knows what it’s like to be scapegoated. It’s not subtle, and it’s not meant to be. It’s empathy through shared struggle.
Supergang who once trusted Superman begin to doubt him after Lex’s propaganda. This reflects how public perception of immigrants can turn quickly, especially when institutions and peers are influenced by fear based messaging. even integration and contribution can be undermined by suspicion.
The conversation with Lex and Superman is on the nose, so I won’t recite that.
@wind adder JUMPSCARE
For me it just felt more emotional
I left the cinema with profound sense of hope and happiness. With fantastic four I enjoyed it and was excited for doomsday but that's it
Hes also an alien. Doubt any average white person can relate to that 🤷♂️
You’re like Lex
The sight of Superman just disgusts you
You hate Superman
You are somehow more obsessed with this movie more than people who like it
Doesn’t make sense lol. Superman and Batman are my favourite superheroes after Spider-Man.
Sure don’t act like it
That’s funny because I think Corenswet’s Superman was the best live action Superman after Christopher Reeve. I just didn’t like the movie as much as people here in the server.
You actually sound like a fanboy
:(
I was predicting 600-625 by 30days…
You^
Yes, looks like they might be short a bit I think…
Not really gonna help that much… Disney pushed hard for Fantastic Four, I still think Superman didn’t have enough marketing penetration.
Word of Mouth will get it done! At least that’s what I’ve been doing for the film.
I just need this DCU to not fail when Brave and the Bold is out!
I see loads of videos on both Youtube and TikTok marketing Superman, not much of Fantastic Four.
Guys, I saw the movie when it came out and found it mid, would a rewatch change my mind? I have the possibility to go watch Superman again because of my unlimited cinema subscription
For me it's whenever a new flash is announced, that character deserves so much more 😮💨
So i guess just because you read a page from the Quran doesent mean that they all believe it, just like Superman didnt go for his parent's original message.
I’m just tired of Frank Miller Batman, I find him boring.
Even the newest ones
The Batman had me and my four other friends bored out of our minds.
I think he was introduced too soon
And affleks Batman is not franks Batman that character had build up
But like Batman after that has been more serious and edgy in the movies which is why I got annoyed. Brave and the Bold animated show was so different yet so cool because you use every hero!
Corenswet Superman is not the best yet
Christopher Reeve will always be the best
I mean Frank as in all the edgy attempts of making any nu-Batman.
Well idk about always cause I think David needs at least 2 more movies to surpass him
Can’t you read?
I said he’s the best live action Superman after Reeve.
Both Zack and Nolan were “inspired” by DKR…
I was just giving my opinion
In a distant future it works as one of the possibilities
But in Batman's prime I want him to be as slick as a ninja
I also dont want him to be West batman.
I hate Batman being super serious.
Batman is an edgy and serious character lol
Brave and the Bold isn’t that
I want DCU’s Batman to be like dcau if he had a robin and fantastical
So if you dont have Adam West Batman, and you dont have serious batman, what have you got?
It’s not Frank Miller who did that. He always was a serious character since Bob Kane and Bill Finger created the character. Only during the silver age, Batman was written as campy, but that was all DC characters back then.
Burton’s Batman
Nope. Not when he premiered, he had a past in issue 1 but that wasn’t on his adventures lol
so serious batman
Wait no Batman Forever
Batman Forever
He’s not Adam West but he’s not that serious either
And I liked Batman Forever
He wasn’t. He just shot people and hanged them on his glider.
That isn’t edgy
That’s just pulp
Batman was edgy and serious when he was created lol. Maybe pick up a comic? He was only campy during the silver age, which is what the Batman tv series was based on.
the credit card dude?
I meant Val Kilmer
How isn’t that edgy? Hell, he used to maim his enemies back then. If anything he was more willing to kill.
Even though him and George Clooney’s Batman are the same, Kilmer was way better
he was dark and edgy, clooney wasnt
Then Dennis O’Neil brought back Batman as the serious and dark character, which is what he always as intended by Kane and Finger.
cloney is the only live action bat who didnt kill anyone.
pattinson:
in the burtonverse, my bad
The Brave and the Bold cartoon and Silver Age Batman were just more goofy iterations of a serious character. Kinda like what Roger Moore was to James Bond.
This is like saying Superman is an edgy and dark character due to Cavill’s version. When, he’s supposed to be a lighthearted character.
Which is what Gunn brought back in this movie
Likewise, Batman is a serious and dark character. Adam West version of Batman is what Cavill was to Superman.
i dunno, i prefer dcau superman, i think.
There were elements of edge for the character but that wasn’t in his adventures at all times. Brave and the Bold was him experienced and having fun with his enemies even in the middle of his struggles. I grew up with that animated show with a mix of gold and silver age. So yea I prefer a mix of that over the new ones.
dunno if i can handle a swashbuckling batman that no one's afraid of.
It’s just a cartoon tbh, why make a family friendly cartoon into a dark and edgy brutal Batman
Opposite, he’s not really afraid of no one.
It’s like people being mad at Teen Titans Go like get over it
There was always that edge to his character. Brave and the Bold isn’t his mainstream portrayal. I don’t care if you grew up with that version. There are people who grew up with Cavill’s Superman, that doesn’t mean Superman is a dark character, is he?
It’s a kids show
Batman TAS and Arkham games are the best adaptation of the comic books. That’s how Batman is supposed to be
and no one.s afraid of him.
I prefer the Brave and the Bold, I don’t really care if it isn’t, it’s something different from a consistently grounded approach to Batman since 2005.
Absolute yes.
I respect that
we all have opinions, some are just not bright enough to understand
Say that, instead of misinforming people that Batman is supposed to be a goofy character
He didn’t
He did
He just said that was his preferred version
Batman carried a gun in his first comics, goofy my ass.
My apologies if I didn’t make it clear, I didn’t want to say he was definitively silver age. Im at work.
Gunn also stated DCU Batman will never be campy.
On everyone’s lives here the best Batman is Batfleck
#SellTheSnyderVerse
#ReleaseTheSnyderCut
#Supershit
It’s dead. Nobody cares about the Snyderverse aside few.
Best batman was Keaton for me.
Best Batman is DCAU Batman imo
Yeah my fav live action portrayal.
pretty sure hes joking
Live action though I’d say it’s Battinson
I don’t think I’m wishing him to be outright goofy but more like a classic World’s Finest style
Conroy for animated, of course.
Auraman > Supershit
i havent seen the burton/schumacher series but my favorite live-action Bruce is Bale and my favorite live-action Batman is Pattinson
The best Batman in general was Kevin Conroy though.
Period
Keaton has more Bruce time.
The best Superman is Nicolas Cage
i havent seen the burton/schumacher series
yah, the one that cant fly, needs bodyguards and has Braniac fighting polar bears.
Who
Harley Quinn and Brave and the Bold one
No other Superman has been able to fight a huge spider all I know
they just never faced one.
Will Arnet Batman is a great one
Agreed, but Cavill Superman had better fight scenes.
ive only seen Cavill and Corenswet. the latter was way better.
Zod one was cool but it’s just pure destruction with him barely saving anyone and causing more casualties
Especially in BvS’s POV
they should have taken that fight to the antarctica
Why there
no collateral
Imagine you’re a kid watching Superman 2 then later watching MoS
kids today wouldnt get the reeves movies
Cavillman should’ve made sure the entire fight took place in space.
I saw a clip of Zod throwing a wall at Superman from Superman 2.
So humble vs the city destruction seen in MoS and BvS
it was 1980
I couldn’t tell. (Sarcasm)
Reeve’s Superman was smart enough to later fight them in the Fortress
The fight in MOS was just pure chaos. Great fight though.
Liked the cinematography and action. I think this is where Snyder’s strength lies, but the writing was just too flawed.
Superman returns had no fights. just a humiliating beatdown.
Destroying five office buildings with one throw.
I found that movie pretty boring when I watched it first as a kid. Now, it’s decent.
Lasering a side of a building compromising structural integrity.
Poster looks cool
Idk I like it a lot
Haven’t seen the film. Just the trailer
Highest IQ Superman is also Christopher Reeve
When I was 5
not a fan of the supersuit neither.
Technically Superman 3.
Superman Returns was nice
Superman Returns is like good but forgotten
It’s like Batman Forever
Yeah
It’s missing that oomph
Like there’s not really any big charm in it
Like other Superman movies
It doesn’t feel special
But it’s good
Like a 7.5/10
Same level of Man of Steel imo
Really weird era of CG big budget films like Sky Captain
Val Kilmer’s Batman felt out of place in that silly movie. He was a good Batman/Bruce Wayne, but Schumacher’s direction was the main issue.
The cgi is inconsistent for Superman Returns
Like one moment his suit is bright while flying then the next it’s very dark
I like the suit but it’s too dark
Made the batsuits ultra sexualized with the huge codpieces and shit.
At least he apologized. Schumacher that is.
Have yet to see Bat and Rob or Forever
Not even Burton.
Nicholson's joker is where its at.
According to Bob Kane, Kilmer was the best Batman.
the burton Batman is a joker movie, make no mistake.
and its a better one than anything Joachim Phoenix ever did
I'm sorry, i cant pretend like i like it. Its another movie that was forced to be changed into a dc movie
the joker movie
That movie had the most reactions vs any other movie I’ve shown. Even my dad was quite thoughtful of what he saw and that’s rare even for anything comic like.
What definitely helped the first is its indirect imitation of 70s grit films. My dad’s favorite is the French Connection so Joker was a bit easy to win him over on aesthetics alone.
Another movie forced to be changed into a DC movie?
Which is the other movie you’re referring to
Not really
Do you think TDK is a Joker movie too?
Yeah, mostly, the Batman character doesn't really evolve or have a noticeable arch. Except for the Rachel part
Anyone even read DK3 Master Race?
He has a very clear arc I’m ngl
He starts off cocky, breaching international borders and rounding up criminals faster than they can be processed, but this only makes the situation worse and in the end he has to kill his own myth to restore order.
Joker is emblematic of him thinking criminals are black-and-white, “punch them and lock them up” thugs, and demonstrates how brute force trains them to be craftier
You see more of the Joker than batman and Nicholson has top billing, his name comes before michael keaton. plus he had a higher salary
so yeah, joker movie.
Teehee. As soon as I saw that she responded to me saying that she thought it wasn’t mature I knew she was going to drop a fat take. Lol. Typical Amelia fashion
Whose Amelia
Once member here
Loved this worldbuilding from Gunn..these are the heroes shown in the Mural at Hall of justice.. interesting that Maxwell Lord is there too.
Out of all these characters I only knew about Wildcat as he was in that one Justice league unlimited animated series. These are super obscure characters and Gunn has said we may see a couple of them in movies soon.
I need to show this message to so many people I know who don't like the El change lmfao
Soo that crouched guy isn't jay?
No
Awww
Unfortunately its incredibly common with a lot of movies now
At this rate, doomsday will be on disney plus 1 week after its theatrical release
T'was a joke
That wouldve been so fire to see
Y'all got a take F4 talk out of here

Cos WB is happy with just 500 million
It's August 28 I think.. still a full month remaining and it would have made vast majority of its money already
Oh come on.. I think major marvel movies will get a minimum 45 days and we are living in a time when most movies make most money in that time..
Sinners was in theaters for like 3 months
Damn
I’m sure if you give Superman 2 months it should reach at least 750m
I wonder if brainiac have something to do with the change in krypton
I thought it was the 26th?
Maybe
he doesnt
james gunn confirmed directly that the message was legit and unaltered and authentic and that it will not be retconned
because having it be a mistranslation or brainiac or anything else would literally just undo the entire message of the movie

that red kryptonite hits different
Join James Gunn and co-hosts Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt) & Steve Agee (John Economos) for the official Peacemaker podcast. In this episode, they break down Season 1, Ep 2 (“Best Friends For Never”) with special guest Robert Patrick (Auggie Smith), sharing behind-the-scenes stories, laughs & DCU insights. In this episode, the team dive...
So much passion from Gunn it’s wild
Ya, he loved making this show.
I don't mean this
I meant what if Kryptonian in this universe are working for or with brainiac
His parents had no choice but to obey or something like that
i mean it would still undermine the message of the movie
the point is that his parents wanted him to be a conquerer and a ruler
if they were forced into it then it wouldnt be so impactful
Exactly
I don't think Brainiac is involved as well
fun fact: this is the first non-Batman related DC movie to make $500M since 2018’s Aquaman.
There have been 10 non-Batman related DC projects since then.
This just shows how DC brand was in tatters
Somehow ai didn’t recognize Bradley Cooper
Also Mr. Terrific’s costume design is amazing
Yes
They shouldve made these into popcorn buckets for MoS
Very 1:1 from the source material.
Superman was stressed dawg.

Lex monkeys seeing this:
I love how the Justice gang’s outfits are literally just letterman jackets
It adds to the retro campy vibe super well
Love this film
Well I’m a punkrocker, yes I am.

supes is out on vod on aug 15th
Final reckoning coming AFTER rebirth and Superman is crazy
I’d heard it was supposed to be on 26th idk it’s still up in air till we get official confirmation but my bets on either 15th or 26th
Why so fucking early
Evil long hair David Corenswet had me acting up lowk
💀
Can't wait to see the consequences of that
What am I looking at
Boravian pm death
Watching this later lmfaoooo
I was ranting to my partner the other day about this, but those guys & Critical Drinker & Co. are just a cesspool in the realm of film & media critiquing. Achieving contradictions at a speed I thought not possible 😭
Anyways this scene GOATed
There won’t be any consequence
James Gunn’s ‘SUPERMAN’ has become the first solo Superman movie to pass $300M domestically.
Read our review: https://t.co/3sWy8gsNCU
Because it’s a comic world, no consequences
That's surprising. Never thought I'd hear him talk about Superman
Damn, he's fast
he watches like every new movie and posts about it
I see, didn't know that
whenever kojima doesnt like a movie he just posts that he watched it with no review, if he likes the movie then he writes a paragraph about it
That's a good way not to discourage some Hollywood crossovers
Post MGS Kojima is mediocre
Death Stranding was one of the most boring games I’ve played.
Then he ironically claims modern games are boring and safe.
I've bought Death Stranding Director's Cut and have yet to play it, it doesn't really appeal to me. But anyways, I'm happy Peacemaker season 2 is coming out soon. Hawkgirl and the Green Latern is in it, I've also heard that the first episode will have a lot more nudity than Season 1
Peacemaker S2 is pretty much a continuation of Superman in a way.
I bet Superman will have a cameo.
Yeah, 1 month post Superman. I wonder what we will see
99% sure this is a Superman: Brainiac adaption https://x.com/screentime/status/1950947751400812945
Guy Gardner posing in the middle
That guy had a six hour stream of him critiquing episode 3 and the nitpicking was so absurd and stupid it’s like his ilk became EFAP for that episode.
I believe this was before the southpaw drama SK got himself involved with because his channel purged older videos that had a similar EFAP format. One of the complaints they had was in Utapau and saying how location of the Obi c grevious fight was a major oversight because the catwalk/open space surrounds both characters when the establishing shot is clearly set on the repurposed trade federation ship that’s placed on the side of the hole city.
Tl;dr for a moment he became the very thing he swore to destroy.
SK annoys me because too often they just dont respond to something in what is meant to be a full response vid
They play that "i will not dignify that with a response" over an over
Yea. At this point I feel too old to even deal with the likes of these creators who act like they know how to criticize film without actually trying to look for artistic intent of the product.
That’s not to say some are just cash grabs like Epic movie, but there is thought to lots of films that is coming from the head of a director and while it may be a bit wonky such as Anakin in a starfighter in Episode 1; the artist (Lucas) recognizes this odd situation but also uses it as a part of the motif of symbionts throughout Episode 1 and the saga as a whole.
Small rant here:
Just open up a criterion copy and just read a nice essay about the films or better yet listen to the commentary. One of my favorite criticisms is that Ridley Scott “changed”. When in fact Ridley has been exploring the same ideas he had since Duelists and Alien along with incorporating himself as someone who is an atheist in amidst of the beliefs of man and their struggles with mortality. It’s been there since Alien but also Prometheus’ plot which was a thought he had since 97’ commentary. He hasn’t changed at all, if anything he’s been given more liberties which unfortunately exposes his narrative weakness when picking a good script writer.
Superman still good

Oh thats nice
Superman & Supergirl: Brainiac
Honestly I want to see Lois lane led series
Maybe the time she first date Clark or something
It would be sweet to see their relationship started
Even tho we already know it'll happen
Of course this will be the side story
The main one will be journalism
I doubt Gunn will do that as a series
We are already getting a Jimmy Olsen series.
That's not officially confirmed
Idk if that’d work
That’d be really pushing it tbh
Like it’s an interesting cinematic world but nobody would care to watch a Lois lane series
That’d just be a waste of money
The New Adventures of Superman ran for 5 seasons, I think
That was pretty much her show
Ok, 4 seasons
BTW, Gunn has to be very careful here because they can't make the same mistake as MCU whereby some of the TV shows were required viewing before watching movies like Multiverse of madness or Marvels and casual audiences don't like that.
So, I highly doubt we will see a DCU show with a prominent character that's a must see before watching a movie.
I don’t think any of these movies or shows are going to be “must see”
I’m pretty sure that’s the whole idea
It’s not one overarching thing so much as a bunch of stories set in one universe
Gunn has said that Lanterns TV show will give a hint on the big picture though but ya I can't imagine Gunn being stupid enough to make TV shows must see before watching the movies
But I don’t really think any MCU TV Show is a “must see” either
I think they just advertised them that way for some stupid reason
If The Marvels was our intro to Kamala Khan, it’d be no different
They’ve made themselves look inaccessible for no reason
Loki is
Not because it's needed to understand other things, but because it's peak and contains what is arguably the best character arc in CBM history
Yeah Loki is fab
But I bet you won’t need to have seen it to understand Doomsday
They’ll catch everyone up
it seems like loki will be an important character in doomsday, but as you said im sure they will catch people up
Doesn’t look like Superman will reach 600-625mil prediction I had, unless this weekend has a massive boost. Which is still not likely.
FF is also falling below my prediction, I’d thought they’d reached 300mil by now.
Same was far of with my prediction. I should have based it on Superman post 2000 track record rather than gunns track record
so basicaly it wont be an extended universe because all projects will be disconnected.
That’s a oversimplification of it. They will be connected just not homework related to the point any outsider can engage with whatever narrative is out.
can you give me an example?
No it will be a extended universe but the plot from the show won't have direct effect on the movies.. that's all. For example, we saw Rick Flag Sr in Creature commandos but we didn't need to watch CC for Superman.
I mean...Wandavision was kinda of a must see for Doctor Strange multiverse of madness I think. Same goes for watching Ms marvel and WV before Marvels. A lot of people also felt they needed to watch shows before Thunderbolts but I don't think it was needed.
Well lanterns has guy
Ya but I don't think he has a huge role in it
James said it's mainly his story so idk
No he said.. it's mainly the story of John Stewart
Sorry i meant John
Sure
what
Not sure but I think John will end up being one of the jl 7
I think so as well. And I read that Gunn is a huge fan of John Stewart too.
So does it make lanterns a must viewing
I don't think you would need to watch this show to understand what happens in next DCU movie.
To understand johns character?
Again, if you require casual audience to watch shows before watching a movie then they won't watch a movie because that's like doing a homework.
If you are interested sure but what I mean is that it is not a must watch to understand movies.
The audience might be unfamiliar with John?
Unlike the big 3
They were also unfamiliar with Justice gang in Superman or Metamorpho..
Fair, but we expect character build of them in the future
I also think if people love John in Justice league movie then they can go back and watch his show.
Cause like they might need to go back to it if this show introduces oa and the lanterns cosmic society too like the guardians.
I doubt it
If people are interested sure but it is not a must watch imo
Rick flag Sr is in Superman and he is one of the main characters of Creature commandos but people didn't need to watch this show
Right
