#Superman

BTW hall of justice had some JSA paintings
Not sure if the guy had to read a bunch of Superman comics to make the movie
Oh nice
Watch the animated series maybe.
Can literally watch an hour of this https://www.instagram.com/reel/DL-JHqeAaIb/?igsh=MXR4Z2t1M25ueWF0cA==
Walk, run, or fly to the nearest theater, #Superman is playing RIGHT NOW!
101020
James Gunn was introduced to the superman character he said by reading comics back when he was 5 or something, then read comics throughout his life and yes we see a lot of comicbook references like from All star superman, Superman birthright, For all seasons etc
Ping to read later
Peak
The movie seems to love the number 3 a lot the opening text references, 3 centuries, 3 decades, 3 years, Lois and Clark have been together for 3 months
I have no idea why I doubted James Gunn
Where I left off
Has the movie been out long enough to unspoiler text
.
It's been a day since it released.
Sean gunn too.... And I saw on the article it said Maxwell lord but I didn't pay enough attention to that so I wasn't sure enough
I like ||Supergirl's cameo I wonder if she's wearing a tench coat because they didn't have a proper Cape length for Milly Alcock yet||
I also like that they made playlists for the characters
And that Clark Kent's playlist has The Middle by Jimmy Eat World since the band was also in Smallville, The Middle from the album Bleed American was in a Season 1 episode and Pain from Futures was in that one bodyswap episode
They could've just closed their eyes lol. I remember my dad would do that to me
They have been wanting Glenn as booster golf
Gold
What'd the dude think
Also just realized Mr. Terrific's playlist has MF DOOM
Madvillain too, makes sense he'd be a Madlib production fan
That's a funny insult tbh
This is I think the most vibrant looking Superhero movie I have seen in a good long while
I don't know if that says more about this movie or the state of current superhero movies
I also had my doubts about Nathan Fillion but he actually pulls in a pretty good Guy Gardner
||ANOTHER movie in recent memory which features an actor giving a dual performance ||
Banger
I assume that ||Krypto was sent with Kara instead of Kal-El though if the Kal-El was indeed sent to conquer Earth what's the deal with Kara||
||it makes sense why they wouldn't show Superman's origin we all know it from heart at this point but we need A LOT more explanation for Kara is she Kara Danvers like Rebirth or Kara Kent like the DCAU and raised in Smallville? Why was she sent to earth? How was she established as Supergirl?||
They’re gonna make a ||Supergirl|| movie, so maybe they’ll touch on that
Lol
As if it’s even close
Man Of Steel sucks
Why were they asking if ||Superman had a harem, they should've been asking Jimmy||
Ah, because of the message Superman's parents who said Superman should take many wives
Like something you might see in the animated films. lol
Yeah but Superman pulling more than one wife? Nah he isn't even on the same level of Metropolis' biggest player
Who told you to tell these lies lol
The guy who’s now part of the justice gang lol
Superman
Not even a contest
superman harem is such a james gunn idea
Is it lol
i thought the movie was fine but idk why i expected more daily planet/clark kent
i remember james saying that’s what’s so cool about dc over marvel and i agree especially with clark kent and bruce wayne so i hope we explore that in the DCU
When they cast actual people as all the Daily Planet staff I thought that meant a lot of time would be spent there
I’m sure Gunn is casting with the bigger picture in mind
Both were decent to me. This movie had better performances.
Man of Steel was fine but I think this was much more in the spirit of Superman
I can’t imagine Gunns Superman snapping any necks 😂
Man Of Steel is for babies who want to feel like grown ups
Superman isn’t nearly as insecure
That's my problem too, like Clarke wasn't shown much and I liked his dynamic with the Daily planet team. So an extra 5 minutes or more showcasing more could have been done.
Btw.. is all spoilers allowed now for the movie here?? We don't need spoiler tags?
What are those ?
Camera lenses with custom housing! The crew I usually work with did Superman so they sent me a lot of cool photos, I was working on Stranger Things at the time so missed all of the fun 😦
Man, those different colored Superman logos are custom housing.. that's so cool
Yeah someone on the camera team always has a high end 3D printer, they pimp out all their lenses and camera builds
Nice
I hope if it is possible you can show more of your cool photos from the Superman set..
That camera team always makes cool stickers too. I have these two from them from bad boys and red one
that’s so cool
When they wrapped they put everyone’s name on the volume which I thought was awesome, and heres a team shot with the dept I work in
Wow.. that is awesome
A lot of the movie was volume work, like when Clark and Lois were talking while the justice gang was having a battle in the background, that was all in camera on the volume
seems like it would be easier to just do that in the apartment set with green screen no
or maybe its easier to map lighting with the volume
that scene is so pretty lol
Yeah recreating that lighting on their faces on set would’ve locked them into a look, having the work and color already completed and on volume helps sell it all much better
Welcome back man, I saw Superman two nights ago. Loved it. Very funny yet mature
I’ve worked with Gunn before, every single detail of every shot is mapped out perfectly, so he knows if he puts something on the volume he’s keeping it until the end
That group picture is pure joy
I heard that he's hard to work with
Because he can be harsh
Here’s my buddy doing a ball pass with David, seems like a good vibe
He is, he screamed at me once, was not fun
It's funny because he doesn't show that in interviews whatsoever. Makes sense but still
Hey look it’s Superman!
How is David though
He seems chill. Bet he can have a good laugh about things
Yeah he just has a very clear vision and no patience for people who overlook a single detail of it
James isn’t mean to actors or rich people lol
I heard that too from the other guy
He's harshed to production crew
Makes sense but still kinda sad to hear
He had this put out of the set of the suicide squad (having out my phone is what made him yell at me, he berated at least 3 people a day over it)
Jeez
I hope the pay is good then
|| So If Jor El is the bad guy, then is General Zodd the good guy in this universe ?||
Maybe they're both bad
What if zod and jor el are friends or something?
And then next time zod will come and said, this is your Kryptonian way
I loved David, but still prefer Reeve. However, Hoult is slowly creeping towards the best Lex the more I think on it
Is David physique huge!
God damn it, I can't believe they gave us star lord thirst trap but not superman smh smh
By they I mean James
Superman’s too wholesome to be a sex symbol
That’s what Guy Gardner is for
ahhhhh
Maybe Kara's parents are actually good guys
maybe kara is going to be the black sheep of the family, she seems like it
a wild card that doesnt obey
Ya that's unfortunate to hear, he's certainly very good to actors as the Guardians actors signed a open letter supporting James when he was fired
wasnt he bullied or something in high school
No idea
Corenswet said that Gunn got annoyed when he asked many questions and told him to stfu, but he didn’t take it personally.
BTW..
This was a really interesting interview where Gunn talks a little about Supergirl cameo and basically says Peacemaker season 2 will give some hint of where DCU is heading towards
Superman director James Gunn discusses how one scene paves the way for a DCU hero’s personal arc, how he landed on his post-credits scene of choice, and who or what the cinematic universe is building towards.
Superman is now in theaters.

Damn
yeah my parents would put their hands over my eyes when people kissed in movies lol
Spinning lasers is something I never expected anyone to do with Superman. But it's so damn cool. I like that his flight has more physical motion. Rather than concentrated refined propulsion.
Feels like he's still learning to master the skill rather than it just being a perfect power he has.
Yeah, cool stuff
I just now realized how odd the costumes are for the Justice Gang, because Mr. Terrific's costume is nearly one to one with his comic look but Green Lantern and Hawkgirl's costumes are clearly supposed to match his but why did Maxwell Lord just force it?
When the costumes were first unveiled I initially thought it would be some form of the Terrifics but no
Same reason the coca cola never changes its font.
Or the fact that BMW can't get rid of its kidney grills
move over Michael Rosenbaum Lex Luthor he's been dethroned as the biggest hater by none other than Nicholas Hoult Lex Luthor
I was scared Superman would be another 2017 Mummy in that it would try too hard to be a franchise starter but they kinda perfected it, it sets up the future (especially with some of the cameos) a lot while still being entertaining on it's own, they're just sorta peeks into what's next
When it comes to Lex Luthor, my mind goes to Clancy Brown and the Young Justice version. Nicholas Hoult played the best of both of those depictions.
I think the best action for me is Mr. Terrific's one ||in Lois's POV|| that was really creative
The effortless ness in using the T-sphere strategically to protect Lois and fighting the lex bots, is the perfect way to show his intellect.
Watched it a couple hours ago and my god
Have not smiled coming out of the theatres like that in a bit
Absolutely it was and btw, he didn't use lasers much probably because he didn't want to cause much destruction.
The exact numbers that WB predicted that's actually crazy
That was awesome and the song choice made a lot of sense.. that song (5 years time from Noah and the whale) and Punkrocker one at the end, I've been listening on repeat
Bro was absuing the spin move in the final sequence
How much was the budget
Is it like the regular superhero $200m?

Gunn having the same vibe about phones on set as professors do about phones during class is kinda funny
It is kinda relieving to hear he has a clear vision about what he wants though
After all the speculation, rumours and controversy, James Gunn's Superman is finally upon us. But was it worth the wait? Will it vindicate James Gunn, resurrect the DCU and save superhero movies? Let's find out.
🪼👄🪼 his comment section arguing over Superman being an “immigrant” 🤦🏾♂️
I don't wanna watch it, can you summarize it
If drinker hates it or liked it
Loved this
Do these clowns not realize that the immigrant thing is being used as a “metaphor” for the immigrant experience. Assimilation, Dual identity, Loyalty to adopted home, Facing suspicion or prejudice despite doing good?
Superman would be an undocumented immigrant/illegal, someone who arrived without legal process, but fully integrated and loyal to his adopted country.
He could also be considered a refugee he fits criteria for both.
Second viewing tonighttt
He said it’s neither bad or good, had positives and negatives to say about it.
yeah i get that
Humans should be lucky that a Godlike being like Superman is good
Indeed
Yeah he spends longer than usual filming, he covers every shot himself, even action that would go to second unit, because of his organization and efficiency, his movies never require reshoots
Especially in case of DCU scenario💀
That's honestly kind of amazing wow
Drinker fans in the comments dont like that supes get beat up a lot in this movie
Jeez....
Does anyone else get pissed off by hi-top films? or is it just me
I dont know what to say....
Seems like he's a bit harsh to the production crew but the productions end up being smoove?
God forbid you make a character vulnerable so he's more relatable??
Yeah the suicide squad was fine, shooting in Panama sucked but that’s my biggest complaint
But what ex told us, he is kinda harsh for no reason
Like the taking out the phone
Icl I thought the suicide squad was great
He’s a bully, he was the bullied and power made him into one
Found this somewhere.. seriously..who goes to watch a Superman movie in a Homelander costume ?
Ooof......
Edgelord
What do you mean he was the bullied?
Taking out your phone isn't really harsh?
It’s ok, Homelander approves
It's just professionalism
His upbringing is well documented
No I see what Ex means
He wasn't taken seriously in the film industry when he was starting out
Well..
Is it? Any source
While I wish he was less of a dick to the crew it seems he's at least a competent director who knows what he wants
No i mean he gets berated for taking out phone
And I guess we don't hear reports of Gunn being a bully in a media because he just bullies production crew and not actors then right?
What a legend 🤩, the aura
Here
James will scream at you and berate you for 5 minutes, he did it to me and about 30 others
I mean you're on a filmset so show some professionalism and keep your phone away??
imo it'd be worse if he was a dick to the crew AND a horrible director
It's just professionalism 😭
Our phones are work tools
If he has set a rule that your phone shouldn't be used is it a work tool?
I heard another story back then too that a girl was yelled at because she got a call from her mother
Tbh even directors like Christopher Nolan and James Cameron don’t like that from what I’ve read.
I was documenting the vfx work on my iPhones database.
Whats ur role
Yes he’s ok with iPads, just not iPhones. It’s silly
Bc I don't wanna make a wrong assumption bc I don't know what you do
Still though he shouldnt be so harsh about it
I feel like he's one of those old heads who assumes that if you have a phone out you're doing anything other than work lol
Yeah
He could have been nicer about it
I love James work, so sorry if his nature is a hard pill to swallow but I worked with him intimately for 8 months, it’s who he is
I don't think it's that deep
I'm a huge Gunn fan but, yelling for using your work phone when that's not even disturbing the production ain't cool
James Gunn being an asshole is probably the best revelation that could be had about him, considering what people accuse him off on the daily
Oh he also has his phone out and posts his selfies from set all of the time
He's prob like one of those old teacher subs when you try taking a picture of the board he shouts u down thinking ur doing something else
He's a director
Yep exactly like my professors lol
Oh really?
He's only nice to rich people and stars I heard
No I'm just saying his authority is different
I’ve worked on 47 movies, directors lead by example 99% of the time
I despise Gunn and this isn’t a big deal. The phone stuff
Yeah lmao
Despise him why?
it's okay to know he's an asshole dude lol
it doesn't mean his work is bad
he's just an asshole
We can still enjoy his stuff and also acknowledge he's a dick
There's a ton of dickheads in film just gotta move on lmao
It just makes me sad.... I hope people find appreciation in production crew more often
I hope so too
You don’t know Gunn lol
It’s not, I was just sharing something that is an issue on his sets and people are trying to defend him, but I’m not attacking, just stating facts as opposed to speculation lol
context?
I will add though did you guys film at the GWCC? I recognized it during the scene where Supes and Ultraman were fighting @stray hazel
Just wanna apologise if I made it seem like I was defending him lmao, I just thought it was plain professionalism but if his berading was unnecessary I completely understand
No but we did shoot blue beetle there when Jaime first comes home from college!
Maybe I'm being too sensitive
You can read the comments above
who do you guys think is that throughline he mentioned akin to rocket?
Oh that's awesome
Everytime ultraman was mentioned I kept thinking of Ultraman: Rising 😭
He told me that “my fucking phone had to be turned in every day from now on and I don’t get it back until wrap”. (That didn’t happen but it’s how he always ended his tirades)
Who's the actress that plays Supergirl
Yeah, it seems like he’s a strict director. I’m just referring to the phone policy, which some other filmmakers also have.
I wasn’t there so don’t know, but is the phone rule not for spoiler purposes as much as anything else? They don’t want set leaks - obviously he’s not gonna post those selfies early, but how can you be sure someone else won’t
Milly Alcock.. she was great in House of the dragon
milly alcock
Ehhhh I can see him trying to enforce professionalism but it could've been said in a nicer way no need to swear imo
It’s an attention thing, we have to marvel at his genius at all times
That's the thing yes
That doesn’t seem true to me lol
im guessing guy, cause of his intergalactic connections, and he is the least expected for me
People could've just been nicer
That definitely sounds like a guy who's been bullied
No offence but you seem to have a slight bias against the man
Dude Ex has worked with him directly
She's getting hella famous in Aus
Pretty sure he knows him better than you do
And clearly has a bone to pick lol
We have produced another great actress 🙌
More insight more like it
For sure, but they sound like a slightly unreliable narrator lol
She was also in that Netflix show Sirens which I haven't watched
Believe whatever you like at face value
I want to meet David
I’ll just stop answering questions. I worked with him for 8 months and have no reason to lie, but everyone seems to not want to believe me. I hold no ill will towards James and I love his movies, but he is a bully and treats people under him as lesser people. It’s just the way it is, I’m sure his backstory fuels this. Have a good one!
We can accept that Gunn can be a dick dude lol
But this is very loaded lol
Ppl don’t understand how much cloud apps and overly expensive pro apps simplified things
Kevin Bacon is in that right?
I’m not saying you lied, I’m saying you have a very biased perspective because he shouted at you one time
Dude it wasn't just one time
So of course you’re gonna have a negative review
You ignore 8 months of watching him it interact with 500 other people
How can he be biased when he's literally had to deal with it multiple times lol
Yeah Aus has it streaming for free purely bc she's in it
Yes
I’m not ignoring anything, I fully accept this was your experience
This seems very backhanded
Then the word biased doesn’t make sense lmao
It really isn’t
Yeahhh my mate told me he plays some husband or something

It does, I can explain what I mean if three people aren’t gonna snap for it lol
You acknowledge I had a thorough experience with him but I’m biased because he yelled at me once? That’s a contradiction
Again I’m not mad at him
I technically broke his rule
(Although I was doing my job, he didn’t give me a moment to explain that)
I fully believe he shouted at you and could be difficult to work with, but
“It’s an attention thing, we have to marvel at his genius at all times”
Feels like conjecture based on you not liking the man
Unless he has literally said that
It’s your disliking of him drawing a conclusion
Ex didn't only work on this production with Gunn though
I’m not doubting Ex’s experience at all lol
Thank god for Milly Alcock man she is what aussie's sound like nowadays
At no point have I not believed them
I trust we don't ride kangaroo's and sound like crocodile Dundee
I make these statements with 8 months of facts, I’m sorry if I didn’t spend more time typing out a list of all the events that led me to my belief. I assumed one example would be sufficient given my unique experience with him
Deadass Ruby just move on
What have I done lol
Just drop it
Drop what
Fun fact: I’ve worked with many big names directors and none of them yelled at me or anyone else for any reason at all. We got thank yous and hand shakes
Unless he has outright said “I want you to put your phones away and marvel at my genius” then it is conjecture based on you not liking him
The school that Milly Alcock went to is sketchy and I hate it so much
That’s not me disparaging you at all
This, what you’re doing, stop
(British directors are the nicest every time)
It’s just the definition of what bias is
You were on Bad Boys 4 right? I don't remember if you said something about Adil and Bilal
I can only watch
Asking questions?
I think you said you've worked with the guy that made black panther
I can alr tell my boy nolan is a yappperrr
I feel like I’m talking to a wall, would you like me to write a thesis paper detailing all the experiences that led to the is conclusion? I can have it to you by next week 🙂
Being a dick yourself
If you ask him a question it'll turn into a lecture
Not at all, I fully accept your conclusion
I keep saying that
Urhhhhh
I remember you talking about working with Autumn Durald and how serious she was lol
Read back
Ok it’s not just me
I know
I ask you very nicely to read back lol
Mans is arguing with someone who has had first-hand experience with Gunn ✌️ 💔
Ruby I'm gonna be so real with you
I’ve said about six times now that I believe you lol
“I accept your clonclusion and experience, but you’re biased”
Please hunker down
Yeah by definition lol
Basically “you’re wrong”
No
let us continue discussing movies
Just move on
Cos I think I’m being misread here
Guys I have question
No let's move on
Alright, thank you all for confirming I’m not crazy speaking with this individual. Back to Superman spoilers?
Whats the next dc movie after superman
Pretend there's flowers
You guys are kinda mean
Bias is a version of the story that is true ONLY to you, hence wrong to everyone else.
I know peacemaker is the next show
Yes please!
But whats the next movie
The authority I think?
Isn’t this chat mean for discussing Superman movie?
That’s not what bias means
My friends from black panther 2 are in London working on supergirl, it’s been filming for 2 months now
Wha??
I have a question about those crazy cameras moves, I saw that Henry Braham uses a very specific rig for all the movies he films it's some sort of gimbal right?
That's me when the authority comes out
How are those wild dynamic camera moves done I swear it was like an animated camera
I did not like the comic run at all
Didn’t Supergirl start filming in January?
Oh! Maybe the movie will be better
Distort, unfair, unjust, prejudice… that’s what you’re calling him, so stop
Especially Warren Ellis's run eugh
Yeah that’s different to what you said…
Pacemaker s2, I think supergirl is targeting jun next year
I’ve no idea why everyone is being so aggressive
Why did you hate it
I’ve only said I believe them lol
That’s not… oh nvm
Crazy conclusion to draw
He utilized the “stabileye” rig for 90% of the shots, it’s literally a handheld camera that’s balanced like a steadicam. A lot of the wild shots were the volume moving more than the camera. I’ll find a clip a friend posted
You’re crazy… do I need to look up the definition of distort? You can be a jerk to someone for 10min and expect people not to be one at you.
It feels like the team has no chemistry that's the main reason why, felt like they were all squished together and forced to be a squad. But that can also be akin to how impatient and not careful I am while reading 🤣
How was being a jerk?
I CANT WAIT FOR PEACEMAKER
That explains the unique look his movies have
Can we just moveeeeee onnnnn
The way the camera moves in the movies he's the DP on is so hypnotic
Moveeeeeeee
Oh wow, the volume used here looked much better than how it was used in antman 3
Just stop replying to each other
Pretty much every shot in SUEPRMAN is like this lol
Rick Flag Sr. looked so sad in the movie, poor guy lost his son 😔
It’s extremely dynamic
Again? What you’ve been saying is literally “you’re wrong” but you just don’t see it. The communication is formed at the target, not at the source.
Don't be rash.... This scene sticks out to me tbh
It's funny
Bro I’m hoping they make the resolution quite emotional in S2
Once again, can you quote even one thing I said instead of putting my words in my mouth? Please.
Something I've maintained is that the CGI in Gunn's movies always feels like it's actually there
Btw I heard that James will let someone else control the direction for batman, because it's not his style
Imagine if Peacemaker kills Sr too💀
Even if they look super CG
Gonna be bawling because I knew for a fact Chris didn't wanna kill Rick Flag
Like all the CG characters in his films feel like they're physically there
It seems fitting
I'm not sure if it's in the way he directs or the way the camera is but it's so relieving tbh
Like peacemaker himself looked shocked when he killed rick flag
The emotional payoffs for that season will be amazing if done right. Cause both Rick flag sr anger is justifiable, but also we the audience have spent time with Peacemaker and have seen the type of person he’s become
Like I don't have to suspend disbelief I just believe they're there
I’d be surprised if he directed many of these other than Superman or big event movies - even Peacemaker he’ll need to delegate eventually
Busy guy
It would be ironic if it's the opposite way
He’s risking burnout
I’m talking about UNDERSTANDING of your statement…. It should be apparent from Ex’s NUMEROUS reactions to you that what you THINK you are saying and what is PERCEIVED is different.
Rick kills peacemaker instead
I’m asking again, can you please quote even one thing I said?
Here’s a video of the stabileye and a cool rig they used for Superman flying shots
Ngl that would be quite the twist especially if he doesn’t mean to
Can yall move on from this petty drama please
Just stop replying to each other
This is a spoiler channel
WOAH THAT WAS PHYSICALLY FILMED???
DUUUUDE
What why are you surprised?
How do you think it would be filmed?
On a green screen
I honestly thought a lot of the flying shots were really well done CG
Most would assume greenscreen
and on a green screen too yeah
I know because i loved peacemaker s1 so much and grew to love peacemaker the character. I absolutely hated him in Suicide Squad, obv it was Gunn's intention for the audience to hate him because he was written to be an uptight jackass. But to see the emotional depth in Peacemaker, his childhood and how he had an abusive upbringing. Pure cinema
James Gunn you did it again
The use of the volume is excellent wow
Oh
Maybe I'm too stupid that I actually think it would be done fr lol
But in this case being stupid works out
This is how we did it on black panther, James way is much better
Peacemaker also trashed Superman in the movie.
I wanna know if that intro shot where we zoom in on Superman's chest and it transitions to the logo was physically filmed too
It looks like it tracks onto his chest
It’s amazing to see the results of the volume when used by right folks.
It's so..... Idk the word but I felt something looking at his chest
I'm so glad they're using the LED Panels more, I think they're a million times better than green screen
I felt.... Energised?
cough cough marvel take notes cough cough
Happy is right but that's so vague
The volume works when utilized correctly
I saw Superman last night. It was a good time, but i definitely felt sorta disappointed. For the first time, I really felt like Gunn didnt let the emotional moments sit like they should've. Im glad everyone is having such a great time with it though. I probably prefer all 3 Guardians movies and The Suicide Squad over it though.
Or should I say... Super.... Man
Will it replace traditional green screen filmmaking? I don't think so, I mean sometimes people use the volume for green screen too lol
Matt Reeves used it really well
The scene with Superman and Lois talking in the apartment with the justice gang battling in the background was all volume, I had mentioned yesterday
Wdym all volume
Obv it wasn't his idea bc it came from someone from the VFX department but thank god he listened
Poor Dominique strapped into all of that lol
I love watching that 50 min extra 'the making of The Batman'
No, the volume only works for very specific shots and has to be well planned
Wth is volume...
You can’t walk onto a volume with a camera and be able to cover all the angles required to cut the scene
What does all volume mean? Sorry im not great with all the terms for filmmaking.
It's LED panels that emulate a background
I really like Luthor
So essentially they are huge walls covered in these LED panels to emulate a background
Wowwww
Unless you can build one 10 times taller with no seams and directionality, and 100 times brighter hehehehe
The Batman used it a lot, especially in roof top scenes, scenes driving the bat-bike
I know a lot about this because I'm pursuing VFX in University rn 😄
Yeah that makes sense
It’s what dune director use, and other directors used
At my college we have a smaller volume that's used sparingly
What software do you use
Wowwww cool college!
Yeah it was awesome
The second picture literally shows one of the biggest flaws, also it can’t do direct lightings and stuff
I took a class on visual effects cinematography so I know how to operate it
Wth I paid so much money to learn animation and these mfs just make me watch yt
The class was very hands on

Depends I mainly go between Autodesk, ae, houdini or nuke
We got to make a bunch of shots with the volume
Woah... Is most of the recordings happened in here
We had like four assignments, two with green screen and two with the volume itself
My mains are AE and houdini
That’s a cool use of it
I prefer Superman because of the acting and action scenes, but I didn’t like how the humour was overdone during serious situations.
Oooo
We had ones with the volume
My professor said industry is moving away from green screens but idk if hes right ont hat
They used it to put the entire crews name on at wrap
Nah the volume can't replace everything
I wonder if James struggle with making character driven story on small amount of character because he always had so many cast
Aw
This is literally the coolest thing ever
Theres a dog
Is your name on it too?
Yeah my professor was just indicating it's being more commonly used
I would not focus on that set at all
I would play with the dog 24/7
Lol
These are all from my friends! I do all my movies with this team, but I was unfortunately in tv world on season 5 of Stranger Things while this was filming so I couldn’t join 😦
Heh, a completely valid use of the kit… but yeah… trying to incorporate any direct lighting into it is a massive pain…
Season 5?!
NOOOO
You are going places
Yep!
What happens 😄
Jks
Is the pay good?
They just film like everything is Georgia now
I recognize Atlanta in so many films now that I've lived here for like 4 years
Haha, I don’t even want to say what tone to expect
Atlanta chatttt
Yeah it’s standard across the board except with Marvel, they are cheap
Universal set up shop near here a bit ago and Lionsgate opened a studio I had no idea existed until we drove past it once going home 😭
I can't imagine living like that
And we can see that with what they produce 😄
Marvel? Really? Wowww
Marvel Disney be taking Ls lol
Skimp on workers you get crap quality
This is Disney's doing
Good job disney
Fr
At least you have onset days, I heard the contracts in for the houses are apparently slave labor level.
Bunch of jittleyang's and fuhulatoogans
No clue what they were doing near our college but I won't question it
yep, when its up go to the Fantastic Four spoiler channel, I worked the NY unit of that and will elaborate lol
👀👀👀👀
fantastic 4!!!
Arhhhh but I don't plan to see fantastic four on cinema....
Being a VFX artist in Australia..
I’ve already got tickets for that
Bunch of whaaaa
Im as fed up with marvel as the next person, but F4 turned out pretty good
F4 seems pretty interesting
It does
I’d say see it in Cinema, Galactus in big screen will be cool to see
And most big production company's outsourcing their VFX from companies in Australia 😤
At least I don't have to leave the country
Thank you lord
I've been working in animation for about a year now and haven't gotten paid really much at all 💀 I'm 22 years old
I'll take your word for it perhaps
Oh they shot real New York days, neat
Like where would you put it between in terms of phase 4-5 projects
Galactus was 100% of my job, I'll elaborate further when its out
im sorry i dont even know whats in the phases, lol.
Yo thank you for making Galactus look bad ass, dude looks like he’s got hella cities all over his body
I'm finishing my degree this yr and have work experience lined up in ILM rn
we filmed from boats, drones, rooftops and helicopters all over Manhattan for him
Did you also work for thunderbolt
Hopefully they offer me a job bc the manager head rlly likes me
I heard that one of the filming took place in Malaysia! My home country!
Just like VFX, animation gets outsourced to like every country on the planet but studios are starting to contract US studios, mainly the smaller independent ones though
nope, that was running simulanteously with live action Moana i was working on last year
Can’t wait, newest trailer looks … intriguing
I dread the sexist reviews
Animators 🤝 VFX artists
I forgot that was happening
Live action Moana
This Alfa started filming?!
Already*
4 months of two people on a boat against a blue screen, it was mind numbing
Oh my god
Can't believe they went on with it
The type of shit you'd see in 2020 on a Zoom call, 8:00am in the morning tryna get out of this fuck ahh class 😂
Somehow figured that lol
and the rock looks fucking stupid (i think theres pap photos online)
did 4 movies with him, always late but super nice
Whose bim?
Him
My professor was an animator on the original Lilo and Stitch and was telling us about a student of his who was working on the Live action remake, he looked so sad in his eyes 😭
Yes who is him
the b is below the h, it happens lol
Oh the rock?
I thought he meant like an actual rock
Haven't seen it yet but did you guys notice that the film was supposed to follow a "day of the week" format
I saw those he looks like a rhino
Can’t wait to see his a24 movie
It's so funny
I didn't expect the super nice part. Because all I heard is that he is rude and arrogant on set. Or something like that. I even heard he peed in a bottle or something
Icl I don't like the rock but it seems like he's reinventing his career
oh no, im not sure where you heard that. hes literally never mean, nicest guy, nothing shakes him. always smiling and friendly
The A24 movie he’s in loooks so peak
My respect for him went out of the window when he was trying to 'CHANGE THE DC UNIVERSE FOREVER'
like i said i did 4 movies with the guy, and ive never seen him get annoyed or angry
He caused a reboot
Well he's one of the reason it happened
Which is more than I could ever ask for
Rock is coming for the Oscar
But it would have happened eventually
Thank you father dwayne
Yeah he changed the hierarchy of the DC universe forever
Thanks to James
In that James Gunn is now the head of the hierarchy

What if that was his game plan all along
That's nice to hear
Did you work on Red One?
Are we just fools then?
Bro icl they should keep the casting for black adam
Not the rock as black adam
But the other characters
Keep him as Black Adam it would be incredibly funny
Literally it would be the funniest thing on earth
Black Adam have to lose sometimes
I cannot imagine what a The Rock DC Universe would look like, he was set to be the next head of it too which is crazy
They wasted such a good cast
I forgot my opinion about him honestly
We'd probably get something like DC Super Pets again
YOU GOT PIERCE BROSNAN DOCTOR FATE
Where the Rock was in the movie 3 times
Haaaa?
Lol
And they fricking wasted it

Maybe with James Gunn he'll come back
What are these.....!
So in the movie he plays Krypto and then at the end Black Adam shows up in a cameo also voiced by the rock and then his dog shows up also voiced by the Rock it's actually divine comedy
And the rock of course compared the red one to oppenheimer
What a clearly humble man
Wrap stickers on my camera case
Blue beetle sticker
Hahaahaha
How....?
Idk hopefully gunn keeps pierce brosnan as doctor fate
Maybe not as fate
Only issue is he's expensive
I'll say zatarra
Have you not seen the vid
No
This is the Superman wrap sticker
He saw oppenheimer and wanted to film the red one in IMAX
Is he directing the movie or something
No ofc not
But he's the rock
He gets to provide input in everything he does
Of course
I wonder how Jake Kasdan is as a director considering I did like Jumanji but found Red One really....meh lol
He was a producer so he can do what he wants lmao
How is pierce handsome as an old man damn
As long as the money keeps coming
I was about to mention that
I'm straight but gah damn
Me too
Mans has kept himself sharp and he's in his 70s
It's this jealousy I swear
hes annoying lol
Todaloo
Jake has no vision, he shoots so much coverage and has everyone do it every different way so that he can find a movie in the edit
Wait whattt
hes a nice guy, nothing wrong with him as a person. just annoying to work with lol
He just.... Goes with the flow?
I KNEWWWWW IT
its sadly 90% of directors these days
they just overshoot and hope to find it in the edit, this is often due to studio interference too
Jake Kasdan son or James Gunn Daughter
Kasdan's portfolio in the last 10 years is all corporate fueled movies
💀
Corporate director final boss
So there's a lot of unused footage then?
id say of the 30+ directors i worked with, 5 of them had a very clear vision
Only studio blockbuster that didn't feel like this to me was Thunderbolts 💀
Who were?
From like the last year
let me chekc
This is probably how Minecraft was
let me check my imdb, i dont want to fuck it up lol
Thunderbolts felt so concise if you know what I mean?
Like it knew what it wanted to do
There was no waffle
I want to be a director one day
Thunderbolts deserved better. Damn good film.
Like it didnt open 1000 other windows for other films like every other marvel film
Hopefully as I grew I still keep this feeling to make it easy for the crews
Thunderbolts was also way better color graded than most MCU fare
@daring trench Joe Wright, Steven Spielberg, Ryan Coogler, James Gunn, and Derek Cianfrance are the 5 most efficient organized directors ive worked with
Funny I haven't seen it
It was just relieving to watch a movie that wasn't backlit from every direction
RYAN COOGLER MY GOAT
Never heard of Derek
he does very heavy drama, powerful stuff
Probably why I haven't
Well bye now
I was supposed to go an hour ago
This is why I'll turn out ugly when I'm 70
He directed The Place Beyond the Pines
I can’t imagine what goes on Spielberg’s minds… from what I gathered from friends who’s worked with him… dude literally has the whole film shot and edited in his head at all times… and any real shot stuff just replaces the imaginary ones
I love Ryan Coogler he seems so chill
Derek did sound of metal
I already know Ryan coogler and Michael b Jordan fw each other so heavy
Guy casts him in almost every movie he makes 😂😂
If he can’t most of the time it’s because he’s unavailable
Are you talking about directing or???
he walks into a room, takes a lens on a finder, and walks around, says what every shot he wants is, then he leaves and his DP (same one since jurassic park) makes it happen. Its fucking wild how insync they are using almost no words
Thought his name was Darius not Derek?
he wrote it, but passed on directing, but it still has his feel
Yeah
Oh wait really??
Damn Google lied to me lol
This is insane woah
Yeah he did darius marder directed it
I worked with him on "I Know This Much is True" its an HBO miniseries with Mark Ruffalo playing twins
He’s a small time director only done a handful of projects
Isn't Spielberg doing a UFO film?
He also worked on the place beyond the pines but as a director
small time isnt the word id use, but i understand your context lol
meant that for the other comment
YES SORRY
yes, The Dish, it shot in Jersey and is already wrapped
No disrespect to Marder
I would rather use the term quiet
Because he writes more than he directs
And he’s also an Oscar nominee
Also isn’t he an editor?
hes one of those over the top artistic types, when he comes to filmmaking he only cares about actor performance. he has no monitors on set, just his hand held, he doesnt call rolls or cuts, and the crew has to crouch or get off set when shooting. he also films a scene he writes in that he will film whats on the page, but keep rolling to film what the character would do before and after the scene too, its very organic style
So he has a very hands on approach?
I just realized this is so far from Superman, im sorry to the mods lol
😭😭
I’ve heard… dude is a machine. One of the actors said that they can ask any questions on the scene and he’d tell you what happened before and after that, and is pretty sure he would know what the character had for breakfast lol
is saying Nicholas is my favorite Lex a too soon statement? because i really enjoyed hating him lol
Oh no not at all
Bringing it back to DC
His Lex is the most hater coded lex ever
I would like to see Riz Ahmed take on a role
Him listing off Injustice combos while talking about his undying hatred for Superman was incredible
But I think he has trauma from playing Carlton Drake in venom
So he’d probably pass
1A 1A 1A 1A
1A 1A 1A 1A
Never in my life have I seen a bigger hater
Straight aura farm the first half of the film
Then he got bitched in the end
Hoult was the most hater coded Lex thus far
Did a damn good job tho
That scene where he's crying as he realizes he's toast before he focuses his full hatred on Superman
Also creature commando’s is linked to the dcu correct?
I liked when he started punching the air himself while shouting 1A
Bro forgot himself
Got a bit lost in it
That scene where he screamed and then threw the cup on the ground and it smashed in slow mo
Mf looked like me as a kid playing injustice 😭
That scene where Clark asked him where krypto is
Surprisingly accurate, at least on character parts, to the comic Luthor… I did enjoy the “team handling” parts though, that’s absolutely new and riffs on the charismatic tech-oligarchs archetype that really didn’t exist before Steve Jobs, and really got pumped up in the post-Facebook era.
(Trying hard to not make a comparison to Elon Musk right now lol)
Please tell me this is true https://x.com/kyl0ooart/status/1944088336924389530?t=xLCb5Ot5ta9A84Fl9X2JfQ&s=19
According to James Gunn the reason he used Fighting game notations is because he hated fighting superman in injustice 1
It’s one of the things that really made me like this version of Luthor, honestly, that while he’s a visionary, he had to have a massive team to make shit happen. Most of the other times we see him, and even in Marvel stuff, we just see the front-person, not the upper machineries (I’m sure there are an army of grunt-level workers on each of the consoles we see in the controls room too)… having a bit of of peeling back of the curtains is kinda awesome.
The charismatic puppy eyes were so good… so good
He also knew that the rift would wreck Metropolis. He didn't do it recklessly, he didn't do it because he didn't know what would happen. He did it because he knew it would get Superman to come out. He did it on purpose.
He would sacrifice a whole city of people just to own Superman
It almost poetic
Just an excellent version of the character
What are you doing in a spoiler group then? Go away! (Jk, after watching the film I don’t think there’s really much story-wise that can be spoiled… the film flows more like an experience).
i fucking loved that part lol
I do love that everyone thought he’s trying to be king, but his real game is getting rid of Supe.
I know I shouldn’t Snyderverse, but the Ultimate Cut of BvS’s version of Luthor, and this Luthor, had the same deep motivations… and that part is so deeply rooted in the comics.
Not just a city, the world
Best move is often the simplest hehe
Fucking idiot (compliment)
I loved the detail of 1A the standard punch being the first in the code list
Absolutely, I actually had a small moment in theater when I realized that mid-repeated commands lol
Everyone hated that moment, when a normal fighting game became Soulslike for a single boss bwahaha
A team that also loves his vision. It’s not like they are being held against there will. They seem to love the fellow.
it’s also kinda realistic, lex being comically evil and still having a team of normal looking people that enable him
@hollow citrus
The “code” guy and the “flying release” guy were actually on his “best interest” most of the time too… I can’t stress how a simple decision to make the villain not “alone” changes the character dynamic so much [pushes pen in mug off the table]
The fucking Twitter hate comment monkeys had the whole screen laughing
Thank you!!!
Not enough of that in movies honestly… I mean even Groot had his Minions right? Ehehe
I love that the movie wrapped them up too and freed them at the end… I was super sad when that happened on screen actually.
Can’t believe Lois and Mr Terrific caused a rift destroying a portion of Metropolis because they kept the portal open too long
Yeah I was digging the “no civilian deaths” thing, so watching all those buildings crumble from the rift felt weird to me
I imagined Ben Affleck running around the streets saving people again unfortunately
I don't think it was really them... Luthor could've collapsed it anytime.
They made the rift start, but Luthor is still the one that decided to let it go on.
This movie does rehash aspects of MoS and BvS
The whole city destruction and the world turning on Superman feeling he is here to dictate humanity
Hoults Lex Luthor is basically Batfleck and Eisenluthor personas combined
I don't want to personally use the word "rehash" but I agree it really takes its sources from a LOT of Superman and DC lore.
But that's also waht made it fun for me... I mean, I knew who Ultraman was before the reveal, but the reveal still made me go "Hey! Shoutout to GENE HACKMAN and Superman 4", you know? It's put together extremely well, regardless of how you feel about the joke-tones.
You know it's a compelling villain when "he's actually right, just that his methodology is a bit flawed"
It does rehash the hatred for Superman from Lex and Batfleck I saw in BvS
Again, not really want to use the word "rehash", but that's a DEEP part of Lex Luthor in the comics... he's into power and control, and that extend to his views on humanity in general... If humanity isn't in control of its own destiny, he has nothing to control himself, as part of humanity... I donno if that makes any sense.
Eisenluthor and Batflec functions as opposite sides of the same coin in BvS, and I really appreciate how the Ultimate Cut spent most of its extensions on Eisenluthor... fleshing out that character really fixed the Batman-leaning imbalance of the film's theatrical cut.
In BvS they do establish where Eisenluthor’s hate for Superman comes from
I loved how technologically advanced Superman was, given that it's the origin movie. Lex Luthor legit developed reptors, metahuman which could change shapes, clone of the superman and most importantly a pocket dimension.
Right, and the Ultimate Cut spent more time on him and bridged his monologue on evolutionary dead-end to his willingness to use alien tech to fuck Supe up.
It's a superior cut, by a long shot, to the Theatrical.
And again, both Eiseinluthor and Lexhoult strikes true to the character in the comics... It's the one part of Geneluthor that always felt off for me.
“No man in the sky intervened when I was a boy to deliver me from daddy’s fists and abominations”
What was the inspiration for EisenLuthor tho
In terms of mannerisms and characterization
MMhmm.. and how CLOSE we are at Kryptonian tech BECAUSE of Luthor, and how close behind Mr. Terrific is, who's mainly stuck on moral/ethics concerns heeh.
I REALLY like the Ultimate Cut Eisenluthor myself... he's super whiny in the Theatrical Cut, sadly.
I hate to admit it, but the motivation of Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor, despite Christopher Reeves being my favorite Superman/Clark Kent mix, was off, compared to Eisenluthor and Lexhoult... the portrayal is way different, but both have deep anger issues and deep mistrust of Superman and Aliens.... again, same as comics.
I’m surprised this movie even addressed the whole Superman killing thing
Wasn’t Hackman and Spacey Luthor motivation just straight up real estate?
No CIVILIAN deaths.
I fucking LOVED this movie
That’s not what I was referring to lol
I think it may be my favourite dc movie
Part of it, the parts that's RIGHT is that he's interested in MONEY... but the parts that are OFF is that what the comic version (and both newer movie Lex) isn't interested in money itself, but POWER... and Gene Hackman's version is constantly WANTING to prove that he's a genius, and get praise for it... while Eisenluthor and Lexhoult KNOWS they are the smartest person in the room.
Spacey's motivations I can't fully remember.... but I think he's more like... Legacy... and to revenge for the tarnishment that Superman caused on his reputation and again legacy (ignoring that he was FOILED by Superman for to his own megalomania and manipulations)... IIRC Spacey's Luthor thinks he's ABOVE the humanity in general? I think he might be the only one to fully express that.
Id disagree on that
Loved this Lex way more than the others
Eisenberg gave like his worst performance ever as Lex
I think they are both about equal in motivation, but Lexhoult is more nuanced, it's subjective which you like more.
Hoult was my favourite performed and written Lex
You should check the Ultimate Cut out if you can endure it... his sort of descent to madness was way more gradual in that cut.
The theatrical version just took him from slightly mad to full bonkers in 15min lol.
I did
Did not like the movie any more at all
ZSJL is a much more effective director's cut
Fair
Way better, agreed, but still not GREAT... and shit it was loooooong
I PERSONALLY feel that each modern Lex Luthor from all the way back to Gene Hackman, including Lois and Clark but excluding Smallville, focused on a narrow spectrum of what the Lex Luthor character is all about... and Hoult is the most complete picture of the character to date, imo, taking account a lot of the character's previous comic book and movie arcs... and modernized it.
Superman and Lois I’d say has the best Lex Luthor
Excellent Luthor, but by serial standards, sort of short... and I'm pissed it got cancelled.. .because the season 4 finale was bonkersome (bokers+awesome).
Tyler is one of the few portrayals that I though was good BOTH as Superman and as Clark Kent.
Capturing The Element Man (or what the name is) and creating kryptonite was definitely cool.
Element Man (originally Metamorpho) in Justice Gang (soon to be renamed to Justice League no doubt lol), makes me super nerd-happy... James Gunn is one of the best at digging into minor characters to add color to the stories... now... someone figure out how to add Metal Men to the DC Cinematic Universe bwahaha. There were rumors that they were gonna do an animated before Gunn took over, I'm assuming the project is dead now
Maybe Gunn decides to make a spin-off show, you never know what's going on in his mind.
I loved how they showed Supergirl in the end drunk saying she goes to different planets to get drunk, that was hilarious
Cannot wait for her film next year
One slight bit of forced exposition that I felt doesn't have to be explained... the Super-bots should know Kryptonian physiologies enough to know that they need a more depowered star to be able to get drunk lol... minor gripes obv.
Sorry to nerd out a bit more... but the casting of Louisa Krause, even though only for a single shot, as Sapphire Stagg, Rex Mason (Element Man/Metamorpho's) love interest and the mother of Joseph (Joey) Mason... yeah... happy nerd
I remembered the emmy/ golden globes event where Milly was presenting the award with rest of the cast and she was so drunk and wasted, it was so hilarious. I remembered that moment and maybe laughed too hard at that scene.
Yo
Oh that's a good observation!
Did anyone feel that her costume didn't fit right? As it was a little big or something? Obviously, super minor gripes like everything.
I'm sure there are even more parts of the message that wasn't fixed or whatever.
He never said he did
maybe her outfit was meant to be in a trashy way since she was drunk and stuff. So her clothes/ outfit being a mess
yes but I assume maybe in some way the video was doctored to make superman a world wide villain. I mean lex had all the best resources in the world to make anything possible. But that's just my assumption at this point.
Oh, is it me, or is Mr terrific's ship the same as Starlord's ship from gotg
No, the film explicitly states that it was authentic... my point is that there's probably more to the message that wasn't recovered, so it's an easy fix.
It also adds to the emotional depth of Superman is Human at the end, watching his adopted parents' footage instead of at the beginning with his biological parents' recordings...
I know I know, nurture vs nature blah blah blah, but I liked that minor twist at the end.
as I said in this
Starlord's ship isn't as round as the T-craft
maybe like he analysed the video and mixed the words at a different place in one sequence?
so it looked like authentic
I know what you mean, but I think Luthor GENUINELY didn't touch the footage, he's too big of an egomaniac not to take advantage of it in all the RECOVERED form... but there were skips in the recording that could've had words recovered at a later date to alter the message.
Tbh I do think it’s meant to be the real footage
Luthor has no reason to lie to the Boravian guy
And the ending of the film signifies that it’s Gunn’s intention
yeah there is a genuine possibility of this alteration
The Borovain Guy was actually Luthor's puppet as they had the deal for half the land to of Jarhanpur to Luthor I'm exchange of 80 billion of arms
I liked the look of it, didnt feel this myself
Luthor is one of those that, when he admits a mistake, he admits it... then he gets up and do something about it... NOT altering the message in whatever the form The Engineer was able to recover, boosts his ego by allowing to say that "see? I was right all along!"... the opposite doesn't make sense... he thinks too highly of himself to doctor footage... he's going to cheat, but he's not one to alter truth.
It wasnt doctored
It was real
Is there any current slate of DC movies announced?
That is made very clear
Right, so why would Luthor lie to him
Its also very thematically important that its real
Boravian guy assumed the message was fake and Luthor corrected him
Luthor has a huge ego, he wouldn’t pass up on the credit
But there were gaps in there, that by inserting a few well placed words here and there, by saying The Engineer didn't have a perfect recovery, could easily alter the message to be positive again.
Actually, knowing how Gunn operates... I have no doubt the full message was already written, if not shot, before the "recovered" version that we saw on the screen was made.
maybe in the future movies this is gonna be an interesting point of discussion, the real footage which got lost in transmission and what it really meant.
It works wether it’s doctored or not though, the key is lex turning people against Superman. The key theme at the end is Clark showing us he’s human. I felt the whole el family, Kent family thing didn’t fit so great cause it didn’t seem like Clark struggled with that specific conflict a lot during the movie. We are fed 3 main scenes the beginning, the middle where el message is fully revealed, then climax and end shot.
Supergirl too would have arrived on a different pod from Krypton right
Yes and the theme works wether it’s doctored or not
I thought it worked well… it’s the place he goes for comfort, and that’s the only think he relies on Pa and Ma for, and the only place that he gets to be a “little kid” again.
It would have been nice to see him struggle a little more to cement that there was some internal conflict within him regarding that. I also could have missed subtle cues
when watching
The ending where he just watched the soothing memories of Kent Family was a big change in his opinion of his real parents because of the video released by Luthor.
I didn’t even recognize Pruitt Taylor Vince as Pa until the porch scene and his iconic eye-dashing lol… then I thought “holy smokes he got old”… then they showed the ending with him younger and without old man makeup… lol
This was good, but nothing overly special. Still very James Gunn, the pacing was solid, and it was so nice to have such a colourful superhero film that wasn't just all grey and brown. The casting was great all round, and it really felt like a film properly within it's shared universe, rather than a solo venture.
I think my major gripe would be that it's a very Superman heavy film, in that, we didn't get to see much of Clark. I would have liked more of him and Lois at the Daily Planet, and a bit more of the disguise, as it were.
Score deffo needs a listen on it's own.
A bit predictable, but super well put together, good focus on everyone, great message and heart.
Predictable or logical? Because those are two different things.
True, we only got one “public nerd journalist Clark” sequence, and 3 inner-circles Clark sequences… slightly pervy geeky Journalist Clark Kent was the major highlight for Christopher Reeves’ Superman for me.
It’s a superhero movie, I don’t come to them for big surprises lol
Predictable is in the DNA
Good guy is gonna beat the bad guy
Good odds on a sky beam or a big hole
I agree that I’d have liked more Clark and Lois btw
More journalist stuff generally
yeah, bit journalism lite
Lex is a manipulator, some evidence is people pointing, “well Mr terrific said he trusts the scientists that reviews it there so it must be real” lex is extremely intelligent. We seem him manipulate events throughout the film, Bolvaria conflict…etc which many other in universe miss.
I’d argue his resolution still hold’s meaning if the footage of his parent’s colonization subplot is doctored or not, when looking at Superman being a literal and metaphorical “illegal alien” he’s is misunderstood and manipulated by media and public opinion via lex to try and dehumanize him. That dialogue at the end hits just as hard. We are in an era where people take videos and clips add their own voice overs…etc to screw “immigrants” over. It may or may not have been intentional but that angle makes it feel more rich.
Predictable, but that’s because I sort of knows how Gunn operates…. There’s a lot of deep cuts, that he dig and draw from… if you know what they are, it’s not hard to guess what’s the next step for the characters. But it’s what I expected, make me nerd-happy, not Shakespeare-nerd-happy, if I make any sense? lol
We never got confirmation of the translation though. Sure, the video might be real, but who on Earth understands Kyrptonian other than the robots in the Fortress?
It would have been nice to see Clark see the undubbed video to confirm it
might be a deleted scene?
“Thirty linguists can’t be wrong” hehe… and I mean, they got the first bit right word on word… and they didn’t know what it was
it would be more heart breaking then just seeing a video dubbed by a already shady Luthercorp+lex
I'm gonna say it, hypno-glasses is stupid
Maybe Supergirl will fill in more info, we’ll see
I think that’s a joke at Guy Gardner’s expense
My understanding is supergirl supposed to adapt, woman of tomorrow or something like that. I wonder if they’d have enough time, especially if it doesn’t take place on earth
It’s also a deep cut to old Golden Age Superman, where he uses “Superhypnosis” to make people not see him as Superman
Nah, gunn confirmed it
https://x.com/DCUSuperNews/status/1939111218637070654?t=ouLN_hAnVfaPi-MXDtTzxg&s=19
This was brilliant
It was called Woman of Tomorrow initially
I dont know anything about the comic run but im so hyped for the film
Except Lois knew about them too
Same I think it will be much more character focused and raw
Isnt she dealing with depression plus other darker issues in that run?
She was already a teen when Clark was born, but due to the dilation effect (different in different iterations of Supergirl) she arrived later than Superman, who became older… classic Twins Paradox.
Had to take a break but im watching the 1984 Supergirl
Helen Slater has such a cute presence to her portrayal
I personally takes her reactions of “yeah” like how I would react to a Flat Earther when I don’t want to argue about it with them…

Yup, Canon, but not part of the glasses, it’s part of Superman’s Golden Age skillsets hehe
Love it that he used it, I didn’t know he confirmed it… I don’t follow much IRL on filmmakers normally
If the original creators had an answer to a longstanding question, why not use it no matter how absurd it is right? It’s awesome that they dig deep.
I think gunn's thing is adding a bunch of obscure references from the comics into his films, like the robots for example
Makes me happy… his fan services are on point, ngl
I'm dissatisfied though the fortress of solitude didn't have a giant key that only Superman can lift to enter
RIGHT?!? heheeh
Though, I mean they have Ultraman
And no fighting in slightly slow-motion on the moon, sad bwahaha
Merging Nuclear Man's origins into Ultraman... again... makes me happy
heheehehehehehehe
Movie made me giddy as a schoolboy, and I haven't felt that on a DC film forever
I think ultraman was in Superman red son
Alternative universe evil Superman, from the original Pre-Crisis (on Infinite Earths) Earth... 2? 3? Forgot
He gets more powerful when he gets in contact with green kryptonite, and he ||snorts|| it like a drug lol
I think in his universe, Krypton wasn't distroyed, and he was raised by Zod when he took out his parents? something like that... been a while
I am not super up to date on post-New 52, so I don't know his origins and whatnot in the newest comics... and I'm way too lazy to google it right now lol
No, it was an elseworld story where Superman landed in the soviet union instead of Smallville
No, that's Red Son, a Soviet Superman with a sicle and hammer on his chest if I rememebered right... which is late Silver-age... the character Ultraman predates that, from early Silver-age
Oh right, sorry
Not your fault, Silver Age and Bronze Age are super confusing, I get it all wrong a lot of times too... and I was already a teen when they did Death of Superman lol
I lived through it, I still get it all wrong all the time
I wonder if I should stream the shitty film Steel one of these nights hahaha

Go for it
Trying to make sense of the the whole period from the fallout of Death of Superman to Superman Rebirth... already hurts my brain, without adding the random version of Steel with Shaq bwhahah... I love the silly dumb film
I'm so old I remember discussing about how Superman Red and Superman Blue was an adaptation of a 60s Elseworld storyline where he got split into 2 with friends when this came out in 1998 hahah
Sorry, I'll stop nerding out and go back to Superman 2025 discussions

here’s a cool one of David explaining what he did to “become” Superman
Superman star David Corenswet breaks down everything he did to become James Gunn’s adaptation of Kal-El in the latest DC Studios cinematic universe installment. The American actor talks through every step of his journey to becoming Superman: from receiving the casting call during Twisters filming to gaining 45lbs before shooting.
#David...
Man oh man, they are perfect
hahahaa that opener "We got the peeing down to 4.5 minutes" bwahaha
Even the way he just naturally speaks screams Clark/superman
Wonder what props they “borrowed” from the set
permentantly
Wife and I got into a whole discussion on how much of Kryto's performance was CGI... I mean it's IS ALL CGI, but there are moments where I was like "how much time did they hang out of Gunn's dog??!?" lol
I wasn’t massive for the casting at first but now seeing him be superman, I’m so for it
Defo, nobody leaves shoots like this without "I'm gonna take this, ok?" questions hehe
I honestly didn't see it, until I saw him in theaters in full... him that CLEAN shaven and styled... WORKS!
I forgot who said earlier... but I agree... "I need more Clark Kent!"
Yeah, I do lowkey wish they’d have used a real dog. Wonder what the limitations with doing mixed real dog and cgi would have been
Yeah, definitely more Clark Kent in the next one
But we’ve seen superman and it works, I’m happy to see a wholesome superhero movie for once
WAY harder, yeah, full CGI is the way... but the work was done so well and so effortlessly, it BECAME a character... you forget that it's CGI
I was very impressed by the Krypto CGI
ZUPA MAN
