For me it's:
1st place - Fight Club - just love everything about it, but i think mostly, the cinematography and production design. I mean, this dirty, wet, but refreshing at the same time mood is just a killer.

2nd place: - Pi - i love weird movies and this is the best and the weirdest movie i've ever seen. Love the directing style in it, very unique.

3rd place - Memento - that movie is genius. How it was made shows real genius of filmmaking. Also the script is just master.

4th place - Training Day - i love how this movie just evolves. I've always liked the idea of movies that were happening in just one day, from morning to night. Also acting is genius and directin is outstanding.

5th place - La Haine - same thing as with Training Day - the one day story. But what really got me is the style - small budget, looks like it could be made by anyone (anyone good), this urban style is perfect.

Toy Story 3/Kung Fu Panda 1 & 2/ HTTYD - I can't choose one I'm sorry, all 4 are perfect & are contenders for the Greatest Animated Movie ever made title. Personally for me, Toy Story 3 wins by a small margin coz it's just a perfect retelling of the importance of a family/found-family (Perfect ending for any trilogy/franchise too). Also the prison escape plot is just gold. I'll just fucking love this film to death.

Taare Zameen Par/Andhadhun - Either of them can be called the best Indian film ever made. Taare Zameen Par succeeds in being a deeply moving emotional drama. Great songs, performances & dialogues as well. Rewatched it countless times & I bawled everytime.
Andhadhun on the other hand, makes me spellbound on how such a crazy plot was written in the first place. Everything comes into place like a puzzle, has an open ending & has some of the best dark humor.

A Silent Voice - One of the few movies I've cried watching. Some might say it's edgy/melodramatic but the way the film's made, performances, animation everything's top tier. Every scene, every dialogue is heartbreaking. I've read the manga & it's great on its own too.

The Dark Knight - Heath Ledger as Joker is THE #1 performance till date. He was phenomenal, mind-blowing & all the adjectives you can use. Another reason why this is a great film writing wise is the sacrifice Batman makes at the end which increased the respect I already have for his character. Well-written side characters & dialogues too.

Avengers: Infinity War - This is how you make a perfect commercial blockbuster. One of the most entertaining movies ever, a package of all emotions & the euphoria that surrounded it back then speaks volumes.

  1. Godzilla Minus One (2023)
Virtually flawless masterpiece of my favorite genre, brings my favorite character to thrilling life, and brought him and his franchise the recognition he’s deserved all along.

  2. Dune: Part Two (2024)
The definitive sci-fi epic of the modern day.

  3. Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
Flawed yes, but I think it perfectly encapsulates the action-driven side of Godzilla, and it’s a love letter to the franchise’s past. Plus, I have a lot of nostalgia for it.

  4. Interstellar (2014)
Nolan’s my favorite director, and this is my favorite movie of his. I love emotional epics and this is one of the best there are.

  5. Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
The ultimate action masterpiece. Insane setpiece after insane setpiece. Great character work too.

  1. Ford v Ferrari (2019)
Most accurate portrayal of motor racing in any movie. Showcases the power of true passion and determination in a beautiful way.

  2. Oppenheimer (2023)
Truly perfectly crafted in every way. Best theater experience i’ve ever had.

  3. A clockwork orange (1971)
Stanley kubrick’s best work imo. Amazing cinematography and editing, and is probably my favorite character study of all time.

  4. The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)
Just Amazing in every way imo. Wes anderson at his best.

  5. Bad Santa (2003)
Edgy and unconventional comedy. But is at its core, a really beautiful story that touches me deep.

1st place - Pulp fiction - I love how this movie is pieced together. The plot is amazing, the acting is phenomenal, and the movie has an aura to it that pulls you in deeper and deeper

2nd place -inception- I love the uniqueness of these movie. The music is amazing, the acting is so good. This movie makes you think about life and reality in a very unique way.

3rd place -the matrix- similar to inception the matrix challenges your views on reality and captivates you with a unique plot and amazing movie sets.

4th place -American beauty- American beauty has some of the most dynamic characters out of any movie I have seen there is so many polar opposite characters and how all their stories piece together keep you interested. Watching this movie is like waking up from a dream and having a moment of clarity that you want to improve your life

5 -once upon a time in America- this movie has an amazing story line following the entire lives of multiple characters. The music, the intensity, the clashing, the character development makes this movie so genius.

1 . eternal sunshine of the spotless mind - it stands as my favorite movie of all time because i adore every aspect of it. The story, characters, narrative structure--everything is absolutely perfect. what i love most about it though is how it took advantage of the cinematography and editing to tell the story. its surreal and heartfelt and one of the most unique and the best movie ive ever seen

  1. fight club - it's just amazing and exceptional in so many ways. its so hard to come across movies quite like it, and theres something so special about it thats difficult to put into words. The editing, acting, and all the symbolism in the movie makes its message so, SO much more compelling

  2. i saw the tv glow - similar to the last 2 listed, it's cinematography and writing is just phenomenal and made me bawl the first time i watched it. theres a surreal, horror factor that really makes it feel all the more like a fever dream with an ending that breaks your heart and makes you wake up to reality

  3. i killed my mother - most of the reason why i love this movie is because of how much i relate to it lol, having said that, as someone who can heavily relate to the films events, xavier dolan really made a near perfect movie in depicting the true complexities between a love-hate relationship with your mother. the writing of the characters and the events that unfold are just so real, so raw, and ive never seen any other media depict complex mother issues quite like this movie does

  4. all about lily chou chou - this is one of my more recent favorites because of its striking and hauntingly beautiful cinema and story. yes, this movie is phenomenal based on its aesthetic alone, but the writing and symbolism in this movie is absolutely exceptional. there are so many things to analyze about this film, and the disconnected storyline and internal monologues just make it so much better

  1. Good will hunting- no question, the raw emotion in the movie and the dialogue make it so so special to me. Saw it at 13 and that was the moment I realized how fucking good movies can be.

  2. Fight club- the acting, messaging, and editing all make it compelling as a watch.

  3. Perfect Blue- I love surrealism, and this hits the spot so well as we dive into a terribly insecure women’s psyche.

  4. Lord of the rings the return of the king- hard to pick one, but if I had to, I think this is the one, the raw emotion and the feeling of finality after a long, tiring journey makes this movie absolutely beautiful. Not even counting the amazing cinematography and acting.

  5. Shaun of the Dead- A fun, enjoyable comedy that parodies zombie movies to a tee, Edgar Wright is my favorite director and he hits the spot perfectly in this.

  1. Whiplash- This needs no introduction, the beauty of the visuals and colour coding in this film needs to be talked abt more. The character obviously fits the obsession film like black swan. I felt drawn to his ambition and his dreams. Also fletcher is such a good hidden villain imo. A really great film. Steven universe the movie- Grew up watching the show and the movie was abt friendship and overcoming trauma. Genuienly underatted imo. Animation is smooth and stunning and the songs are genuienly fire and catchy. Steve the mc is bundled with trauma but learns how to focus on himself at the end. Peak. Spiderverse ATSV- This movie changed my life when I first watched it the day it came out in cinemas. Visually and animation is masterpeice. Every scene has hidden symbolism and messagining. The forshadowing in this film is mad. Characters I strongly relate to, obvs miles bc he wants to break free of a mold ppl see at him. Voice acting is crazy good. I love this movie for the life of me. It has a good comedy and serious balance I respect. Everything Everywhere All At Once- First watched this when I was a shunned LGBTQ person with mommy issues. God this movie hit so hard, legit made me see things differently. Love the universe visuals in this movie and the raw emotion of Joy's character that I strongly relate to. Deffo need to rewatch this movie. Glad it won oscars.
