#How do NDA's differ between the Movie and Video Game industries?

I asked that question in a search as I don't have a clue.

Being Discord it is possible to come across a gamer on Discord possibly making this a conversation rather than a bunch of people unable to comment due to lack of info know about the Video Game industry.

Why is the question important? Take the mention on the set of X-Men movies how reading comics on set was prohibited. Mentioning that didn't cause anyone to get sued, yet in the Video Game industry it would, if it was under NDA. More often in Video Games there's "leaks" or "anonymous sources" which aren't reliable and due to the social media of today unproven information is promoted as fact. This could result in more harm than good to the Video Game industry. Compared to the movie industry where people are able to discuss topics more freely about the how a movie was made, and that search indicates it's primarily the story and the studio's property that's protected.

Sure it's an odd topic, but me not having a clue about NDA's from either side and how they differ, I'm curious of that and what one industry could learn from the other.

as far as I know video game ndas are rather draconic and haven't been tested as much so they basically throw everything into them. While the film industry has stronger unions who have had the ability to look at various contracts and say "this is not okay" and have more strength to fight them

So basically a lot more is under nda in the games than in the movies. But once signed they are of similar strength

That's unfortunate due to the free nature of storytelling in video games and ability to tell stories unable to be told in a movie or experienced the same way as in a movie.

It makes sense in the grand scheme. Video games are a new medium.

Maybe ability to tell is the wrong way to look at it but more so what people would pay to see.

video games are also in the software business over the art business and in software they tend to have some pretty heavy NDAs as well. Which have just been transfered over to video games
