Hey guys, so I'm an aspiring filmmaker. 🎬 I Just graduated college with a bachelor's degree in film in june of this year and I'm trying to find a job in the film industry and I've found nothing. Any tips on how to get in the industry. I have 8 years of experience counting my high school years in a cinematography specialized school since 9th grade and obviously my 4 years of college, 8 years total. I'm from Puerto Rico btw 🇵🇷 pleasure to meet y'all. I'm new in chat. 😅

Schooling is helpful to get the knowledge, but the main thing you need is connections. I always say “what you know is important, but who knows what you know is more important.” Get connected on Facebook groups, find meetups in your area, and start meeting people in the industry
8 years is a lot of student experience, it could be good to reconnect with some of the people you met along the way. Never break off a connection, because they are everything in this line of work. See if anyone has a job they could bring you on
Creating a social media presence is important. I have a friend of mine who gets all of his jobs exclusively through Facebook and Instagram 🤷♂️
Anyway needless to say it’s not about who you know, it’s about who knows you. Make yourself dependable and prove good work effort. Industry work will probably be pretty different from your student jobs, so be okay with the adaptations of the industry. Be respectful and honest and never be afraid to ask questions
Ty 🙏 imma try that
