I've watched hitchcocks silent films , those are masterpieces
i'm not an expert, but the ones ive seen that i put the highest:
The General, Sunrise, The Passion of Joan of Arc, Man with a Movie Camera (if you like experimental films) (and metropolis, caligari, and city lights)
the other good ones i've seen: Battleship Potemkin (if you like propaganda movies), Haxan, Sherlock Jr
the ones on my watchlist that i'm pretty sure i'll like: greed, napoleon
this list looks good to me. its a top 31 that expands to a top 100

I love the classic silent comedies. I have to rewatch Keaton's The General every so often. Lately I've been getting into the films of Harold Lloyd, who's film often included wild stunts, such as his famous clock scene in Safety Last. Any of his features from the '20s is probably worth a watch.
I recommend the rest of Chaplin's silent features: The Kid (1921), A Woman of Paris (1923), The Gold Rush (1925), but not the 1942 re-release with narration (at least for your first watch, and The Circus (1928)
