Hey,

So, I always went to the regular cinema here with a screen size of 50m^2 (so pretty small). Now, I've finally decided to go to an IMAX cinema for the movie Oppenheimer, to have a huge screen and get the best experience overall possible. Here in Germany, we only have 9 IMAX cinemas.

Does anyone know if there's any difference between D / DL / DL2 / 1570 Fmt? The nearest ones have IMAX DL2 & 1570, and I've booked for now in the DL2 one (In "Sinsheim" if that matters). Both of them have a screen size of about 22m x 27m.

im just learning about this stuff, but it looks like 1570 is traditional film projection, warmer and higher resolution (approximately 16k). DL2 is dual 4k laser projections (so i guess like 8k) that is brighter and crisper and more evenly lit.
so either of those seem fine.
but since there is only around a dozen 1570 systems in the world, it might be worth going to that one, so you can see what 18km long 275kg of film looks like on the screen
