Cinematography and visual styles are almost career defining for Baker since it's a departure from his scrappier style in his early works(Takeout, Tangerines). Probably one of my favorite child performances of all time. After all, Sean Baker's superpower is to allow non professional actors to reach Oscar level. Theme is pretty cool too, I have a soft bone for these trashy realism flicks so obviously I'm absolutely in love with it.
Would totally recommend Red Rocket if you enjoyed this, it's a step forward in almost every way
i think florida project is super good
Good
red rocket is also good, but the subject matter is so touchy, that i'd hesitate to recommend it. but florida project is imo, one of the best of the past 5 years
A movie that was able to capture the beauty as well as the horror of childhood in a perfect way, scenes were so wholesome and heartbreaking at the same time, and the visual choices were perfect, it looked like we were seeing the world through the kid's lens
felt if the very very last scene was changed and continued on with the buildup of the whole movie then it wouldve been an excellent movie
