For example,

I have two eqn. a+b = ±9
and a-b = ±7
If we divide this equations.
Then ±9/±7 results in 9/7?

I think the final result should still have a +/- because it could be that the 9 and the 7 have different signs.

unless the signs of ±9 and ±7 strictly stem from the same source

but that also means wasting effort on maintaining the ± and ∓ and switching between the two as necessary when multiplying by negative numbers

could also be the case that when a+b=9, a-b=-7 (and when a+b=-9, a-b=7)

a+b=+-9 is not a single equation. It is infact two equations

Similarly +-9 is two values. So when you divide +-9/+-7. You need to take all possible cases. Which will give you 4 numbers out of which two pairs are identical

So it gives you +-9/7

well there is one reasonable answer, out of 4 cases, 2 give +, 2 give -, so there is equal chance of getting +-

then another intepretation is that the sign of the fraction depends on whether the signs of numerator and denominator are same (+) or not same (-)
