I’m stuck between west or east.
I think it’s west since the current is heading S25E meaning the x component of the current is positive, Aka eastward, but the ship must cancel that out to still go due north. Would it be west??
vbx =0−vcx =−(positive)=negative
Vbx < 0
So N 3.59W?
If i’m wrong and it’s east please tell me

The correct direction is west.

The Gulf Stream is pushing the ship southeast (S25°E), which has an eastward component. To cancel out that eastward push and stay on a due north course, the captain must steer slightly west of north.

So the ship must head N 3.59° W, not east.
