i know the polynomial would be f(x)=(x-1)(x-3)(x-5)(x-7)+x

You mean you don't understand why that's the polynomial?

no

#

why would the answer be 6

You can plug in 6 and see what happens. Why do you think it's 6?

I just created a polynomial with roots at x=1,3,5,7 (the first term) and then added a term to get the specified values which is just x
Now test some values to see more or less what gets you around 2024, note that 10^4 is way too big so I started with x-1=5 and it was bigger , and then. x-1=4 and the result was smaller, so x=6 works

I'm confused. When you plug in x=6, you get
f(6) = (5)(3)(1)(-1) + 6
= -15+6
= -9, which is not larger than 2024

What am I missing?

yeah

idk

So 6 is not a solution, and you know that 7 is not a solution, so check 8 (and maybe 9) and you'll have your answer.
