youre finding the sum of the areas of the rectangles in each graph

in (1) for example, you can find the height of the rectangles using the fact you know y=5/x

so for the first rectangle, the height is 5/1 and the base is 1
so the area is 5*1=5
for the second the height is 5/2, base is 1
so the area is 5/2 * 1=5/2
then just keep doing that
