What does it mean to have a positive slope or negative slope @bright viper

slope = rise/run , have you seen/heard this before?
Rise is how many steps you are going up, and run is how many steps you are going to the right. So think of the slope as how many times up are you going per one step to the right.

So for example line a: you are going o steps up every time you are going 1 step to the right, so rise/run = 0/1 = 0

So what does a positive slope mean? It means that the line is going up every time it goes to the right

In a negative slope, it's going down every time you go to the right or another way to think about it is it's going up every time it's going to the left

so think going to right and up is positive, if it doesn't go up when you go to the right, then it's either negative, zero, or undefined

remember slope= rise/run, line a has 0 up per 1 step right so 0/1 = 0

Similarly for another line segment in the graph

remember slope = rise/run , your answer would just give you two points (x,y)

so rise = (yb -ya) and run = (xb - xa)

or think of it as, how many steps am i going to the right from A, you're going from -2 to 5 so 7 steps, and how many steps up, you're going 1 step from 2 to3

so rise = 1, run =7

slope = rise/run
