i got the answer, i just dk how it works, like why are we factoring this and how do those answers give me the age

like it doesn’t make sense to me, but all i did was factor it

its because the problem stated that the product of their ages are represented by the polynomial

so if you factored the polynomial, you get the individual terms, or the individual ages of each person

its like reversing the multiplication

like how you can break down 30 into 5x3x2
