is the integral of 1/cosx = ln cosx and the integral of secx = ln(tanx + secx) the same thing?
basically is ln cosx = ln(tanx + secx)
?

I was wondering if these are the same because it is easier to just break down trig functions into easier parts

1/cosx does equal secx

#

but the integral of 1/cosx is not ln cosx

i see

ok thanks for the clarification

#

is there a specific process to getting the antiderivative of trig functions or do they have to be memorized?

for cos and sin u can memorize them

for sec(x) there is an interesting way I learned it, for tan(x) and cot(x) u can use u-sub
