they mean that 'its as jagged as an absolute value function so presumably it continues to infinity'
y = |-2x| is not how you get a function like that
what works is f(x) = |x - 2| + |x + 2| + x
you can assume that its following a zigzag which would be:

most likely youre not supposed to be paying attention to the ends of the function, so whether it continues on to ∞ or not is irrelevant
