This is a formula that you can get from the binomial theorem
or you could think of (a-b)^3 as (a-b)(a-b)(a-b)
So you muliply (a-b) with (a-b) two times
Then the coefficients that you get should give you the answer
As for the degree of the polynomial it should be 3 since thats the highest exponent of a variable (x in this case)
Note that If there is more than one variable in a term you should add the exponents (of the term that would give the highest number) together to determine the degree of the polynomial
