I have this problem, I’ve tried a few things for each part apart from (iii) and I’m just unsure of what to do and where some things come from.

Part i

So far, i have written that as we are looking for the constant velocity solution, x double dot = 0. Then substituted this into the equation of motion given to get V = mg/kv (where V is a vector, g is a vector and m a scalar and v = |V|). I’m not sure that this is really the solution though due to the v seen on the right hand side of the equation. Not too sure what else to try or what to do next.

Part ii

We are given x and x dot, and x double dot can be found by differentiating x dot to get x double dot = omega dot • k. These known quantities can be substituted into the equation of motion from before, which gives us m • omega dot = mg - k|omega • K|omega • K (where ibis a constant and K a unit vector). Where does the V^2 come from in the equation we are looking to find?

For the initial condition on omega, i have said that omega(0) = 0.

Part iii

I believe you need the solution to part ii to be able to complete this.

Thank you 🙂
