#Sign diagrams into interval notations
22 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
so for fractions you cant solve them normally and its made en more complicated w the -1. so take -1 to the other side
how do u change that to an interval notation tho
Ohh thank you sm
i have a shitty way of solving this without elaborate working but idt it helps w all sorts of questions
so ur saying if it was x-1/x-2 > -1?
the answer would be smth like x<2 and x>3
u have to do the working to be sure
for fractions you have to solve like normal algebra first but unlike linear inequalities you can't just change sides and do stuff, so u have to take critical value and then make a sign diagram
drawing a small quadratic graph instead of a sign diagram is less messy imo
smth like this
This precalculus video tutorial provides a basic introduction into solving rational inequalitites using a sign chart on a number line and expressing the solution using interval notation and as an inequality. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems.
