the gradient of AC is the negative reciprocal of the gradient of BC.
You can use that to find q. Then put it into the equation for the gradient of AC to find p.
I don't think thats right
if angle ABC is a right angle
that would mean AB is perpendicular to BC
It doesn't mention anywhere that AC and BC are perpendicular
And if you do it that way, it gives you that q is 5.5 when it specifically states q is an integer
you're right, I got the lines mixed up
are you a-level? do you know the vector dot product?
you can form 2 simultaneous equations by using the gradient AC and the dot product of the vectors BC and BA, because that would equal zero.
then solve the two equations for p and q
no sorry i don't know vector dot
the reason i say gcse - a-level
is cause its preparatory work for a-level but the difficulty of the questions will most likely be gcse
is that the only method?
or are there any other possibilities?
