that would mean AB is perpendicular to BC

It doesn't mention anywhere that AC and BC are perpendicular

And if you do it that way, it gives you that q is 5.5 when it specifically states q is an integer

you're right, I got the lines mixed up

are you a-level? do you know the vector dot product?

you can form 2 simultaneous equations by using the gradient AC and the dot product of the vectors BC and BA, because that would equal zero.

the reason i say gcse - a-level

is cause its preparatory work for a-level but the difficulty of the questions will most likely be gcse

I don't know how i could use the gradient from AC since the y intercept is not given and the points given don't have both an x and y value (given to you)
