u still remember the CAST rule? it states that in quadrant 4, 1, 2, 3, cos, all, sin and tan are positive, respectively

so in this case, cos terminates in quadrant 2, so its gonna be negative since cosine is positive in only quadrants 4 and 1

in question 1, sine theta is 12/13, which is a right triangle with bases 12 and 5 (according to the pythagorean theorem) and a hypotenuse of 13

cosine is equal to adjacent over hypotenuse, which is 5/12

but since it's in quadrant 2 it's gonna be negative, so the answer is -5/12
