The numbers 2 and 4 are solutions to the equation $x^n + ax^{n-1} + ... + bx + c = 0$. What can we conclude about the value of n?

I have attempted to solve the problem by substituting the given values of x into the equation and simplifying, but I am not sure what to do next. I also tried to think about what the equation would look like for different values of n, but that didn't seem to help either.
