I've been going at this problem for an hour now trying to equal them to one another, differentiating either side, it just results in a whole load of nothing.

The answers are a=12 and b=-3, but I'm unsure how they got there.

Ok im still thinking about it but

#

limit as x approaches 0 for the top function will be 0, no matter what value you put in for a

#

so the bottom function must also equal 0 when x is 0, so b must be -4

yeah i got the b part eventually

#

however, finding a is still a problem for me

#

since b is equal to -4, I figured i'd find what x was equal too since both functions have to equal to one another and got x=0, and x=4

#

not sure what else to do with that information
