from your examples, to rationalize a fraction involving complex numbers, we will usually expand the fraction by multiplying the complex conjugate of the demonimator on both numerator and denominator.

#

i.e. Let $w \in \mathbb{C}$ and $z \in \mathbb{C}\backslash\mathbb{R}$. To rationalize the term $$\frac{w}{z}$$ we will have to expand the fraction using $\bar{z}$, i.e. $$\frac{w}{z}\cdot\frac{\bar{z}}{\bar{z}}=\frac{w\cdot\bar{z}}{z\cdot\bar{z}}=\frac{w\cdot\bar{z}}{|z|^2}$$

You just get rid of the denominator.
