so i can play the game on high settings and be fine for hours on end but half the time i try and play the game it is unbearably choppy and I do everything I can think to fix it then just play something else and come back to the game the next day or a couple days later and roll the dice if the game is bearable to play

Most likely an issue on your end, there have been similar issues reported but they generally turned out to be some kind of programm messing with the game in unexpected ways
