...how is what you're getting different from what you want?
Well, isn't the x-axis shared?
You want to overlay both things in the same frame?
...isn't that literally what you have right now?
the space between them is probably some formatting configuration
same goes for hiding the bottom labels
yeah, plt.tight_layout(h_pad=0) would do it.
