A is intolerant of B
Because of that, B is against A

But this is a flawed argument because A was intolerant first - therefor to maintain tolerance A has to be excluded from it.

For another style.

#

Yeah, there should be a better way, but my brain isn't at peak performance at the moment.

#

I would use collections.Counter

#

But

#

In the event you're expected to calculate that, yourself, I would look at using a dictionary as a counter.

#

The idea being you loop through the things you're wanting to tally. Those are your dictionary keys. As you encounter a key, you try to increment its value withing the tally dictionary.

#

If it's not in the dictionary, then you can create the item with a value of 1.

#

Or you could use defaultdict from collections.

#

But that might be prohibited, too.

#

and were it not, you'd just use collections.Counter

#

the result of which...has a most_common method.

@elder wraith- can I bug you about Azure?
I'm using Python because I'm scared of PowerShell and I've already written the packages I need in Python
I've been using this https://pypi.org/project/msgraph-core/, but only because it was the first thing I found.
But the quickstart from the app registration uses the MSAL libraries.
I was worried for a second because the above package uses the deprecated https://github.com/Azure/azure-sdk-for-python, but then I realized I was an idiot and it's ADAL that's deprecated, and that's a different thing.
What actually is the current supported method for Python? Should I get the token from MSAL and then just use requests like the quickstart, or should I work with the Azure SDK?

violet venture
#

For my current project I'll be working entirely within the Graph API

elder wraith
#

I'm using Azure SDK right now, to access Table Storage

violet venture
#

Client system automatically exports orders and sends them to us via email
I'm using graph.com/users/<upn>/messsages to get a list off messages from the sender, and then I'll parse the email bodies in Python

#

Supposed to have a meeting with their "integrations department" to actually implement REST or something, but it's already been pushed back like six times

#

But the emails are templated so I literally just need to auth and get the body contents

elder wraith
#

Oh, email fetching, use whatever works because Graph API is nightmare

#

I think MSAL is current but I don't worry about it

mint sentinel
#

violet venture
#

violet venture
elder wraith
#

Graph API is hell

violet venture
#

Why?
I've just started using it, but it hasn't seemed terrible so far
Are there any other options left? Everything moved to Graph has already deprecated their previous versions, righs?

coroutine asyncio.to_thread(func, /, *args, **kwargs)```
Asynchronously run function *func* in a separate thread.

Any *args and **kwargs supplied for this function are directly passed to *func*. Also, the current [`contextvars.Context`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/contextvars.html#contextvars.Context "contextvars.Context") is propagated, allowing context variables from the event loop thread to be accessed in the separate thread.

Return a coroutine that can be awaited to get the eventual result of *func*.

This coroutine function is primarily intended to be used for executing IO-bound functions/methods that would otherwise block the event loop if they were run in the main thread. For example:
hearty heath
#

Yeah essentially the asyncio loop schedules time on the CPU for different tasks. It runs a task until it awaits an i/o event, where it can switch over to a different task.

Threading seems easier because you're not aware of all the race conditions your program has lemon_sweat (until they bite you on the ass)

asyncio.create_task(coro, *, name=None, context=None)```
Wrap the *coro* [coroutine](https://docs.python.org/3/library/asyncio-task.html#coroutine) into a [`Task`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/asyncio-task.html#asyncio.Task "asyncio.Task") and schedule its execution. Return the Task object.

If *name* is not `None`, it is set as the name of the task using [`Task.set_name()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/asyncio-task.html#asyncio.Task.set_name "asyncio.Task.set_name").

An optional keyword-only *context* argument allows specifying a custom [`contextvars.Context`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/contextvars.html#contextvars.Context "contextvars.Context") for the *coro* to run in. The current context copy is created when no *context* is provided.

The task is executed in the loop returned by [`get_running_loop()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/asyncio-eventloop.html#asyncio.get_running_loop "asyncio.get_running_loop"), [`RuntimeError`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/exceptions.html#RuntimeError "RuntimeError") is raised if there is no running loop in current thread.

Note

[`asyncio.TaskGroup.create_task()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/asyncio-task.html#asyncio.TaskGroup.create_task "asyncio.TaskGroup.create_task") is a newer alternative that allows for convenient waiting for a group of related tasks.

sys.platform```
This string contains a platform identifier that can be used to append platform-specific components to [`sys.path`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/sys.html#sys.path "sys.path"), for instance.

For Unix systems, except on Linux and AIX, this is the lowercased OS name as returned by `uname -s` with the first part of the version as returned by `uname -r` appended, e.g. `'sunos5'` or `'freebsd8'`, *at the time when Python was built*. Unless you want to test for a specific system version, it is therefore recommended to use the following idiom:

```py
if sys.platform.startswith('freebsd'):
    # FreeBSD-specific code here...
elif sys.platform.startswith('linux'):
    # Linux-specific code here...
elif sys.platform.startswith('aix'):
    # AIX-specific code here...
```...
#

os.name```
The name of the operating system dependent module imported. The following names have currently been registered: `'posix'`, `'nt'`, `'java'`.

See also

[`sys.platform`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/sys.html#sys.platform "sys.platform") has a finer granularity. [`os.uname()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/os.html#os.uname "os.uname") gives system-dependent version information.

The [`platform`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/platform.html#module-platform "platform: Retrieves as much platform identifying data as possible.") module provides detailed checks for the system’s identity.
#

os.uname()```
Returns information identifying the current operating system. The return value is an object with five attributes...
#

Source code: Lib/platform.py

Note

Specific platforms listed alphabetically, with Linux included in the Unix section.

os.fsync(fd)```
Force write of file with filedescriptor *fd* to disk. On Unix, this calls the native `fsync()` function; on Windows, the MS `_commit()` function.

If you’re starting with a buffered Python [file object](https://docs.python.org/3/glossary.html#term-file-object) *f*, first do `f.flush()`, and then do `os.fsync(f.fileno())`, to ensure that all internal buffers associated with *f* are written to disk.

!d list.sort

coarse hearthBOT
#

sort(*, key=None, reverse=False)```
This method sorts the list in place, using only `<` comparisons between items. Exceptions are not suppressed - if any comparison operations fail, the entire sort operation will fail (and the list will likely be left in a partially modified state).

[`sort()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/stdtypes.html#list.sort "list.sort") accepts two arguments that can only be passed by keyword ([keyword-only arguments](https://docs.python.org/3/glossary.html#keyword-only-parameter)):

*key* specifies a function of one argument that is used to extract a comparison key from each list element (for example, `key=str.lower`). The key corresponding to each item in the list is calculated once and then used for the entire sorting process. The default value of `None` means that list items are sorted directly without calculating a separate key value.

how i can get information from this json file?

delicate wren
# coarse hearth

for different fields you would require different key=lambda item: item["field"] things

coarse hearthBOT
#

json.load(fp, *, cls=None, object_hook=None, parse_float=None, parse_int=None, parse_constant=None, object_pairs_hook=None, **kw)```
Deserialize *fp* (a `.read()`-supporting [text file](https://docs.python.org/3/glossary.html#term-text-file) or [binary file](https://docs.python.org/3/glossary.html#term-binary-file) containing a JSON document) to a Python object using this [conversion table](https://docs.python.org/3/library/json.html#json-to-py-table).

*object\_hook* is an optional function that will be called with the result of any object literal decoded (a [`dict`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/stdtypes.html#dict "dict")). The return value of *object\_hook* will be used instead of the [`dict`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/stdtypes.html#dict "dict"). This feature can be used to implement custom decoders (e.g. [JSON-RPC](https://www.jsonrpc.org) class hinting).

*object\_pairs\_hook* is an optional function that will be called with the result of any object literal decoded with an ordered list of pairs. The return value of *object\_pairs\_hook* will be used instead of the [`dict`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/stdtypes.html#dict "dict"). This feature can be used to implement custom decoders. If *object\_hook* is also defined, the *object\_pairs\_hook* takes priority.
