It's worth noting btw that while Kotlin is the most portable language I know, it doesn't have the library backing of stuff like python
As much as I want to use Kotlin everywhere, Python is still much more viable for many things
And sure, Kotlin Native can use native libs, Kotlin for JS can use node libs
But none of them are adapted for Kotlin paradigms
Well, Python had A LOT of time to mature 🙂
It definitely has, yeah
If Kotlin won't go away, it will get library collection that rivals Java
Well, that depends
Kotlin is three separate ecosystems at the moment
It's actually quite well supported when it comes to java already
Native and JS aren't prod ready yet though, in theory
It is also possible to write libs and code that targets all three ecosystems, but it's not easy
Anyway, it's 1am, so I'd better head off
Sorry for the zealotry haha
It was an interesting read! Good night!
staff gradient?
the discord roles?
if that's the case the roles are missing green
Now i've got my 3d printer working again it's actually pretty useful to just have any object within an hour or two
Time to see how these guitar picks turn out
The roles are missing green you said?
if that's the case the roles are missing green
@rough sapphire
It's just referring to the gradient of red to yellow we use for staff roles, not a full color spectrum.

I feel like we get more and more of these lately haha https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2020/03/10/microsoft-windows-10-warning-crashes-boot-audio-slowdown-problems-upgrade-windows-10-free/
Shouldn't they have a beta group or something
They do
To stop this from happening every 6 months
From my experience the beta group is actually more stable than the release channel
was already disabled
Wrong channel?
Oops
blarggg
Windows 10 is just a pain
nah, it's fine.
Yeah, it's perfectly fine
Cortana blasting in your ear and a ton of trickery needed for play store was my experiance
Hint: you need to unplug ethernet and don't connect to wifi to not use store
play store?
never touched the store in my entire time of using Win 10
so idk what you're talking about
You can get translucentTB on the store
linux has to be installed from the store
Which is all I every got from there
All installs I have done have had me being annoyed at trying to get past the microsoft store stuff
the plex UWP app and anything from the xbox app comes from there
Oh yeah and wsl too
WSL is capable of handling a desktop now
wsl is fast
no need for a VM
yup
how do I get that
you still need to run an x-server though
I mean I don't want to but I want to try it
I think I have uninstalled more things from the store than I have installed from there
I prefer vms, if anything goes wrong with wsl everything's still good
you have to have an X server to support any X clients, which includes running a desktop or desktop apps via WSL or using stuff like X forwarding via SSH
a
booo
annnnd just realised i only have 6 SATA ports
out come two
adding 1.6tb of HDD and 256gb of SSD
Always hide yo crimes
i have lost track of which drive is which in the installer :|
anyone ever dual booted two win 10's?
i can't imagine the windows bootloader would conflict with itself.........
nvm i can imagine that
arrrrggghhhh, cortana.
i've done two different editions of win 10
worked fine, the windows bootloader was able to list both
cool
Did bisk changed his profile picture?
Diacord bug probably
Discord*
it's loading for me
huh? it should still be that golfball
Yeah, eye still see his normal one
w10 hibernation / sleep is a piece of shit
I agree
no, it's my day off
Your company doesn't compensate you for coming in on days off?
it's more that we're working from home now so i have to set up my PC for that
i shouldn't have gone to have lunch, it's wedged itself in a black screen behaviour
:|
hah. something happened during windows patching and now it doesn't handle my display port output on the gpu
i LOOVE windows updates
this is a fresh install, so i guess installing the AMD drivers will solve it
but it's weird that straight 1809 worked fine, then a reboot fecks it
I understand brand loyalty towards AMD - but loyalty to Intel just seems absurd to me
GPU? That's disgusting
this AMD FX-6300 was great when it first came out
plus overclocks like a champ and is cheap
this R9 380 was like £160 and still runs games at 60 - 100fps on high settings
so idk why you'd be so anti-AMD
I'm kind of okay with AMD cpus, but I love Nvidia products so much to just think about AMD GPUs
Why do you love Nvidia?
and why would you stop looking at competing products?
AMD's GPU's are incredible bang for buck
Nvidia seem pretty anti-consumer
a lot of their technology offerings are closed source
Gsync is just shit compared to freesync
in terms of their approach to the technology
plus they've been artificially restricting what you can do with their GPU's
They're products works great, they're ahead on the ray tracing tech
Ray tracing is one niche though
if you're using them to do things other than game graphics
which is still pretty shit even at the high end
plus it'll never be as important as shader processing
I mean, I do 3d, raytracing is really important to me
Most of the software that I use are optimized for Nvidia cards too
Sure for rendering. I meant for games where its still pretty irrelevant
Sure
yeah so is that nvidia's products being better
or nvidia courting software developers with free shit for market position?
I do think their products are better
Okay okay, I will take a look at some facts and see
It seems weird to love Nvidia products - they might be the best option for your usecase, but I think Nvidia do a lot of shitty stuff
Their cards looks better than AMD card imo
as in aesthetics ?
Nvidia or AMD have relatively little impact on what their end cards look like yeah
Why on earth would you buy it?
because it's got enough grunt to do 1080p gaming at high quality and fps
and it's only £130
what nvidia card provides similar performance for near that price point?
Oh yeah I got confused
the RX 590 is only £160
It clocks above a 1060 which is ~50 more expensive
XFX 570 confirmed. Thanks old emails!
it's hard to hate on AMD when they fill out an entire section of the market nvidia doesn't cater to
and quite often punch above their weight with cheaper cards
tbh AMD is a turnaround success story
How much better is the 590 vs 480?
my 5700xt has been pretty good
hmmm... how to hide my extra disk drives from work's spyware remote management agent
🤔
creepy piece of shit that it is. you're required to add your computer to the RMM to use parts of the RMM
Eat them
ok can we take a moment to talk about this

WTF is this
how this passed emoji examination
what is it?
it's this thing
it says nazar_amulet
translation from hindi
it is used as a good sign
what's wrong with it?
looks pretty accurate to me
for example
if i say you have a good baby
and then suddenly baby fells ill
to prevent that from happening
it is used
yeah, like a protection charm
yes that thing
so what's wrong with the emoji
but how can this pass the emoji examination without anyone saying WTF is this and is that important ?
also it sorta looks creepy
💈
also its unicode version don't work for many OS like arch for me
💸
sometimes, when you tap right between the emoji button and the send button (on mobile), discord just fucking dies
i have this often
on different phones
cuz discord
🖲️ why is THIS an emoji
it means the mcdonald's sign is drunk
just heard off a co-worker that a civil contractor doing a fibre install outside one of our customer's offices drilled through a 50mm armoured mains cable
and blew out power for a whole city block
OOF
atleast here electricity workers are good at there job
cuz if they don't do there job they will be so much spammed by people
it was a fibre contractor who drilled through the mains
but electricity people to fix it
yeah
probably only take the sparkies a few hours to fix it tbh
people without power get pretty fucking mad
especially when its 11 in night
tbh it's in a business area
so the fact it happened at 2pm was probably not pleasing
an extra tea break it is
more like 3 hours of lost business :D
I want to control my raspberry pi with the Google assistant app, basically I just want to say "lights on" and Google assistant needs to send a get-request to a specific URL in my local network (something like curl 192.168.0.205/on) and that's it. Does anyone know how to do this with Google assistant?
That sounds like its in the domain of Home Assistant which @sand goblet is quite big on
Hmm
Well, home assistant certainly supports google assistant, although unless you want to set it up manually it isn't free to use it for that
if you want to make Google Assistant do things like that, I think you need to make an integration, or maybe IFTTT does it
yeah, internet says IFTTT is the way to go
Tell them to piss off
Pun intended

altered carbon is good
I did 4eps of AC, and really wanted to like it but couldn't
3 episodes in and in only just realised the fuckin little clip that plays at the end of each episode is something you see in the next one
that sounds like a bad TV show
that's a poor amount of information to judge something off
basicly - the rootin tootin titties and violence part is fun. But the other 75% just makes no sense. Half the characters are just fucking annoying, and I feel like the world makes 0 sense
cryptic
and it's at the start of each episode, not at the end, isn't it?
it's definitely at the end for me
ah k
that just reminds me of that one Bad Lip Reading video
lines, lines, intersecting now with paint
i hate having to actively not skip credits
Yeah, same
yet intro credits are opt out
my mom like
gets up and leaves the room and has a cigarette if there are credits
she hates them that much
like 80% of the time I even want to skip credits - but the times when I don't it drives me insane to have to scramble to stop it skipping them
yeah
like sometimes they'll use thematic music in the credits
or / and you sorta want to decompress
maybe even see if it really was that dude from that one show you can't quite put your finger on back in the 90s
I dunno - practically every single episode I watch of something I end up googling the cast
I most have forgotten Joel Kinnaman's name and regoogled it like 30 times
there was one woman in altered carbon S2 that i'm preeettty sure was in a Stargate at some point
S2 is much much less nudity, btw. i feel like that was a Mackie effect. still good, but Joel Kinnaman pulled pulled off the sarcasm much better.
he did
Joel Kinnaman was the best part of what I watched - I thought he was pretty good
i just saw that the anime (prequel?) comes out on the 19th too. will at least give the first episode a roll...
interesting
If you like the stack concept and reading - then I think Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom deals with very similar tech in a much more interesting way
i really want to read the AC books. but that requires time. balance is short these days. 😄
I think I'm gonna read the book to see if I prefer that. Based on the blurb, it seems I might (although I'm pretty certain its gonna ~200pg be longer than it should be)

anything in disk management? though i assume you haven't installed any new hard drives recently
could it be a USB drive that got adde to your quickbar somehow?
it looks like ? means a shortcut that points to an invalid drive https://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/206876-blue-desktop-icon-backup-external-hard-drive.html
@rough sapphire You've been hit by, you've been struck by, a random bug!
@sinful copper i'd assume i could remove shortcuts though
what does it do when you try to remove it?
it says it's on my desktop, but actually navigating to my desktop folder - nothing there
there is literally no "remove" option
hmm maybe it'll work if you assign a drive to letter E? plug in a USB?
In the background of BBC news there's just some family taking photos in front of no.10 which for some reason I find hilarious
it doesn't seem that way at all and thats just a dumb thing to say
why
that's a young adviser
hah
which I found hilarious - some guy going on about the danger of the coronavirus whilst a couple of kids take smiling photos in the background
Does Downing Street have free access? I assume there must be some bars on whether you are allowed access or not.
I don't actually know, but given that some kid in a school uniform was taking photos there, I'd assume there's relatively free access
Public access was curtailed by relying on common law powers to prevent breach of the peace[18][19][20] (although its legality has been questioned by a correspondent for New Statesman magazine).[21] In 2005, Westminster City Council used anti-terrorism powers contained in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 to formalise the restrictions by means of a traffic management order.[21] This by implication results in Downing Street being inaccessible to the general public as admittance is only granted by the Police to scheduled visitors, Parliamentary pass holders and members of the accredited press.
so no, but they're trying
What counts as accredited press
Probably people OKd by civil servants in downing street
In part, it's because of the sheer number of cases
There was a video interview with a doctor working in the North of Italy who indicated that hospitals were overwhelmed and they had to apply war-like triage
They also have a relatively old population
This article tries to explain it as well: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-deaths-from-coronavirus-are-so-high-in-italy/
wonder how hard it'd be to turn this pyportal into a coronavirus overview
I realise that json probably isn't a great idea for it, but I'm more concerned about displaying things.. hmm..
oh god the usb cable ruined one of my ports
great
yep all ports on that hub are screwed
good thing I have so many spares
adafruit's site is crashing my browser too
this is just not meant to be, haha
Boys and girls dont know if this is the right channel to ask this but... I am looking to buy a monitor 24/27' that goes easy on the eyes, mainly gonna be used for coding and a little gaming. Any suggestions?
Perfect channel for that question, yeah
(I don't have any suggestions though, just letting you know it's the right place to ask)
haha 😄
Whatever's cheapish. IPS panel if you can get it
If money isn't a constraint, I'd REALLY reccomend a ultrawide monitor
I much prefer one ultrawide to two 1080p
I am looking for 1080p, bought one 27' acer nitro but my eyes get so tired after 3-4 hours
really?
i had much cheaper monitor before that and i didnt had any problems gaming for 20 hrs 😄
That shouldn't happen
yeah idk 😄
Have you tried playing with brightness and other settings?
Possibly a blue light filter
yup
Thats pretty weird. In that case, I'd definitely be looking to see the monitor before buying it if I were you
its possible that you might prefer a VA panel or something
oh so i picked the right time to look for monitor 😄
will get monitor + corona in the same time 😄
circuitpython vs code extension doesn't work on windows
noice
man these things are supposed to be for beginners
why are there so many barriers to entry
Haven't tried circuit python yet but I want to
I'm having a hard time finding tooling
I eventually figured out the example was outdated and used CPy 4 indtead of CPy 5
And then I dug around and found this thing called circup which could update the libs for me
But I can't find anything that will give me autocomplete yet
Also I somehow wrecked 4 USB ports on one of my monitors with a micro USB cable
So that was fun
Surprised VS code didn't work for you for autocomplete
What are you trying to do with micropython?
I was trying to make a little coronavirus dashboard on a pyportal
The Circuit python plugin for VS Code is developed and tested only on a mac and I just got errors on windows haha
nice
I'm sure it'll be great once I get everything set up
Most people have only praise for it and I believe them
Feels like it could be easier though
I am totally about to order some boards
I'm looking forward to getting this working, to be honest
Boris Johnson warns 'many families will lose loved ones'
@sand goblet well... I started watching micropython videos... it looks like the rest of my afternoon is shot. Nothing else is getting done

@bronze root What kind of token?
I don't think you can inject js into discord
ctrl+shift+i and you get a console no?
@undone berry I mean with a bot
oh yeah - no thats not at all possible
probably I should read context

@rough sapphire random character strings, nothing too important nor private
@bronze root What's the background of this? Just a random question or is there more to this?
just random, thought that it'd be neat @rough sapphire
Well, if you click a link, it'll open your browser 😄
Guess it can't be helped then x3

They'd know, it's pretty obvious you're high up

Also not all blind people have no vision

Jaden Smith truly is an enigma
work days seem to go a bit quicker working from home
i approve of this
perhaps it's the fact i rolled out of bet at 8:15, made a coffee and sat down to work at 8:30.
rather than having to get up at 7:30
I think I'd hate working from home
it actually feels a bit more productive
normally when we're all in the office there's too much banter and fucking around
seems if you isolate people and connect them through slack they're more productive
🤔
there's also much more of a paper trail for actions etc
I wonder if that will hold true in a week or twos time
rather than someone saying they're going to do the thing or whatever
perhaps it's the fact everyone's taking cheeky wank breaks
I can only imagine the paper trail improves things
as long as stuff like cheeky wank breaks doesn't enter the paper trail
In my experience, there's pros and cons with wfh in terms of productivity. If I have clearly laid-out tasks that I can do mostly on my own, working from home is better, because people are less likely to bother me. But if I have a task that's not well-defined and requires a lot of back-and-forth with coworkers to work out, it can be worse, since it can be harder to get ahold of people.
And I'd say that both scenarios are fairly common.
yeah
most of my time at work is usually stuff i know wtf i'm doing
but being more technically experienced than the other support stuff i'm often offering help to them when i can hear them struggling
in the wfh scenario they kind of have to pipe up in chat
I usually get a stream of questions throughout the workday, but some people seem less inclined to do it over Slack, so there's just fewer when I'm not in the office
Or they forget I'm working, maybe
i get distracted regardless of location ¬_¬
i keep using "that would be great" in tickets and i always feel like uhh

did win7's "classic" theme really have that gradient in the title bar?
i recall it not having it but maybe i'm misremembering
I think it did, but it's been years...
That is Windows XP with Classic Theme
it's not.
Windows 7 didn't have that gradient.
yeah
win 7 in classic did have the gradient btw
oh
Maybe I had changed the settings before
It's been ages since I had last seen Windows 7
i only installed Win 10 this week ¬_¬
harassing customers to upgrade and my home PC was win 7

Which has already been patched
Pff, microsoft
Also if the argument is that only Microsoft screws up updates then that's just factually incorrect
It shouldn't matter what the rest of the people here use. Don't like it, don't use it. But don't try to ruin everyone else's time just because you personally don't like it
I have a way better experience on linux than on windows, and I can’t come back to win now, but I’d never advice my mom for instance to use linux
I don’t think she’ll be able to compile from source spotify just to listen ti music
You shouldn't have to compile Spotify from source, though.
It's just a download, but it's also not in most package managers, which defeats the point of them.
spotify doesn't actually support linux
if you're using spotify on linux, you're using an ancient version that's had the stuff from newer versions backported to it by the community
in a more up to date electron-like container
it's functionally the same, but it's not official
Are you sure? https://www.spotify.com/us/download/linux/
@sand goblet i'm not sure why you're implying that?
spotify keeps their snap app up to date with the current features
was last updated like last month i think
The snap broke after 2 days
_Why would you be damned for a mahjong emoji? _
He wants to go to china lately
It's just a turn of phrase
Kind of a saying of surprise
I've been learning how to play Japanese Mahjong lately (due to the Yakuza series of games)
(Nice to know)
I played mahjong when I was younger on the DS in a puzzle set game
The 8 years old me never understood how it worked haha
I'm talking about the 4 people playing against each other
It's kind of like Rummy if you're familiar with that card game
Yeah that's Mahjong Solitare
In simple terms, you've got 4 people taking and discarding tiles in order to make a winning hand
Depending on the type of hand, how you made it, whether you revealed any of your triples or melds, determine the number of points you get from winning that round
Well hey, if they added Linux support suddenly over the last year then I didn't hear about it
It's really really interesting, and there's a lot of strategy that goes into it
Hmm it sounds interesting
Well, okay, interesting to me at least
they've been supporting linux since like forever i think?
snap support is pretty new
it used to be custom debian repos iirc
Their snap sucks, at least on manjaro
I mean, it might suck but it exists
snap works fine for me
also snaps are supposed to be distro agnostic
that's the whole point of them
well, yeah
snaps in general, yes, they suck
but the spotify snap in particular hasn't caused too many issues for me (out of the norm for snaps, anyways)
The app randomly broke after two days
I like how we have snaps, flatpak and appimage and none of them quite work right
Not being able to find a module
You'd think they'd work together to solve the common problem, but
It is the Linux main issue
there are too many issues that come with what their common design is
I mean snaps are just "statically compile all the things" aren't they?
Too many ways to do things, too many distro, just too many
Snaps are just files to put in a specific location
Yeah
basically, yes
there's more "gusto" to it, like sandboxing and stuff
but most of the sandoboxing i've seen has been pretty worthless and easy to bypass
Well, you're the expert on that here for sure
Read that as "sanddoxing" for some reason
i haven't properly tested it or anything, it has been relatively low effort to discover that the sandboxing that they (at least snap) utilise has been sort of in vain
i'm going to say that a large majority, maybe around 90%, of the "sandboxed" snap apps still allow rw access to the user's home directory
like i don't even have to start explaining why that's bad
Yup
then you have "device" sandboxing, which is basically denying access to stuff in /dev that the snap doesn't need access to
except, oops, it works on a blacklist basis
using a driver which uses unconventional /dev paths? the snap app can probably access it
I don't see snap or similar tools as security mechanisms
A whitelist would make way more sense to me
That just doesn't make sense to me
i think their reasoning was something like "if we don't know what this device is, we can't implement reasonable access to it within a permission"
Either way you're introducing something to your machine and network which originates from outside of it
You should take the same precautions you do with everything else
pretty much this, yeah.
Haha
more than anti virus xD
for stuff i really want sandboxed i run it as a different user
Lol
That's peak security
@rough sapphire and just like that, i determine you're english.
safe
i think he means your use of peak
No I think it was a joke about UK security protocols
Imagine roasting a 16 year old
yeah, no, i've never heard anyone use "peak" as an adjective before
before I came to england
It's common enough
it's common in the UK at least

Certainly more of a Brit thing though, yeah
Is that part of the pantomimes?
yep
you "standard" them
safe mate
also how did nobody explain this to me in the three years i was there
also i fucking "safe"-d loads and nobody ever standard'd me back
not that i can recall anyways
when i helped a quake friend move here from france shit like this was like... what our lessons were about
sort out good cv?
check
has watched iconic british comedy?
check

check
sorted.
oh FUCK
Cheers
i need to sort out my CV before next month
for some government contract thing
i've never written a CV before and i'm sorta scared
There are plenty of guides online
try to keep it to 1 page
One page for a CV, more for a resume
they essentially aren't
thats literally the only difference
and not even a strict difference
Huh
the biggest mistake in CV's is that
no one wants to turn the page to read about other shit
you're going in the bin
"To see a cool picture I drew of a dinosaur, turn over"
if you do have a 2 page CV the page 2 should be like, random bullshit that's not that important
if your CV can't hold its own with 1 page
you shouldn't make a page 2
I'd just like to say - I'm great at making CVs
mine have been good in the past
but i haven't done one in 3 years
doing a graphic design course as part of my media / music at college came in great help
well, Mary, our sweet, sweet PR person sent me one of my colleague's CVs and told me to just replace whatever he had in there with whatever applies for me
I can get the right mix of bulshitting and sincerity
but damn, that shit just intimidated me even more
layout can make shit or break shit
he has so many things on there
i've got nothing to put in place of it
also, i'm not exactly trying to impress anyone
i think it's just legally required for government contracts
interesting
notepad and dash list
boom, done
government can eat a dick
EAT THE RICH
@rough sapphire if you have access to a university, you might be able to talk to a like guidance counselor or whatever they're called to help you proof it
^
I'm sure you have similar things
does it? i'm not ever sure what to put on there
it totally does
should I list my CVEs on it? it seems petty
it's a note worthy achievement
Yeah, that goes on there. Winning pretty much anything goes on there
Completely verifiable excellences?
"Historically as a security enthusiast I have discovered multiple vulnerabilities in a range of softwares."
that sort of bollocks
@undone berry basically just vulns attributed to me
Use bullet points everywhere, start every bullet with a verb
yeah, that's CV worthy i think
at least you're not having to figure out how to make "dude who carried stuff around a warehouse" sound impressive
"Warehouse Operative"
smh my head
It is, but it doesn't sound good on a CV
Bring extra bullets if you need spares
at the time i couldn't just leave it out either
as it'd leave a massive 6 month hole in my CV
all of the noteworthy shit i've done has either been either criminal or
well
unethical at best
not exactly the things you'd list on a CV
well don't list CRIMES
Depends
that'd be dumb
Do mafias take CVs?
would you be surprised to hear "yes"?
In this day and age, not really
pretty sure i could've got a position in sales management if i put my illegal stuff in there
<_<
"oh wow.. that's a big client list... what did you say you did again?"
"I handled various high value flora"
"Had to deal with a problematic client base, prone to disagreements."
"Ask your mother"
hah
"Senior position in community driven pharmacy"
"Comprehensive understanding of supply and demand."
the kneecap bone
patella
Right
thanks, i've got two
Honestly I just couldn't remember
Figured the easiest way to get the answer was to frame it as a quiz
i was friends with a biology student at one point and she had a habit of memorising bone names on me
weird.
"Was that inten- yeeaaaah it was"
hah, the late show with colbert's gone weird
since they have no audience
just freeballed it during rehersal and put that on air
Did they blur it out or...
hah
it's a weird scenario
late night show with no loud audience
it feels somewhat more tolerable
this whole "let's return to the 60's" feels kinda good
the not so much light pollution etc
there's less commercialism I guess since businesses are closed
the bare essentials are there though
don't use it then
toilet paper is not a "bare essential" if you learn to wash your ass with water. pro tip.
the problem comes though if you're somewhere outside and then they don't have paper
though the washing your poophole with water and hands is not a bad idea. serious.
well there are bidets all across europe
Oh you mean those water fountains they have in the bathrooms
those yeah
Delish
that stuff came kinda naturally after i had to go running at the doctors where they kept shoving stuff up my anus
turns out you don't mind sticking your own hands down there after a while
Fair enough. Think we should probably steer this back towards less butt involved talk
this is like the best talk ever. saved me from a lot.
Uh... huh
Advertising is weird
"Let's talk about lamb, for a minute."
-- Totally normal wife to her totally normal family in a totally normal kitchen
:D
Advertising is indeed weird.
"Hey, what was the number for that plumber we recently had? I wanted to call and thank them."
"Why, are you talking about JOHN SMITH'S PLUMBING LOCATED AT 777 AWESOME AVE. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS 86753?
THEIR NUMBER IS 555-867-5309 AND THEY DO ALL SORTS OF WORK THAT WE STILL NEED DONE!""Thanks! I'll call them right away!"
0118 999 881 999 119 725 3
Hah
Yeah but it's 1-ply
Beats the three seashells
three seashells definitely beats any-ply TP if you know how to use it
Al Boum Photo won the Cheltenham Gold Cup and I'm so mad at that name
Ha, there's a reference I haven't seen in a while
click on arrows
Most IDEs use some combination of CTRL, SHIFT, and +/- for code folding
!resources has lots of links. Automate the Boring Stuff is the most commonly reccomended, and the MIT introduction to Computer Science is my reccomendation if you like the idea of lectures
The Resources page on our website contains a list of hand-selected learning resources that we regularly recommend to both beginners and experts.
Thx
I was doing that pipenv clone a bit ago and got annoyed at it
But this time i've tried it again and it looks like it will work well
265 lines just for a cli and parsing the toml file into a lock file db and vice versa
That's what I thought.
Oh yeah now I got it, you declare the variables as globals at the START of the function.
Why is it zoomed in to that degree
W h a t...
Why is is so zoomed in
I think you can zoom back with scrolling back while holding CTRL or CTRL with -, I assume that from Chrome.
Lmfao
It may be also that your browser has emulation on (In this case it may be Mobile emulation).
nah i think its reasonable
interesting, youtube made me watch a 1h video about this guy, days ago
(i don't watch a lot of smash, and only watched melee stuff a couple time)
there will never be another melee player like hungry box (or something similar) i bet
yes
that was a well written video, i don't normally care enough about that subject to watch 1h videos, even good ones.
well, at least the hook about the crab was effective
was a bit sad there was no conclusion to this particular story
yes
by content creators
they use every tool at their disposal to prevent me from stopping watching it
and some of them are really talented and smart
i'm no match
i opened youtube after a week earlier today, and opened most of the videos unwatched in my feed in a tab, to watch later
not all of them, but a good 20 of them i think
off getting that done i guess
3b1b has a nice one on exponentials, sigmoids and stuff, about the coronavirus, it's really good
Oh, i guess i mixed up with vi hart's :x
hello everyone
does anyone know html / can point me to a discord or something?
having massive trouble with a language that runs with no errors 😦
does or did anyone here go to the TU delft university in Netherlands?
need some advice here
who can explain it better what a Colloquium Doctum is ?
@broken charm You might want to look at Disboard, you can basically find Discord servers for every your need, there are alot of good web development servers, might wanna check em' out if you need help!
cuz i want to study computer science at that universtity
yeah it is
Imagine if visitengland done that
Everyone would either joke about it or get very very serious about a whole swear word
yeah, we're really not that prude
if visit england did that i'm pretty sure twitter racists would be all over it
but such is life
Thanks @Ralfs!
man fuck bacon
that's how they get the salt in
it was not bacon but there wasn't the correct emoji 🤔
I see the US is at it again
Imagine an Internet where the law required every message sent to be read by government-approved scanning software. Companies that handle such messages wouldn’t be allowed to securely encrypt them, or they’d lose legal protections that allow them to operate.Take ActionStop the ...
It would create a 19-person commission that’s completely controlled by the Attorney General and law enforcement agencies.
that's not good
bill barr is a trump shill and this appears to give him total control
Time to get arrested for accidently making something secure
this ship has sailed, but they are very much trying to bring it back to the port
that's the problem with legislation written by the technically illiterate and power hungry
it's quite a funny idea to have an empty shell voted into law, and to then be able to put about anything in that vehicle and have it have the force of law
Wasn't there something about a law meant for knife-crime in london where if anyone looks suspicious police can search
Was a couple years ago now, forgot the law
i mean that's the case whatever
if the police think you look shifty they can stop and search you
they just have to note down the reason they thought you looked shift
🏏
by the end of this quarantine i'm either gonna be eating pure chocolate
or i'll have developed the most healthy eating habits i can
given that food delivery joints seem to have largely closed down.
java makes me sick :d
just out of curiousity?ppl who go to MIT are all smart at next level??
prestige has nothing to do with intelligence
I would argue that for some people, going to MIT is a bad idea
given they own your project work
ohhh but isnt it really hard to get into MIT
iunno, I was offered a scholarship and I'm a fuckin' idiot
it was probably because of my idea rather than anything else
we had this thing we had to do for transition year known as young entrepreneur
thats actually freaking cool
it's not
y??
the tl;dr is that my idea was a software project designed to help people with cerebral palsy to get their exercises in without painful stretch therapy
if I had gone to MIT and produced that project there, they would have owned it
ye fair enough.
but did u actually work on that project?
No, it's completely outside my expertise
I was kind of demotivated by the whole thing anyway when the person that won the competition had a project that was "kneepads for toddlers"
but, she was a girl, so
It was just something that was passed down to me from people working with the YE team
they wanted a girl to win
there were only like 2-3 girls out of our group of 15-16
ahh i c.
pretty sure that's where my disillusion in identity politics stems from, haha
as long as u dont regret it
Anyway, someday I may yet end up attempting it
but I don't have the skillset
I mean, yeah, I regret it
it was a complete waste of time
I mean, the competition as a whole, not turning down the scholarship
ohhhhh
I don't regret turning it down haha
someone might already do it tho before u try to attempt it
and I mean come on, how could anyone expect me to cope
i mean like u would learn some valuable stuff from it but still u gotta do what u want .
It wasn't the right place for me to be
