Is programming until 4 am then sleeping 6 hours and doing the same thing again for three days during holidays a bad thing to do to your body and health if you want to get someting done?
@tired osprey your German it's perfectly acceptable
As I speak german as a native language that is very likely yes
I'd be more worried if you retired at 60 and had a massive pension. means you might be contracting the Greek economy
CS is getting intresting in school now, doing basics of SQL Injection
Just basics of SQL and injection is good

if i get to a german wiki page i get a note that they shut down for today as a protest against article 13 and friends
Only EU wikis?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME GERMAN WIKIPEDIA
i mean the protests against article 13 are by far the most in germany but still
you know what to do on Saturday now
Seems like a bad idea. The article I mean.
Can't hate them for protesting in a peaceful manner I guess
lots of people will
But it is the case that most people don't understand article 13 or what it does and doesn't cover
It is too broad but the idiots going on about memes being illegal clearly don't give enough of a shit to actually understand what's going on :P
fun fact they even say in that message that they arent part of article 13s scope
so they are actually not protesting for themselves but for the "free information"
Of course it will, they still want to do business in Europe
anyone know why i have no kits?
you probably have no kits
i can give you a hand @vestal briar
(More just complaining about learning it but thats for the opportunity thingy :) )
no
Ummmm
i think im having a stroke or something
i keep seeing a flashing light in the corner of my eye but then when i look over its not there and theres nothing causing it
i think its gone now
that was weird
istg i feel like im going insane
probably BP
i dont get it tested often but ive heard mine is abnormal
cant remember it was high or low
just remember my mom has it too
i dont have insurance for eye stuff and its not worth going to get a check up over a glimmer in the corner of my eye
that glimmer could be your retina separating from your eye

Anyone wanna help me find a KVM switch? I have a keyboard + mouse on USB 2.0 and a monitor that plugs in via HDMI. Needs to split into a desktop with appropriate inputs , but my laptop only has USB-C ports and 2x mini displayports
do you need a hardware kvm?
thinking about synergy
for your laptop you should convert usbc to usb and mini DP to hdmi maybe?
Will an adapter like this https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Mini-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt-Adapter/dp/B00NH13K8S + and a hardware kvm like thsi work
gov't laptop so has to be hardware based KVM ๐ฆ
I have used that kind of a dongle for kvms in the past
as much as I wanna use synergy I'm not sure its okay to use
minidp -> hdmi -> kvm should be no problem as long as it is a hdmi kvm
might be business related rules
i cannot install synergy on my main server
so i use RDP and kvm for physical on site work
synergy kinda sucks anyway
mwb is better if it's between two windows machines
more reliable.
Because the government is kinda picky about what software can/can't be used on machines that store classified information
sure. okay
yeah. same with me ๐
healthcare is a pain
IT infrastructure that is
not healthcare, that is awasome ๐
I'm one of the few people who doesn't work for the government I guess.
i work for a private company, but 90% of all work is B2B with the government
their api is from 1992... not sure you can call it an API though
So eivl that setup should work hardware wise? like using a switch with USB 2.0 ports in a USB-C port works with like a USB 2.0 -> USB-C cable?
yes
Oh lit thats perfect
im about to have dongle city going on, on my desk but ill be free of my touchpad
how do you guys sleep
ive been having trouble sleeping a lot lately and recently its gotten worse as im sleeping even shorter hours
i dont take naps either because i have insomnia
im looking into getting sleep pills n stuff but thats not something thats going to happen soon
what do i do in the meantime
lie around and wait until you get tired enough I guess
I mean, if you have insomnia, then it's going to be hard for most people to give you relevant advice
You should talk to a specialist
ASMR could act like some therapy
i will try and do that but money is tight right now and its too late to call one up
and i try to lie down but it takes atleast a few hours
unless im really really tired then it takes 30 mins-hour
usually ill learn python until i get tired and fall asleep but lack of sleep has made it harder to do
ive kinda just stopped learning all together because i dont have the brain capacity to do it anymore
i usually am listening or watching something while trying the sleep so that could be the problem but i have even more trouble without it
I finally feel less stupid. Feelsgood to find the mistake that you looked for two days
@river anvil very very likely actually, my mother almost lost her eye at a very young age because of it
not gonna take the WebMD route and assume the worst out of a mundane situation
my mom worked for an optometrist
it's not a WebMD route
and you won't find it mundane once you lose an eye
i think you're over reacting, it was a one time thing, probably just a very small short epileptic episode.
they're very common, im not sure the exact name but it's something like that
iirc that's what causes deja vu
separation of the retina
it was a small glimmer in the corner of my eye for 30 seconds calm down
@river anvil are you american?
My mindset is quite weird for programming
I love doing it as a hobby but using more "corprate" techniques and preparing myself for work
Kinda like approching it like I am training for a big work task that's coming up that I don't know anything about but as a hobby
yes
@vestal briar i feel the exact same way actually.
๐
that'll get you places
i finished the office tonight
was pretty good
ending felt somewhat satisfying
it wasnt too funny and a lot of people seemed out of character because the writers wanted a happy ending
by the former i dont mean it was unfunny
just was meant to be more emotional than funny
if everything in my program is going to be in memory, and i dont use enough memory to require swap space, using an hdd over an ssd on my server should have no performance impact right?
well that depends on what your program does in the background if you for example got an application running which you access which writes and reads from the hard drive it might, also the fact that your program doesnt consume enough does not mean other programs on the server dont consume enough to force your program into swap
it doesnt use the hard drive at all
and its the only thing running on the vm (apart from the os)
well then yes it should not really make a difference apart from maybe a few milli secs or less of startup time
ok awesome ๐
Hmm how to add auto-api things to bot
Every x minutes it sends data from async function to api
And on bot restart it has to resume
wym it has to resume?

no, just loli police
according to this vid swat = loli police
nice point :naruhodo:
you're gonna trip our maximum_lolis_per_user filter soon the way you're going.
I believe the rate limit is set at 6 lolis per 365 days.
oh shit I just used two of my own
better not say it again until 2020

in other news, I drew a boat.
Glorious
that looks so cool
I wanna make a bot, which can draw a nice tree, because when i invite a bot, discord might say, it cannot draw a nice tree for me
soon he's gonna be sleepin with the fiskies. for a fisking trip.
lol it is?
how'd you find that picture of me??
amazing indeed
maybe because the hook is blunt as fuck
just noticed, the boat says Python Discord on it
you think this is a pic of a kid playing with a fish but perhaps.. it is the fish playing with the kid o.O
doot doot! here comes the pybus express!
can confirm, am fish
so fisk is fish, juanita is alpaca, lemon is lemon, what's @bleak lintel?
i'm a gamer
yeah you're always playing forknife.
i haven't played fortnite since christmas ty

Woah ubuntu looks nice nowadays
I'm used to the whole unity thing
you clearly have bad taste
I'm on 18.10 now
Unity was the pinnacle of desktops
I'm xubuntu 18.04 with servers on ubuntu server 18.04
I AM not use ubuntu or anothers i don't know what is this?
it's a linux distro
I'm not gonna say it
You understood that?
mostly use 16.04 for automation
18.04 because its the newest LTS
@sand goblet
I'll switch in 2020
need python 2.7 by default
hmm like kali okey
๐ง ๐น ๐ผ
where's your sense of adventure?
knows Kali but not Ubuntu? ๐
i don't use kali befoore LOL
Used elementary for half a month and lubuntu for a week
I think the first distro I used was mandriva back in the day
Linux mint aswell messing on my dads
lubuntu was one of my first distros. I couldn't get it to look acceptable.
i had a vanilla debian
Mandriva has been dead since 2011
not my best experience
xD
19.04 is a massive ui impovement but just not mature enough
more like manstoppa now then
what's the tl;dr on 19.04's ui improvements
at google we switched from custom ubuntu to custom debian
19.04 uses gnome 3 with a custom theme I think
the UI improvements are gnome's rather than ubuntu's
Thanks to all the hard work from our contributors, Lubuntu 18.10 has been released! With the codename Cosmic Cuttlefish, Lubuntu 18.10 is the 15th release of Lubuntu and the first release of Lubuntu with LXQt as the default desktop environment, with support until July of 2019.
ty
that is 18.10
Because linux
it's probably the most user friendly way to get started with linux
then again it is also the only distro i've ever really used so my opinion doesnt count ๐
i managed to get xfce to look good
I dislike ubuntu and its derivatives due to their debian base
(imo)
the problem with "user friendly" is that it depends what you're doing
i know linux but ubuntu ?
if you're talking package management - especially installing things outside of the official repos - ubuntu is far from user-friendly
my desktop:
Manjaro KDE is love, Manjaro KDE is live.
Woah thats nice @tulip palm
I'm not gonna use anything other than xubuntu for the foreseeable future though
Oh christ
what are all those number channels o.O
Emoji servers
Emote sets
yeah, emoji servers
Google blob emoji by the looks of it.
ohhh i see
discord needs a better way to add those then
if joining a server is the only way
The ballad of my accidental bug that destroyd like 10 tests:
hm
On master?
so I am on KDE plasma like grote is
Why would you do that before running the tests
i think you don't need install ubuntu
I just forget to make a dev branch
waste of time
I agree with the above wholeheartedly
yeah, install arch instead
make it so only pull requests can put stuff on master.
:P
No, thats too easy you simpleton
:p
That's harmful advice for a new user imo
๐
Make a new os in machine code whilst creating a custom CPU
I wouldn't think so actually
Arch isn't hard to install, you just need to be able to read
what it is , is time-consuming for a beginner
Read as in become immortal to finish reading
My mother couldnt use arch
Therefore not beginner friendly
am i doing it right ๐
Your mother probably couldn't use any linux distro
The average user wants their stuff to just work upon installing ๐
Ubuntu and Xubuntu are suprisingly easy to get used to
xD
you just have to get through initial setup
She uses cross platform stuff anyway
which is why manjaro and antergos exist really
Thunderbird, libre, firefox
Arch requires you to get a lot of things seperatly after installing
Don't use antergos btw, I've had that break on updates a few times.
Arch basically allows you to customise an entire pc
I know a lot of people that use antergos without issue
That's not entirely true
It allows you to do that at the package level
But not at the kernel level
Not entirely
i need to go guys work work work
No too long ago the nvidia drivers wanted kernel 5.0, but Other packages held the kernel upgrade back.
Most people won't be using the kernal day to day
SEE YOU LATER
Ok the
Result: nvidia driver crashed on load
Rip
Oh, nice
So I did what any great linux user would do.
installed manjaro?
I waited for a day untill my filesysystem drivers were compatible with 5.0
and then upgraded from another tty
upgrading from another TTY is actually super important if you use gnome
which is, well, a problem if you're on vanilla ubuntu
If you're updating packages within gnome and gdm has an update, gnome will crash and you'll be left with a broken upgrade
never happened to me
happened to me numerous times
๐
This was the nvidia driver in antergos repos, I got a version magic error that it wanted kernel 5.0 while I was still on 4.20
I was using an X session with the proprietary nvidia drivers, which might have had something to do with it
either way, it's not good
the systemd and gnome team both say you need to do upgrades in another tty
ubuntu solves this by never upgrading systemd in a normal package update
which is pretty amusing
you need to do a dist-upgrade or explicitly upgrade the held back packages
i think fedora prevents it with never upgrading gnome with the exception being between releases
but it does do systemd all the time
systemd upgrades have actually never taken my system down
Systemd PPA
Not sure if it exists, wouldn't use it.
what i have been wondering for some time
why is there no PPA with python 3.6 and 7 for pis
Copying PPA commands is often the easiest method for getting updated programs.
like people always compile those by hand on pis
Because a lot of it is for some reason outdated
copying PPA commands is often the easiest method for getting stuck in dependency hell, though
which is my big complaint about debian in general
It's frustrating to encounter a bug, then see that the issue was closed 1.5 years ago, but the ubuntu repo's have an older version
the problem occurs when a PPA has an updated version of some package dependency
under fedora youll find almost anything you want inside either the default repos, rpmfusion or flatpak
which happens more often than you'd think
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
so you install a package from a PPA and it pulls in the updated version of the dep
then you go to do a package upgrade and you find that a bunch of packages won't install because they can't resolve the version they want
Fedora's rolling release version is supposedly decently up to date.
i use normal releases though
however i got tons of rawhide chroots for package development i should probably clean up some day
debian tries to do the whole versioned packages thing but it's honestly probably the worst system for it
the best? gentoo
Second only to pen and paper
because gentoo is able to handle having multiple versions of any one package installed at the same time
I haven't seen another distro that can do that
i had one issue with packages on fedora where yum which was depreceated a version ago but not uninstalled during the upgrade still wanted to keep a few files which the new dnf upgrade wanted to change
but apart from that it always just works โข for me
fedora more or less works
but fedora is rpm-based, so
no debian there
it does suffer from some of the same problems, but rpm maintainers tend to be a lot more professional
there were some dicussion on dpkg in fedora in the dev mailing list
so i tend to be a lot more professional aha
I mean you've gotta remember
ubuntu is touted as the beginner linux distro
it has a huge community of people that, basically, don't know what they're doing
yeah true
one of the bigger debian devs recently left debian because the infrastructure is too old and package dev in general sucks
the funny thing about arch
so thats saying something
despite it being fairly user-unfriendly to install
the package management is probably some of the friendliest out there
you generally don't have to worry about package versioning because all you have is the latest
yeah but sometimes something does not want the latest
i do like pacman a lot
there's no concept of distribution releases either, so there's no breaking your install because dist-upgrade doesn't work
the only thing ive found to be fucking awful when doing packaging for fedora is rust
because rust packages all pin their versions and if you package a gui application youd have to bundle 10 different versions at a time basically because all the sub deps rely on other versions
and there is only one fedora version at a time
and interestingly, appimage integrates nicely on arch with the right packages
I literally only use it for one thing
p3x onenote
like for example lazy_static is so damn widespread and basically everyone uses a different version
but I have an easy double-click install, and I can right-click it in my application menu to uninstall it
like, there's an option in the right-click menu
that's the kind of thing that windows-centric users want
Octopi is a nice piece of software
you mean the OS?
or the raspberry pi distro?
or octoprint?
or the octopi software company?
The pacman frontend
It's what ships with manjaro
packagekit-qt5 is the package you need for Discovery to work with pacman
I'll check it out
looks like synaptic from back in the day
Yes, the aur toggle button is a bit hard to find at first though.
Not intuitive at all, kind of bad design imo
well, Discovery doesn't support the aur, so you have that at least
It's the ๐ฝ

I feel like python is making me spoiled and lazy
Feel unmotivated now when I had to go back to java to do some stuff
after using only python for a while
Maybe you just like python more?
Then learn something that has less overlap with python
Because comparing java and python, the things that they can acomplish are very similar
nah its for an android app my team is working on
Yeah :/
anyways, python is so much simpler
iirc kivy can make android apps
I mean you could use kivy
(kivy uses python)
But I don't like kivy

The full studio version of Skycycle's 'It's Terror Time Again' as heard in the film, Scooby Doo on Zombie Island.
oh man, lol, I forgot about this
man, that's a nostalgia trip
@gaunt root Small excerpt that represents how maths works in the current education system
Of course, not many students actually go on to concentrate in music, so only a few will
ever get to hear the sounds that the black dots represent. Nevertheless, it is important that every
member of society be able to recognize a modulation or a fugal passage, regardless of the fact
that they will never hear one. โTo tell you the truth, most students just arenโt very good at music.
They are bored in class, their skills are terrible, and their homework is barely legible. Most of
them couldnโt care less about how important music is in todayโs world; they just want to take the
minimum number of music courses and be done with it. I guess there are just music people and
non-music people. I had this one kid, though, man was she sensational! Her sheets were
impeccableโ every note in the right place, perfect calligraphy, sharps, flats, just beautiful.
Sheโs going to make one hell of a musician someday.โ
Waking up in a cold sweat, the musician realizes, gratefully, that it was all just a crazy
dream. โOf course!โ he reassures himself, โNo society would ever reduce such a beautiful and
meaningful art form to something so mindless and trivial; no culture could be so cruel to its
children as to deprive them of such a natural, satisfying means of human expression. How
absurd!โ
couldn't be more accurate tbh
most pepole are so biast twords maths these days
like algebra youre given the formula
Yeah eval is pretty safe
its a matter of litreally filling in the blanks
exactly like coding
were just filling in blanks
to make one huge equation
we're?
I hate how people view maths differently from other subjects. I hate the idea that maths is hard or that there are "maths people" or some nonsense like that
everyone allways knocks things without trying them
i think its cuz ppl have 0 confidence these days
Math is beautiful not only because you can represent the whole universe with it, but even more
I put 90% of the blame on the education system
You can represent concepts so abstract, that you can't even imagine it
The education system is made by idiots. Maths at a high school level taught to be geared towards engineering, it's made to be annoyingly complex in algebra but meant to be straight up lacking conceptual thinking: you're meant to just go through the motions to solve the same problems with different numbers
It's idiotic and ridiculous
Even so, changing the education system as a whole is pretty complicated...
We are kinda stuck with it for a while
i think maths should be presented to us on a more day to day basis with things like algebra and calculus where we learn how to properly apply it
Applications are bountiful in other subjects. We should be introduced to maths, at least in high school, on an abstract level. Maths is about the abstract in its purest form
Starting off with something more physically related like geometry is a good start
maths sounds pretty good in college vs school
Well, not only day to day things, for example also explaining how a bunch of stuff works, wanna know how a computer calculates transformations?
?
That's more of a university level thing. Would require too much for a high school
Yeah, ik, just an example
one thing that makes me angry are DATS we have here in ireland
What's that?
appitude testing
it told me to staw away from coding
and science
even tough i love them
Lol, those never are taken seriously
aptitude tests are ridiculous
yeah but my guidence counsellor quotes them like the bible
people should be given a page on what kind of things each career involves. With a CS major: it's pondering over questions like what is the best way to sort a bunch of numbers just by comparing them. Software engineering: what is the process behind making this computer application, how can i design it. etc
obvious more than just a sentence, half a page spent on just describing the career and then the other half on describing a particular topic (like the sorting example)
are ye from america?
nope
im just curious bout how they get into college
like what exams they take
we have the leaving cert
what is cyber security like?
Here in Chile we have point systems. Ranging from 150 to 850, there's the NEM (calculated accordingly to the last 4 years of highschool), Ranking (given by your school), and PSU (University Selection Test, one for each subject), then an University can choose the percentage that's required for each one to be able to enter. For example, it could be 10% NEM, 10% Ranking, 50% PSU Math, 15% PSU Language and 15% PSU Chemistry
yeah we have points too
max is 600
its just oh this course is 300 get 300 and ur automatically in
its dumb
Well, here those who have more points enter, given the quotas they offer
@gaunt root In the US, they have GPA which is their average grade in their last 2-3 years or so + standardised exams that test basic maths and literacy ability. Uni applications send both of those + a personal statement and essays + a list of extracurriculars, sports and musics stuff they did
our way has no morrals
Unis choose people based on all of the criteria + your parents income + your race
oof
the US's way is fucked
Americans get absolutely destroyed because their university admissions system sucks and their high school education system sucks
yeah
not gonna lie, things are expensive over here too, but at least i got into a decent government uni
Uni education is alright, not too different from the rest of the anglosphere other than that they get babysat more
Aus is like ~$7000 USD per year
damn
but the college i wanna go to is 200 a yr
here it depends on the courses, and the uni
my course is from a government school, its like 1000 usd per year
Oh, there's also the concept of national score, those people are the ones with most points, normally there's a little group of perfect 850s followed by a bunch of 750 or more
but government also gives us "loans" with 0% interest to everyone, and you only pay them back through tax once you're earning above a certain threshold
what
so 7k USD is not too terrible in that context
isnt college in america like dozens of thousands of dollars?
how do you guys got 2k a year
Those are giving complete scholarships and can choose any University and any of career
@rough sapphire yeah mine is gov aswell but its funded both by the dall and the EU
neat
Uni in the US has a large range
Private unis cost tons
Depending on how much money they have and how nice they are, they may or may not give large scholarships
Top unis tend to make things cheap but places like BU even though they're good generally arent cheap
here ppl get there full course payed for them if they play sports
like just straight up
hmm, i dont think eval is safe
I should make an online calculator which goes something like
@website.calc
def calc(input):
return eval(input)
100% safe
o no
I was testing eval in #bot-commands, it's pretty well secured
Probably not flawless, but pretty good
but can we make eval dangerous?
Go ahead and try
it evaluates a python expression
we can make dangerous one liner function and put it in eval
example: eval("1 + 1") returns 2
no u
what?
like how do you get the python bot to run code?
i wanna test it
make it cry uncle
hmm
eval(input("input command that supposed to be not safe: "))
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
what is python bot?
okay, lets search for commands
Sorry, but you may only use this command within #bot-commands.
aww
can we make it shorter
if not __import__('os').path.samefile(file, __import__('sys').argv[0]):
with open(file, "w") as f:
f.write("get dunked on"); f.close()
yea
im listening
if not __import__('os').path.samefile(file, __import__('sys').argv[0]): with open(file, "w") as f: f.write("get dunked on"); f.close()```
one line
what is this
its invalid syntax
same
hm
any ideas?
if not __import__('os').path.samefile(file, __import__('sys').argv[0]):
with open(file, "w") as f: f.write("get dunked on"); f.close()```
that?
You guys know that you can use exec inside eval right?
but can you use eval inside exec?
Yep
;o eval(exec(eval(exec(eval(exec(....

Iโm trying to get more into AI

Anyone know of a tool to share files that contain secrets with my team? I'd like it to have version control ideally
@tiny tree private github/gitlab repo?
Are private repos free now? Don't remember
Free for everyone on gitlab, free for individuals on github
Unless you have an open source org with enough stars
waited ~1.5 months for this to arrive. look at that connector
does this seem like something that could realistically happen during shipping?
i think not. 1. it was wrapped in several layers of bubble wrap
- if it fell or something was placed on top of it -all- the pins would be damaged, and if anything they wouldve been flattened instead of bent upwards like that
- if it got hit from the side then why isn't the other pin that faces the same way bent upwards too
conclusion: this thing was damaged before shipping
it seems like it got caught when inserted into the packaging
who did you have it shipped from
seller is in China, on Aliexpress
Could've just got a duff board.
duff board?
A "fuck it Friday" job, as they say.
Sometimes QC gets lazy
Had an electric shower at my mum's catch fire once.
Short in the heating element.
I wish there was a British to English dictionary..
what is an electric shower :v
you mean a heater?
No, it's a shower that has a heating element in it so it uses less hot water and also a pump to improve water pressure
that sounds wildly dangerous
usually heaters are separate.. and the heating element heats the water before it's supplied to the shower..
It draws mains, but they are safe.
well, in any case, you might have been one electric shower down, but you got a free bbq in return ๐
The investigation of our shower showed that the QC missed something and it posed a risk to the heating element melting the plastic.
We got compensation and they withdrew the model
Thick black plastic smoke
probably melted the casing after it shortcircuited
May not have even been a short tbh, just a failure of temperature control
wonder if there are regulations about this kind of thing, like having some minimum distance between electric showers and gas pipes
would it even be able to affect a nearby gas pipe?
right, but the heat of a potential fire + gas pipe = not good, i'd think
like if there's a pipe somewhere else in the wall nearby
ah i see
wouldnt it make sense to have the boiler higher up though? for added water pressure?
or am i getting the physics wrogn way around there
ohhh it has its own tank ok
yeah, so you've got a tank of water which pumps it through the boiler which heats it and sends it back to the tank type thingo
or draws straight from water mains
i believe there are a few different methods

hey quick question for the python pros out there
anyone else use discord? I feel like the only one sometimes
what
like just curious if anyone else around here uses discord
do you mean discord.py?
no i mean like discord.exe
so the desktop discord client? or just discord in general?
in general i suppose
well, this is a discord server, and to use it you need to use discord so
there's a pretty good chance people around here use discord, yes

sounds like a really weird question to ask on a discord server
what is this discord they keep talking about..

my office is next to a theatre.. and they let you buy popcorn..
but it's not buttered or flavored v.v
so depressing.. any suggestions?
organize a boycott of the movie theater
And you know what, forget the blackjack
lol
hookers as in prostitutes or hookers as in strippers?
they give you a bucket of popcorn.. there's no way to add your own butter and stuff..
bring your own butter
did not know hooker was a synonym for stripper
me neither but dont know what these brits mean with their slang
it's an American term
either Civil War origin from Union general Hooker and the throngs of civilians following his army, or colloquial origins in New York from the 17th century
yea im on the same page

So I got up today and read that someone had hijacked the Asus software update service
Got into work and booted up the Asus laptop
And all the bloatware is gone
Now that's ethical hacking!
haha
๐
why hadnt you removed it?
Not my laptop
lol
whos was it?
hack me pls
haha that reminds me of all the people we get here asking how to learn to hack
i remember one guy said something along the lines of "yea maybe i shouldnt learn hacking, i get angry alot and could cause some serious damage"
it was hard not to laugh
That's what it did on this laptop
There's actually a sleeper here
The attackers are targeting a specific set of 60 mac addresses
The entire network here is compromised but they just don't give a shit about any of our machines
whats going on? is this like some ddos thing?
Corporate espionage probably
gahaha
It's nothing to do with us, it's more of uhh
A delivery mechanism
Infect everything you can until you reach the targets
and you guys arent doing anythign about it?
There's nothing I can do
lmao is that actually true about your bloatware being deleted?
That's hilarious
@sand goblet is it nice?
hahaha
Honestly, over time it's hard for me to trust companies other than Toshiba and Dell with laptops
i actually have an asus right now
:[
this laptop was relatively cheap for its specs
I actively refuse to buy from Lenovo and Asus
Oh HP is okay too I guess, i havent heard too much bad about them
i wish there wasnt so much drama with big tech companies
There's drama with essentially every industry
HP have poor build quality, but they're otherwise OK laptops
Some people I know that've had them have had them literally fall apart
hp is shit now.. I think they're only around in certain countries
Yeah out of the three I'm okay with, Toshiba has had the best build quality while HP has had the worst. Dell is closer to Toshiba than HP
Toshiba uses some nasty hardware though
Their graphics gear specifically is problematic
I know this because of Minecraft, amusingly
Oof, story time?
They shipped laptops with graphics cards that specifically have problems running Minecraft and nothing else
๐
How
interesting
I always played minecraft on a toshiba but that was a long while ago
I cant believe minecraft is still around
T430
Haha, well, it is
thats the thick bitch btw
One of many
all i know about toshiba is they have no overvoltage protection on some of their hard drives
toshiba make the worst laptops
and that's enough toshiba for a lifetime for me
amateur hour, even my first semester engineering project was overvoltage protected. a single LDO counts as protection, right? :^)
they give you min spec ram when it can fit way more and you have to oc the shit out of them to get any performance
lol the placeholders for the diodes are actually there on the board, they just cheaped out to save that extra 0.000001 cent and didnt solder it on
i never got over the word "zener diode" for some reason. always feels like i'm doing magic when using them
is it bad that zener diode makes me think of the zenos from dragon ball super... ๐
i think of it as the name of some old great wizard
exactly why i never got over the name
he knows one spell: overvoltagus protectus
funilly enough they have diodes for reverse polarity protection though
which is, afaik, more or less impossible with sata power connections
people mess up reverse polarity far often than voltage surges
if your psu cables have the pins in reverse polarity there are much bigger problems at hand
