A credit card number is a string of 16 digits. The last digit is known as the
check digit. It can be used to check the validity of a credit card number,
against transcription error for example, as described below. For simplicity, we
will describe the procedure using 8-digit number instead of the actual 16-digit
one. We will also take the number 43589795 as an example.
• Starting from the rightmost digit, form the sum of of every other digit.
For the example, the sum would be 5 + 7 + 8 + 3 = 23.
• Double each of the digits that are not included in the preceding step.
Add all the digits of the resulting numbers. For the example, we would
take the digits 9, 9, 5, 4, and double them up to get 18, 18, 10, 8, and
then add up the digits 1 + 8 + 1 + 8 + 1 + 0 + 8 = 27
• Add up the sums of the two preceding steps. If the last digit of the result
is 0, the number is valid. For the example, we get 23 + 27 = 50, and
the number is valid.
Write a program to implement this algorithm. Ask the user for an 8-digit
number. Determine, and display, if the number is valid or not.

so do you guys participate in code jam things?

#

vs code is better

#

pal

gentle flint
#

I don't

#

and I use Atom

ivory basalt
#

well i never used atom

#

but

#

vs code is better than pycharm lol

gentle flint
#

Why?

ivory basalt
#

well i am good with sublime and vs code pal

gentle flint
#

that doesn't make it better

#

that just means you have more experience with it

ivory basalt
#

well i use sublime for competitve programming

#

yeah

gentle flint
#

sure, but why is it better than pycharm?

ivory basalt
#

so which is better then

gentle flint
#

I think every program has things it is good for and bad for

ivory basalt
#

yeah

#

so how you like pycharm then

#

in pro wise ?

gentle flint
#

I haven't got personal experience with it
I've used VSCode, Sublime Text, Atom, Nano, vim (which was too hard), Nano, and Geany

ivory basalt
#

vim is for touch typist pal

gentle flint
#

So far I like Sublime Text for its stability, and Atom for its functionality

ivory basalt
#

whoa

#

so atom is good?

gentle flint
#

well

#

it's slower than sublime

ivory basalt
#

lol

gentle flint
#

but faster than VSCode

ivory basalt
#

mm

gentle flint
#

for me, it is good; for others, it might not be

ivory basalt
#

i wont execute in vs code

#

i like it typing and importing

#

i execute in my linux terminal

#

which is greater tho

gentle flint
#

Well, if you have a fast computer, VSCode is very powerful
but it's too slow for me

#

which is one of the main reasons I don't use it

ivory basalt
#

well like i said ide are good for typing for me

#

but

#

terminals are thing you need to execute

gentle flint
#

Like I said, everyone has things they like and don't like
just try out everything
and then make your choice

ivory basalt
#

mm

#

leave that topic aside

so you learned algos ?

#

I remember now. Facebook asked me this question before, then I figure out using two pointers approach.

#

The context of the question is, given a sorted array, removed duplicated element and return the new size. The definition of removing duplicated element is to rewrite them with the next sorted element.

#

So I just use two pointers to form a sliding window. When traversing the array with the right pointer, if two pointers are pointing to same element increase the right pointer (or ignore if using for loop), else increase left pointer and set the element to equal right pointer element. In the end return left pointer index + 1

Cause deflation results = Economy Not Increasing

wind cobalt
#

it is pretty stagnant lately

#

In economics, deflation is a decrease in the general price level of goods and services.[1] Deflation occurs when the inflation rate falls below 0% (a negative inflation rate). Inflation reduces the value of currency over time, but sudden deflation increases it. This allows more goods and services to be bought than before with the same amount of currency. Deflation is distinct from disinflation, a slow-down in the inflation rate, i.e. when inflation declines to a lower rate but is still positive.[2] Sauce : Wikipedia

ripe abyss
#

The problem with deflation is that often it can contribute to lower economic growth. This is because deflation increases the real value of debt – and therefore reducing the spending power of firms and consumers

Hey, describe the problem in the chat @storm field

There's also an 'advanced noise suppression' setting

Ah

gentle flint

the noise suppression, or the person?

The guy

It's a pretty active community.

#

There are a few people you see a lot.

Yeah, I'm not sure what a 'pixel circle generator' is @whole bear

Could you explain it in more detail?

stuck furnace
#

Alright, so you want a python program that produces an image of a circle?

#

Or an interactive tool?

whole bear
#

generate a text

#

circle in dots

#

. . .
. .

#

like that lmao

stuck furnace
#

👍

#

Ok, so do you need some pointers on how to start?

whole bear
#

yes

#

pleasee

#
import math

x = int(input('Write here the radius of the circle: '))
y = int(x)
r = x**2
a = math.pi * r * r / 100
print(str(a))

# this is the start
gentle flint
#

how about turtle

#

calculate circumference

#

draw points at set originas on the circumference

whole bear
#

.
.

#

.

gentle flint
#

so you wanna draw ascii art of a circle

stuck furnace
#
def paint(pixelset, width, height):
    for row in range(height):
        for col in range(width):
            if (row, col) in pixelset:
                print('.', end='')
            else:
                print(' ', end='')
        print()
#

That's a start.

#

Now you just need to find a way to generate the set of pixels that you want to fill in.

#

@whole bear

#
def circle(radius):
    pixels = set()
    ...
    return pixels
#

No prob 👍

See my branch nulano/Pillow@06ba083...nulano:ft-color. IIRC it should work, but there are some extra unnecessary changes that should be removed, and parts of it can be simplified, before submitting it as a PR. Please treat it as a WIP, the API will likely change in the final version.

Hey @ruby wind!

Uh-oh! It looks like your message got zapped by our spam filter. We currently don't allow .txt attachments, so here are some tips to help you travel safely:

• If you attempted to send a message longer than 2000 characters, try shortening your message to fit within the character limit or use a pasting service (see below)

• If you tried to show someone your code, you can use codeblocks
(run !code-blocks in #bot-commands for more information) or use a pasting service like:
