The AI does not ever choose to pay 4 life and just simply passes priority for the remainder of the game, not playing any creatures and discarding to hand size.

I assume the AI had more than 4 life? Otherwise it was just staying alive and hoping you made a mistake...

In the game, the AI had 20 life, it just simply did not even consider paying 4 life ever, so Aether Storm acts as a freeze on the game
