#cant get custom cards to load

i have been trying to get custom cards to load in game but have been unsucessful no matter where i put the files or settings i turn on and off.

the customs folder mentioned in the pins doesnt exist by default now and doesnt function when i create it, it seems.
some source implied custom was removed and to just use cardsfolder but thats not working either. my custom set shows up but i cant get any card to load into it.

THe reason what you tried didn't work is.. complicated

But basically you can sorta do what you did but its not recommended since it doesn't play nicely with upgrading Forges

#

Much better to be safe in your user directory

Doesn't need too much besides "These are the directories we care about. They might not exist so feel free to make them yourself"

If you can't find your User directory, you can use the "Open user directory" button in Desktop Forge -> Preferences -> Troubleshooting

Also you may not want to choose a date for your edition in the future, as that may cause problems with newly scripted cards which are assigned to future sets if not otherwise assigned to anything

I guess you haven't defined the front face yet by not having a name, so it can't set the mana cost

@rich harness well the cards dont show up in the log erroring anymore but they also dont show in game at all

Basically the same Problem still persists

The cards seem like it was attempting to load or it would not have errored before but now I fixed the error it still won't load

Yes, these folders are not pre-generated by Forge

#

But Forge will look in them if they exist

yes im getting errors again so they are loading in.

HOWEVER. even if i get the card to load im worried it still wont load into adventure mode since the pin make it clear it doesnt lead into adventure mode from the customs folder.

however im sure if i go back 20 versions it might work from the res folders like it tells me it needs to be in for that

Its nothing abotu versions for the res folder

Its because when you have a cardsfolder.zip it doesn't look for individual card scripts

#

I am very specifically not recommending this because its annoying and i don't want people asking to help them when things get messed up

Leave the unzipped cards there

But next time you update things are going to be bad

because you'll have a .zip again

i simply wont update untill im ready to go through the process again. i dal with games that break mods every second day all the time so this would be nothing new.

If you do that i would recommend having a custom folder with your cards rather than putting them in the alphabetical folders

i shall simply keep a backup folder of my custom cards and wipe the res folder every update then unzip, delete and reput my customs in each update

I feel like the cards folder will load everything under it, feel free to organize it however you want

I'm not sure what you linked about custom cards and adventure

But it has access to custom cards

I'm guessing it just doesn't have access to edition files

(Which means you can't Smith it if thats the case)

I'm not sure, but I think most shops are dynamically created from a query. So if it matches, and you have set up your edition file correctly, then they could appear.
