hi everyone! I'm a student who's trying to write a brief report on queer culture in Chinese-speaking spaces and I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with me! I don't need anything too specific, but a little bit of general cultural knowledge would be very helpful, ex. Internet slang terms, any archetypes/stereotypes you've encountered, and anything else you think would be important to know. (If anyone would like, I can also share some of my own experiences!)

你好大家!我是一个学生,我想写一个文章,题目是“酷儿人的文化",如果有人想分享他们的经验,请告诉我!

(specific regions of interest: Mainland China (specific city/province is also helpful), Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong. Others are welcome to reply though!)

(also my Mandarin is not terrible, but for something so specific I may request English translations/approximations. sorry for any inconvenience!)

thank you! 谢谢你!

拉拉 - lesbian
豆腐婆 - d*ke (this one might be kinda offensive, literally means tofu lady. i would compare it to carpet muncher in english)
出柜 - coming out of the closet. calque of english
凸/凹 - top/bottom

the characters themselves the original meaning is "sticking/bulging out" and "caving in" roughly

#

豆腐婆 is also originally cantonese but idk if it has migrated towards the mandarin speaking sphere

#

i've heard it and used it (in mandarin) so probably

#

but i also speak cantonese
