#How do you pronounce the 乐 in 乐恒? is it a bad idea to have this character in my name?

yue Generally refers to musical instruments 乐器
It's usually le4 if someone sees it, except you say it first.
I would assume le4 first
I’m a contrarian so I assume yue4 first
Okay but actually I did read it has yue4 but that might be biased because of reading the title so I assumed it’s the less common reading
just pick up random one
my colleague’s surname is 乐, but we just call him by a random pronunciation😋
Hey there! That’s a great question about your name, Lèhéng (乐恒)!
🗣️ How to Pronounce 乐 (Lè)?
For your name, Lèhéng, the correct and intended pronunciation is Lè (l-uh) .
❌ The other reading, Yuè, is incorrect here. Or maybe "incorrect" is too serious. We shall say, you can use it, but it is not a usual way.
✨ Is it a Bad Idea to Have This Character?
Absolutely not! It’s a fantastic choice and a great name! 👍
Here’s why Lè (乐) is a wonderful character for a name when pronounced lè:
Meaning: When read as Lè, it means "happy," "joyful," or "blissful."
Auspice: Combined with 恒 (Héng, meaning "lasting/constant"), your name Lèhéng (乐恒) carries a beautiful and deep meaning: "Everlasting Happiness" or "Constant Joy."
Naming Convention: Choosing a name for its positive, aspirational meaning (like "lasting happiness") is perfectly in line with traditional Chinese naming customs.
Self-Correction/Context: The reason why people sometimes ask is because the other pronunciation, Yuè, almost exclusively means "music" or "musical instrument" (乐器, yuèqì). It sometimes appears as a surname, but it usually doesn't carry a deeper meaning suitable for a chosen given name. So Lè might be more proper here.
Hope that clears things up! It's a great name! 🎉
