I am able to edit the setting on the Ini file. I'm getting the message that I need permission from the onwer or administrator. I gave admin permission and Im still no able to change the settings on the file. any advise?

This is likely due to you having installed FFXI in a protected/system folder. (This is fine.) Just means you need to first open your editor of choice as an administrator (right-click > Run as Administrator) before trying to edit the file.

Thank you for replying. I'd done what you suggested and got the same resolved. I used notepad to open the file. maybe the with a different editor?. Thank you for the help

Notepad is fine, it's not the editors fault/issue. It's Windows itself protecting files inside of a system folder from general editing.

this is the path of where I have installed the game /c->Program files (x86) ->Playonline-> SquareEnix-> PlayonlineViewer

can I edit the file outside of where I have the pol.exe and then copy it?

Yea, however Windows will prompt you with a UAC popup (if you have that still enabled) warning you when doing things like that.
