My friend's installation keeps installing direct from origin as an earlier version when it should be pre patched to 1.04
He has tried multiple clean installs as well as trying to manually patch via the 1.04 updater from cnclabs. However, when he tries to run the patch, it returns an error along the lines of "missing or invalid registry"

Uninstall everything and install fresh game.
Then download and run genpatcher
