ok
Good
ok

tldr, follow the law(?)
Good š
rip music bots š

Do we need to resubmit are bot to be reapproved again
HIIII
No you wont need to do that!
Which most to all no code bot builders have.
Module wise
Music bots do not download or provide downloaded content
This does not effect those
Playing music is not the same
That mean no music bots on top.gg anymore
Was just about to dm you related to that š
Always on the ball
though why does topgg allow music bots that play from yt?
as its obviously breaking googles tos
idk about the other services but theirs as well
isn't breaking another services tos against discords tos
Discord barely knows there own tos
If you believe an application breaks Top.gg or Discord TOS then you can report it on the website and we will look into it š
and I genuinely find it weird that bots are allowed to break other's terms
Itās just how discord is. They say one thing but does something different.
What does this limit then if not music?
There's no scalable way to moderate every single platform's ToS
So if a bot breaks a platform not directly associated, the platform can bring awareness to it
this is for music bots or this card bots on topgg that are using anime characters to monetize?
couse i doubt they have copryright for using it
This covers specifically downloader utilities
Such as?
file downloader utility bots, bots that allow you to download pirated content are examples
also, streaming music without proper broadcasting licenses of the songs played is generally counted as infringing intellectual property rights
yeah no, definitely not with all casesābut obvious things are, especially if its a core feature, like streaming copy righted music without a broadcasting license
not my point
Can of worms
you are exactly proving my point why we do not actively do it
core feature of a music bot would be broadcasting, a terraria bot, terraria tos, minecraft bot.... etc.
there's thousands of bots with thousands of potential ToS'
atp its just copyright law lol
we process DMCA claims
So basically bots that have a command that wraps yt-dlp
That would not be allowed no
more of any bot that has a special scraper to download then redistribute content from like x, instagram.. etc
Yes same question. if my bot has a command to download an Instagram reel on discord that's also against these guidelines or not ?
...which is usually yt-dlp lmao, yt-dlp (and youtube-dl in general) support hundreds of sites not just youtube
yep
what if I embed the video instead of directly giving a file ?
J
Thank God bless reviewers heart But there's not very many of them so it takes forever :(
the current wait time is 3 days, that's not too long
idk ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
are music bots cooked
It doesn't mention audio files it's mainly for downloading stuff such as a bot that would allow you to search artwork and download it
Does that mean people now can easily find bots distributing pirated content by searching some keywords in #mod-logs ?
-# It has been an efficient way to find NSFW bots.
you can yes
Ok
not all only a few
Downloading and streaming is not the same, at all with that logic it would be copyright to open a chrome tab and play a song on SoundCloud or YouTube
Same reason for a example yt dlp and GitHub beat Google
ādidnāt actually ācircumventā a protected access control because YouTube itself serves the streams openly to browsers,ā
A bot acting as a headless browser playing content thatās publicly accessible via browsers isnāt DMCA nor is it copyright infringement, downloading and redistributing is
Imagine saying ur headless browser is illegal go to jail how dare u publicly access content thatās publicly embeddedable on sites
Well this aināt Germany lmao itās America, and again YouTube doesnāt have a GBL of a GEMA
Ur augment for a American company inside a platform a another USA company is Germany law?
topgg is in the Netherlands and also offers its service in Germany
idk what you want with America
and top gg enforces the terms and policy of its self and discord
And Google itself is American
discord terms don't allow you to break laws
Thereās no law being broken
Ur claiming thereās a law being broken but there isnāt
what lol
youāre claiming thereās a law being broken but youāre not backing it up
did you even read what you sent
I did
YouTube has the rights within its platform
YouTube pays the license fees
absolutely brain damage
Ur fried dawg lmao
Ur claiming saying that isnāt illegal is illegal lmao
if you say so
Youāre bad at defending ur point
I don't have any benefit to waste my time at a family lunch
Thatās fair, but acting like youāre still correct despite not being is crazy, ur response to American law for American companyās is a random German law
I even provided u with a actual case of google losing a DCMA claim to GitHub
Because media accessible via a public browser isnāt a DCMA violation
š
š if anything top gg needs less porn bots
I already had legal issues myself to that regard, I can tell you
Hello! I'm super late to this announcement, but I do have a question.
I have a command that allows people to get a link to download a fanwork from AO3 without leaving discord if they have the URL. Technically, fanworks are copyright their creators, but AO3 automatically provides these links for every work archived on the site, and all I've done is linked to their downloads.
Would this violate the guideline or not?
