#Support Servers Thread

I was going to say the same thing
I thought it was using the existing support server thing and making it look nicer
Hey I actually have a question about this
we don't really have the capability to store the data easily without it being on top.gg :(
My support server is still on the site from the last time you guys had servers but it gives me errors when I try to edit iirc
Most sites just fetch the invite for that
/api/invites/:code doesn’t require auth
awh ok
shame
yeah, but that sounds a bit scary regarding ratelimiting, and i dont think discord or creators would appreciate it if we start scraping and storing their server data without explicit permission
Nobody said anything about storing, caching yes. Bot is better for real time updates though yeah
But it is possible was the point :p
it is possible, yes.
but not viable :p
generally we try to avoid annoying the discord API as much as we can to be respectful to their API
Would be cool to have listing the support server be part of the list bot flow, like some way to return back to the list bot flow with what you’ve already filled out preserved after you list the support server
not a bad idea!
Yea and preselect the support server obv
Use bots requiring review but servers not as a “feature” here
we do refetch if you return back to the tab
you can click the add server button if you wanna add it from the add flow :D
Oh that is a thing now nice
its all new
hahah fair
Loving the name of "kitchen sink bot"
They used it during the ddevs event as a blanket term for multipurpose bots without clarifying too much on what qualifies as one and what makes them “bad user experience” and it had people in the chat questioning it the whole rest of the event with the biggest and most profitable bots on the platform meeting that description
its a two way street i feel
for discord having complicated, expansive, and hard to learn bots are bad because it causes people to get confused
for bot devs having a single feature bot is risky because they can get replaced by a single discord product update
i feel like there's a disconnect of some sense there
Their opinion is it’s “easier” if you break it up into separate bots but imo that sucks the second you want any of those features to connect with each other in any way
Depends on how good of a job discord did
But I feel like most of the time that’s happened lately, bots have ended up using those native features to enhance their functionality, but yeah technically with timeouts most moderation bots are redundant now since the only unique thing they did was “muting” via role
And for most people the built in polls system will be good enough now compared to say a dyno poll
But personally I still see a shocking amount of people invite mine for role menus despite the existence of onboarding role selection, and private threads are nowhere near replacing a ticket bot :p
oh yeah definitely
I agree.
I think that support server linking is an excellent Idea, and offers an easy way to link supporting servers, but as they and I said, it would be better to have "full highlighting" since some people like me have got small bots
Thanks For Reading,
Glitch
I thought this was already a thing? I set mine when I added my bot like a month or so ago lol
you probably set the "website"
