you could have still done bm_reverse_subtract with 2023.11
you just had to use gpu_set_blend_mode_ext
gpu_set_blendmode_ext(bm_src_alpha, bm_one)
that's what that 3rd column is
actually nvm on second thought that kinda doesn't make sense

Presumably they wanted to move away from GameMaker Studio 2, but not outright change the name
