how to ''destroy'' text? | GameMaker | Page 1

I want to make a statistic of how fast an object increasing in speed is moving, which is displayed on the top left of the screen. the code works fine, but its for an object that spawns every 3 seconds, so the statistic also spawns every 3 seconds. how do i delete the text every 3 seconds (or is there a better way to do this?)
