#Gamemaker keeps freezing while my game is compiled

Hey! The client keeps freezing up at some point while the VM is active. It clears up eventually after closing it, but it takes a minute.
It's made my workflow much more frustrating. Any help with that?
As in the IDE or the game itself?

Do you have any show_debug_message calls?
I know a huge amount of them every frame can cause the IDE to freeze
OH that might just be it
