other than waiting, what is one supposed to do when the thrusters overheat ?

There's a vent switch overhead

There are two types of thruster switches overhead, one for shutting off the thruster and one of activating the choke to unfreeze the thrusters. For overheating, there are panels outside of the truck that allows you to manually vent the thrusters.
