Nah. Gold cards r a beloved cosmetic thing. They r there to look pretty and they do a sparkling good job of it.
On golden cards as a reward. There is dupe protection on those. So u do get a new card out of it if u r not full on that rarity. Making the golden special rewards of lvl progression and crate one of the best rewards there is (as specials r what have been lagging behind for most collection wise.)
For me, golden specials r the best reward for sure, bc I still want specials, but I don't really care which one anymore (as it is just for finishing the collection, not really playing) so I rather have those specials shiny then the ability to choose which one to have (which a special wildcard reward would do). And for the rest of the golden? After a while wildcards of certain rarities become pointless. U'll have a pile of standards etc with nothing to use it on. But unlike those rewards, gold cards r at least something, as even with gold crafting, a full gold collection is unsustainable, hence golden rewards not only just give the card to the ones with smaller collection who do not have it (and who might not care if it's gold or not), it is still at least something for the ones who have high collection%. Bc sure, u have the cards, but this one shines which is something extra.
Therefore not only the statement "gold cards mean nothing to anyone" strikes me as false, bc they do mean a lot to a lot of players. It is one of those rewards that actually adds something to every (realistic) collection despite the wildly different collection%-es.
