#Allow people to stream OCC Quals or give someone Spectator Client to cast Quals Games

There's a lot of potential competitive content being missed out on by having OCC qualifiers completely in the dark. I totally get not having an official cast for it, but you should allow players to stream or potentially leave it open to a community contributor to use the spec client to broadcast some of the games .

The rule of not being allowed to stream your occ games is unreasonable. The reason this rule was passed iirc was the evergarden/tangtang incident, which would not have been prevented by a streaming ban anyway.

Hmm. I wonder if it is a bit protective. Are there precedents of other games doing it like that? I know as an example blood bowl doesnt demand this

In one OCC qualifier, someone got caught streaming themselves being coached by another player, the ban on streaming followed that incident. I don't know if that was the reason they banned it, it seemed correlated though from the outside.

I don't quite see the one thing preventing the other. There's stream sniping, sure, but that can always be solved by delay (or the person just not caring for some reason)

Mmm... Having to determine whether coaching is happening in like 20 different languages might be the blocker. So if somebody reports a problem, investigating it is a big hassle

#

Crowdsourcing goes a long way in that sort of thing, maybe

#

But...

#

I imagine there was conversation about it and this was the simplest hands-off solution available

That's true, there's also the thing with having a livestream chat. I think the third party approach of equipping someone with a spec client and letting them broadcast some games would be great though and sidestep that. It would require some planning, but that would mostly be on the community side of whoever would be doing it.

Spectator and maybe a bit of delay I guess could work

It's just a shame there's so many potentially very interesting competitive games going on every month and no one is able to partake

Blood Bowl had live Cabalvision, anybody could watch any game live

We can only dream

Well, spectator mode does exist, it just needs to be prioritized for finalization - but actual content is king for a bit, gotta catch up on that as well

#

I'll be happy once spec mode shows both hands redParty

lucid rain

It should be pretty simple really, just flip the opponents hand over

#

Or am I missing something...

Having to OBS Ninja/use two clients and put it together etc. to show both hands is a big enough entry barrier for some people to not wanna host their own little tournaments. It's not a huge deal, but little bothers like that in my experience can totally be a "nah i dont wanna deal with this" type of thing

Even having a delay makes that a bit fragile though

#

Like the temptation to peek would be pretty big

tropic imp
#

Right now spec mode only shows the players POV

#

I think 10 mins delay is pretty safe

lucid rain
#

That could work

#

At the stage where you have 10 minutes delay, I think it becomes moot whether it's live or just free to replay after the game... but then you lose the tempo of the game unless every move is timestamped as well... hmm hmm

#

Blood Bowl is a different affair since there is no hidden information, that makes having it available live more feasible

Ah yes, the point being the streamer themself is filming live, and must handle the delay... I see I see
