Listening to this guy is a pain. His understanding of the game is very sub-par, not to say embarassing. He's a typical esports caster who doesn't know what's going on beyond basics, just talks to talk. He buzzes like a fridge. He's like a de-tuned radio. He's attempting to fill the space which doesn't need to be filled. Leave just a little bit for the viewer to think. Bubbles talks, but at least he knows what he's talking about. Flake doesn't, and so he's just a noise generator delivering negative value.

I just read this post and hadn't watched the occ yet, then I saw flake commenting the surrender in the finals and how he called it questionable and i understand your sentiment, the level of understanding of the game really shouldnt be on that level. 1939 should have a higher standard for their events than that.
That being said, I understand going for people more experienced with casting as opposed to simply competitive players, it raises the levels on the other side of things, but the disparity between the two sides should probably be a tad bit smaller
Maybe it's just me, but when watching esports I always prefer commentary from pro players or former pro players to run-of-the-mill casters. In my opinion, people like Jking or Bubbles or Berto do a perfectly good job. Kards is not a used car dealership, the gift of the gab doesn't contribute much here.
Both have their upsides and downsides and I think especially for more casual/newer players it's important to not just have in depth analysis or whatever
Flake is a great caster, not a great Kards player. This is the esports standard to have 1 analyst and one shout caster.
Not even really a shoutcaster, his analysis is just much easier to understand for people newer to the game
It's nice to have a coverage that meets more people.
Saying his analysis is embarrassing is weirdly elitist and presumptuous
Most get better over time, many sports have the color commentary.
We might see some new faces in the casting booth soon! 👀
I don't think it's a bad thing to have several people available to cast with slightly different skillsets
I did find the analysis really lacking in the finals matches.
But I'd add that we are quite spoiled having Jking doing analysis in other matches because he seems on an entirely different level in term of where he's at skills wise.
