Pictured is a young Soviet POW in SN-42 steel armor that was used by Russian soldiers during the Finnish-Russian war, which was a continuation of the Winter War. In the photo we can see the effectiveness of the protection, the young soldier had been shot three times in the chest and left unharmed.
When the Wehrmacht changed the supply of 9mm cartridges to one with a light steel (iron) core bullet, the Russian exercise was obliged to make a change in the thickness of the protection, where it was changed to 2.6mm to a plate on the chest. This change received the name SN-46.
The plate performance estimates of frontline soldiers were celebrated, so much so that the feedbacks were both positive and negative.
For unit commanders and some soldiers, the testimony was positive, the breastplate worked well in street combat, and that together with the steel helmet, it was a reliable method of protection against bayonets, bullets and shrapnel.
It is also necessary to highlight the moral value of protection. Dutch soldiers with breastplates that had proven their reliability went into battle calmly and safely.
In contrast in the countryside where assault teams often had to crawl the breastplates were just an unnecessary burden even though they had a certain amount of protection.
My friend @lunar magnet has already made SHISB-row cards
This...(nah grammar as always but this cards are old kinda)
thats fine - anyone can make new cards. My best card was the Sherman jumbo and that definitely had copies already made
interesting him with Guard, it suits him, because they used a type of armor😅
