I have seen reactions to these esports changes from dozens of players from all across the competitive spectrum, from OCC regulars to those who are still building their collections with the goal of making top 38 in the future. Not a single one of these reactions have been positive to the OCC changes. And these are not just reactionary responses to the fact that things are changing, these are valid criticisms which need addressing. To me the most glaring one is why the 3k prize pool for OCC Ultimate is being split between 3 players. The new Bo5 system and qualification through previous tournaments does make it more competitive but it still a massive time commitment to qualify with the chance to get nothing but in-game prizes (adding in-game prizes to lower placements in tournament is an amazing change but people in OCC Ultimate almost certainly don't need it). You could win all three seasons, then all 3 OCC Clashes only to place 4th and earn nothing. The 3k prize pool could be split 8th-5th: $125, 4th: $250, 3rd: $500, 2nd: $750 and 1st: $1000. This would not increase the size of the prize pool, it would not drastically decrease the prize for winning and it would give something meaningful to everyone who took the time and effort to qualify. I would also like to highlight some criticisms from other players. The choice to make OCC Clashes played off stream is a confusing one, especially since this was already tried in the past and was strongly disliked. Not making changes to the OCC qualification process (ex: making top 4 qualify to top 8 and the other 4 spots are for qualifiers) while making qualifying for one more meaningless by pushing the cash rewards to another tournament you need to qualify for hurts the group of players who see top 8 as a dream. There are countless others which I don't have the space to mention here but the point is the community should have had an opportunity to voice these opinions before anything was made official. Hopefully it is not too late
